@motocross223Tanner Are you saying Adam is a poser? How is he a poser!? He's most certainly no poser dude. That kid is little and a pretty sick rider. It's not like he's wearing monster for no reason. He's sponsered by every sick brand out there.
a yamaha sponsored guy who worked for a motorcycle magazine who were at the prewie test for this bike said that this bike was much better than his yz450f and the bike he tested wasnt even been used which means that the bike was not good as it will be after a whilte!!
@conrad573 no at 14 years old a 250 would be the go although you will be able to ride the 450 it will prob have to much power for you to handle and on a 250 you will be able to ride alot smoother and smooth=speed power doesent = speed
And a fuckin Maico no body rides them if they were so fucking great the people that arent pros and have to pay out of pocket would be using them but we dont see that do we now?
Maico would be just as big as KTM right now if they hadn't been screwed over in 1983.
People don't buy the best bikes. They buy the bikes that the magazines TELL THEM are the best. To the magazines, it doesn't pay to give a glowing review of a Maico. The company can't afford to buy tons of advertising in the magazine, so there's very little return to the publishers. If they say that a Honda 4T is the best bike, Honda forks over lots of loot in return. It's economics, not engineering.
What I want to know is, who's the bonehead that decided a bike needs not one, but THREE 90-degree angles in the kickstarter? At the same time, who decided that said kickstarter should be 16" long and made of chicken wire?
If someone showed up there with an open-class two-stroke, everyone there would shit their pants. Maico's new (meaning year 1999) 500 two-stroke makes 67 horsepower at the crank. I want you to find me ONE single-cylinder 4T that can do that. Just one. Should be easy, right?
A 4T will only have more power for one or more of the following reasons:
- It has a turbocharger.
- It has a supercharger.
- The AMA allows them to cheat.
Take that away and the 2T will have half-again the power of a 4T.
You think the professional racers get to choose what bike they ride? Oh man, that's hilarious. And as for inconsistent power, you've obviously never ridden a Maico. The power delivery from that is pure butter, with no hiccups or inconsistencies to be found. It feels like a 4T but with a lot more top-end. Or rather, a 4T that actually HAS top-end.
Going back to the pros, you might want to take a look at what Stewart and Carmichael ride for fun. It's YZ250 and RM250, respectively.
Your last statement is impecable and agrees with me, pros use 4t for a reason. 2T are way unreliable, when I had an kx85 the bike's engine (the thning that makes the bike go) broke 6 times. Transmission 1, top end rebuild 4, And bottom end rebuild 1. So we sold it got a mans bike (CRF150R) I clear 90 ft tables with no problem, had the bike since 07 no problems. I use my bro's kx250f now but no way I would go back to a 2T. A 250 2T doesnt even compare to our kx250f. Hasnt broke either
My 1967 Kawasaki 120 (two-stroke) is 42 years old and still runs the original piston, and I can guarantee it got 100 miles put on it every weekend of the summer for five years straight. The only maintenance we did was to replace the oil and tweak the clutch. I don't know what could possibly have happened to your KX85; perhaps you weren't using enough oil.
Ricky and Bubba both rode 4T professionally because they were paid to. The factories like 4T because the profit margin is greater.
And those pro riders were paid to ride for suzuki and yamaha not 4T, a localist (Bobby Fitch) had a choice to ride 2T's and 4T's. He chose 4T and got picked up from RDP (Who gave him his bike's)
@MonkeyManFsU hahaha it is a proven fact that 2 strokes are 10 time more reliable than 4 strokes.....you are obviously not that into motocross....Only reason i ride a 450 is because its faster....more expensive and less reliable but definetly faster.
@MonkeyManFsU Yes they are.....my yz250 2-stroke has taken a beating...left outside for a year, changed oil 1 time in a year, and has like 400 hours on it.....I wouldn't even think about treating my 450 like that. oh yeah rebuilding a 2 stroke casts like $600 and rebuilding a 4 stroke costs like $1500 to $2000.
my dad hates 2t's because I had an 85, ran it to fast with a bigbore kit on it. Rebuilt the engine 2 times costed a fortune, the top end was rebuilt 3 times including the other 2 complete rebuilds, I love 2t's but I got a 150r now. Runs amazing never broke once. I rode a few of my friends
cr125's and my bros kx250f. I love the bottom end on a 4t but the top end is lacking for speed. I would go with a 125 or 250 250 2t but my dad hates the 2t's with a passion. Im faster on a 2t but I dont find them reliable. Is the reliability better on bigger 2t's? Btw I run these bikes in the 3-5 or 6 (if 2t) gear not to much low.Every one else seems to have a good time with
@MonkeyManFsU 2 strokes are extremely reliable buddy...all you have to do is mix gas, clean filter, and change oil....theres no reason it shouldnt last for like 8 to 10 years
my brother had the kx65 2stroke and now he has a kx85 2stroke and he rides hard and he never had a problem with them now he is looking to upgrade to a bigger 2 stroke
there 2t's "they never break" but I found that they do break alot. Wellk atleast my 85 did. I need advice for reliability or was I doing something wrong with the engine rebuilds? IDK so in position would you go with a 2t? How would you convince my dad? How would you make the reliability better?
@MonkeyManFsU Maybe increase your oil/fuel ratio or carefully consider how high in the rev range are you going? Are you red lining the bike all the time and staying there? Maybe your jetting is too lean and the bike can't cool itself when running hard? I's hard to say without looking at the inside of your engine and how you ride the bike.
@MonkeyManFsU well the smaller the engine the easier it is to break....its a small engine....there could have been something else causing it to wear faster though.....ive seen some people with cr500s and you could actually hear the pistons rattling on the inside and the bike ran just fine....
you dont wanna step stright up from a 150 four stroke to a 250 2 stroke .... well even though id guess its pendant on your weight and what ull be riding on ectt
