  • thanks for sharing!!!! i never got to see them back in the day. definitely a treat.

  • Jake did have the coolest f**kin hair! I still listen to these guys once in a while. I saw them a couple of times at L'amours in Brooklyn...

  • Damn i love how Jake is messing with Ian xD 2:44

  • How can a band this good be so underrated ??????????

  • ive probably watched this video five times today i just cant get over how good jake is those blues licks he does in the beginning are jaw dropping it just goes to show how much someone can do with a guitar without a whammy bar

  • nice to see that white charvel guitar again.

he was dating my roommate "LINDA" and that was my fave guitar in his collection.

last i heard they were in veges with kids and all.

this band "Badlands" was going to be the next GnR, but the singer is with the lord now, and that was that.

so sad , if you can find the cd get it, its some of the best metal you will ever hear.

  • I can hear a clear Ace Frehley influence in that intro by Lee.

  • JAKE E LEE RULES!!!

  • @earlyblue Hell yes he does!!

  • Pure magic, see you soon ray..RIP brother, where do you go from here...

  • My god!!! Jake what are you doing brother. This was your lotto Tix .fuck ozzy , he named all his guitar players i'n feb 11 Denver from beginning to end and omitted you, what for drinking too much i'n 86 . Shit saw that tour to Chicago , tenth row . Awesome !! You dissed ray brother . Ray , too your family and friends, god bless you , voice from heaven , brings tears to my eyes brother . This is pure rock and Jake quit hiding out i'n Vegas , you are a great talent, man what a tragedy .. This is

  • what an absolutely overlooked band.....these guys were one of the best.

  • Wish Jake was still around...REFORM BADLANDS!!!!

  • Awesome. I bought this tape when it first came out. For those who know what's up, this is some heavy hard rockin' music. Epic stuff.

  • sounds kinda like david coverdale

  • I watched this whole show last night on a bootleg DVD i have, who were they opening for? anyone know?

  • @PEDROCLASSIC Are you high??

  • @gfgranja funny

  • Badlands was a band that could have been an absolute monster if Ray had lived. What an amazing voice...and, Jake...well - no words needed. Just pure badass in concert.

  • Was Jake E doing Ace Frehley's Shock Me solo in the beginning?LOL!

  • Great band! Totally stripped down rock and or roll!!!! Something that's missing in todays garbage music!!

  • One of the greatest, most talented bands that no-one has ever heard of. Sadly, sometimes great talent gets overlooked, and this is one of the most blatant instances :(

  • Perfection......damn

  • Awesome!!! R.I.P Ray

  • @trideer01571 how did he die?

  • @yachn He died of Aids.... Sad cuz he was such a talent...

  • I miss rock n roll

  • not a madonna concert ...love it ..tell it like it is Ray

  • ray and ian aren't related, except for being kick ass singers.

  • One of the best versions of that song I've ever heard and I've seen them live in a pool hall.

  • yeah...that's a long ago... i love that song...

  • @tammysyl get a grip you clown. And get over yourself you silly person. My last statement meant nothing. I stand reflected....? the fact that you even answered shows the arrogance...silly person...silly silly person.

  • jake went from ozzy doing something more to his style, ray gillen is an awesome singer, eric singer a killer drummer, a super band, the second album is even better, i think its a definite step up from what he did with ozzy, too bad this band didn't stay together longer,

  • Jake kind of threw his guitar slightly out of tune in this one

  • FUCKIN AMAZING! I love this shit.

  • @PEDROCLASSIC

used albums and new albums... theyre the same self titled badlands album released in 1989 except some have been used... Of course i don't mean new material because Ray Gillen is dead and they disbanded.

  • @PEDROCLASSIC I respect your opinion , however, in my religion DC is the one and only God. Ray may be one of the angels

  • @tammysyl Always with the religion - great band and singer. Leave it at that and your religion in the closet.

  • @lisduggan64 I thought people in You Tube were smart enough to tell literal meaning from figurative one but I see I was wrong. I apologize for writing things that are beyond you tubers, sorry.

  • @tammysyl ooh let me bask in your literally figurative musing O wise one. I stand reflected...

  • Now that, that is a friggin guitar onslaught! Jake has one of the best guitar syles ever, bluesy, raw and effing heavy, like Page on steroids.....or Billy Gibbons gone metal.....This is the best I've seen him play, absolutley rude ,aggressive and in yo' face-rest of the band kicks ass too......Great post.......Miss this era and its music.....45 and regressing more everyday.......

  • @Ericmoss37

Ian Gillan And Ray Gillen are NOT related

their last names are not even spelled the same

  • ian gillen is purple and sabbath singer. originally from purple. they're not related.

    ray gillen will outclass coverdale.

  • Top 5 live performance tour of all time !

  • damn wish someone would upload the studio

  • Oh, this are some hot vocals and licks, awsome.

  • Good news!Badlands old albums will be re-released in April! Hurray!

  • I never noticed but this sounds like David Coverdale and some of the old whitesnake guitar riffs are there too..

  • He seems to have a similar style, but sorry David Coverdale and Whitesnake are UNIQUE!!!

  • @tammysyl No I mean his voice sounds like Coverdale.I hear it loud and clear I think Coverdale influenced his singing ans style...

  • Yeah, he must have. Anyway Ray was a great singer. He was great for Sabbath, the best singer Sabbath had after Tony Martin ( in my view, of course) Was he fired or left Sabbath?

  • Lamest crowd ever. Anyways, I searched Badlands on amazon. Used albums went up to $60 and new albums were up to $100.

  • One of THE best ever... nuff said

  • Ray Gillen was like a male Janice Joplin.

  • 4:50 tuning his E lol:}

  • Grande Jake.!!! vieja escuela a lo Zepellin..increible..a toda raja .. wena.....!!!! saludos de Pitrufquen, Chile..!!

  • This is what you call music

    good times ROCK N ROLL

  • I love the way Jake dances while he plays the blues!!

  • Jake one of the best of all time!!!!

  • So great......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Eric Singer is THE drummer

  • The song starts at circa 3:12 :)

    EARGASM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I GOT TO HAVE BADLANDS'S FIRST ALBUM!!!

I guess this band was the new Led Zeppelin.

    R.I.P Ray Gillen :(

  • yes! you need badlands 1, then you'll want everything they touched.

  • This is what's called Rock&Roll! Exactly WHAT do you call the $h1t that you hear these days?

  • Modern Rock. XD

  • That's an awesome gig! Was this filmed for TV because it looks like it has been professionally shot? What was the running order of the setlist? Thanks.

  • These guys were the shit blew every other band off the stage

  • "This ain't no Madonna concert..." WELL put Ray. R.I.P. You are gone, missed etc. but NOT forgotten.

  • at this show were badlands, winger, bulletboys and CINDERELLA as headliner.

  • Brilliant..and ridiculously cool....

  • god damn what a fkn amazing voice this band rock

  • @theausdog Hell yes!!! Ray Gillen had an amazing, incredible voice and I love this band. Too bad it is so hard to find their music. They really need to re-release the first two albums. It's a shame you can't buy this at a Best Buy or even online without buying used for $30 a CD

  • Truly awesome.

  • Jake kinda looked like Jeff Labar back then. Could have passed as brothers. I think Jeff Labar's fro was bigger though. Pretty sure he kept spare picks and strings up in it.

  • I think you meant to say that Jeff Lebar kinda looked like Jake back then lol. Saw Badlands/Cinderella and Tesla in Chicago and it was an awesome show.

  • wow thats alot of hair

  • talk about long hair! Jake looks like Glenn Hughes in the California Jam! Ray blows the roof off the place. the kicked ass

  • THEY ALL ROCK !!!!!!!!!

  • Eric Singer kick ass!!!!

  • Yeah! Eric Singer is the highlight here. The dude KOTJ on that first Badlands album and on the Sab SEVENTH STAR. He hasn't done anything close to those two since IMO.

  • Heavy heavy hitters! Almost too much talent for one band......truly a musician's band. Average folks just didn't get it I don't think. This band was a decade too late to hit their true potential for selling records. Ray was the real deal, Jake was a phenom, Eric Singer was a MONSTER on the kit, and Greg was a 60's style bass player, he could have played behind Hendrix. The second album had a cover of James Taylor's Fire and Rain that made your neck hair stand up!

  • prably the best utube comment I have ever seen GREAT JOB!!! BADLANDS RULES!!

  • Badass! Was lucky enough to see J.E. Lee on the Ultimate Sin tour with Ozzy then on this tour two years later with Badlands(think they were touring with Whitesnake)Jake is an amazing guitarist.

  • You probably saw them with great white and tesla like i did. Good Shit.

  • luv this shit, RIP Ray

  • god jakes tone is just awesome

  • Yeah man I flipped out when my dad told me he and his buddies saw them in a club and were literally a meter away from Jake E. Lee sometime during there sophmore year in college. I'm jealous as $h!t!

  • Badlands is definately one of my favorite bands of all time. They were such a musically tight group! Hard to come across bands like that anymore. Does anyone know if I'd be able to find any shirts of theirs anywhere, or if they made any??

  • Hey, LMrocker i got a t-shirt! I bought it back in '89 at a concert i went to see. That evening BADLANDS played with GREAT WHITE and TESLA. It was sure a damn-good concert, by the way t-shirt is NOT for sale!! Rock-on!!!

  • New Years eve in SF 1989 at the STONE(club) with Vicious Rumors opening!!

  • I envy the people who got to see Badlands perform live! You all are very fortunate!

    Badlands ROCKS!!!!

  • Have a50 minute video of this show.

    IS There more?

  • Black Sabbath lost a great singer and performer. The last true Hard Rock band. Rest in peace Ray!!

  • bros i was there i cant remember what month.i was freshman.this is the first and last time badlands performed in shoreline.anyway they opened the show, along with BULLETBOYS AND WINGER.CINDERRELA was headlining.what a memory.

  • where are the singers and guitarists like this today??

  • no where . . .very perceptive . . . In the day if you couldn't put it in the mic, guess what . . . get a truck, become a contractor . . . no career . . it was that simple...

  • This is a great tune. The "feel" of this song reminds me of "Heartbreaker" (on Led Zeppelin II.) You can see the Zeppelin influence all over these guys, especially in the vocals.

  • Jake had his chops back then..

  • Excellent.

  • BADLANDS! Americas finest!! R.I.P. Ray.!!

  • The last true hard rock band.Amazing.I have three favorite band of this era BADLANDS,BLUE MURDER,LYNCH MOB -God bless them.

  • I agree. To me, Lynch Mob and Badlands were THE guitar groups back then. George and Jake kicked ass. They made my senior year a memorable one. I had fun playing their songs in a cover band in Missouri a few years later.

  • WOW.... no words!!!!
