ive probably watched this video five times today i just cant get over how good jake is those blues licks he does in the beginning are jaw dropping it just goes to show how much someone can do with a guitar without a whammy bar
My god!!! Jake what are you doing brother. This was your lotto Tix .fuck ozzy , he named all his guitar players i'n feb 11 Denver from beginning to end and omitted you, what for drinking too much i'n 86 . Shit saw that tour to Chicago , tenth row . Awesome !! You dissed ray brother . Ray , too your family and friends, god bless you , voice from heaven , brings tears to my eyes brother . This is pure rock and Jake quit hiding out i'n Vegas , you are a great talent, man what a tragedy .. This is
Badlands was a band that could have been an absolute monster if Ray had lived. What an amazing voice...and, Jake...well - no words needed. Just pure badass in concert.
One of the greatest, most talented bands that no-one has ever heard of. Sadly, sometimes great talent gets overlooked, and this is one of the most blatant instances :(
@tammysyl get a grip you clown. And get over yourself you silly person. My last statement meant nothing. I stand reflected....? the fact that you even answered shows the arrogance...silly person...silly silly person.
jake went from ozzy doing something more to his style, ray gillen is an awesome singer, eric singer a killer drummer, a super band, the second album is even better, i think its a definite step up from what he did with ozzy, too bad this band didn't stay together longer,
used albums and new albums... theyre the same self titled badlands album released in 1989 except some have been used... Of course i don't mean new material because Ray Gillen is dead and they disbanded.
@lisduggan64 I thought people in You Tube were smart enough to tell literal meaning from figurative one but I see I was wrong. I apologize for writing things that are beyond you tubers, sorry.
Now that, that is a friggin guitar onslaught! Jake has one of the best guitar syles ever, bluesy, raw and effing heavy, like Page on steroids.....or Billy Gibbons gone metal.....This is the best I've seen him play, absolutley rude ,aggressive and in yo' face-rest of the band kicks ass too......Great post.......Miss this era and its music.....45 and regressing more everyday.......
Yeah, he must have. Anyway Ray was a great singer. He was great for Sabbath, the best singer Sabbath had after Tony Martin ( in my view, of course) Was he fired or left Sabbath?
That's an awesome gig! Was this filmed for TV because it looks like it has been professionally shot? What was the running order of the setlist? Thanks.
@theausdog Hell yes!!! Ray Gillen had an amazing, incredible voice and I love this band. Too bad it is so hard to find their music. They really need to re-release the first two albums. It's a shame you can't buy this at a Best Buy or even online without buying used for $30 a CD
Jake kinda looked like Jeff Labar back then. Could have passed as brothers. I think Jeff Labar's fro was bigger though. Pretty sure he kept spare picks and strings up in it.
I think you meant to say that Jeff Lebar kinda looked like Jake back then lol. Saw Badlands/Cinderella and Tesla in Chicago and it was an awesome show.
Yeah! Eric Singer is the highlight here. The dude KOTJ on that first Badlands album and on the Sab SEVENTH STAR. He hasn't done anything close to those two since IMO.
Heavy heavy hitters! Almost too much talent for one band......truly a musician's band. Average folks just didn't get it I don't think. This band was a decade too late to hit their true potential for selling records. Ray was the real deal, Jake was a phenom, Eric Singer was a MONSTER on the kit, and Greg was a 60's style bass player, he could have played behind Hendrix. The second album had a cover of James Taylor's Fire and Rain that made your neck hair stand up!
Badass! Was lucky enough to see J.E. Lee on the Ultimate Sin tour with Ozzy then on this tour two years later with Badlands(think they were touring with Whitesnake)Jake is an amazing guitarist.
Yeah man I flipped out when my dad told me he and his buddies saw them in a club and were literally a meter away from Jake E. Lee sometime during there sophmore year in college. I'm jealous as $h!t!
Badlands is definately one of my favorite bands of all time. They were such a musically tight group! Hard to come across bands like that anymore. Does anyone know if I'd be able to find any shirts of theirs anywhere, or if they made any??
Hey, LMrocker i got a t-shirt! I bought it back in '89 at a concert i went to see. That evening BADLANDS played with GREAT WHITE and TESLA. It was sure a damn-good concert, by the way t-shirt is NOT for sale!! Rock-on!!!
bros i was there i cant remember what month.i was freshman.this is the first and last time badlands performed in shoreline.anyway they opened the show, along with BULLETBOYS AND WINGER.CINDERRELA was headlining.what a memory.
no where . . .very perceptive . . . In the day if you couldn't put it in the mic, guess what . . . get a truck, become a contractor . . . no career . . it was that simple...
This is a great tune. The "feel" of this song reminds me of "Heartbreaker" (on Led Zeppelin II.) You can see the Zeppelin influence all over these guys, especially in the vocals.
I agree. To me, Lynch Mob and Badlands were THE guitar groups back then. George and Jake kicked ass. They made my senior year a memorable one. I had fun playing their songs in a cover band in Missouri a few years later.
whooops, the drummer that also was the vocalist for racer x was on the voodoo highway album, not this guy here.

nice to see that white charvel guitar again.
he was dating my roommate "LINDA" and that was my fave guitar in his collection.
last i heard they were in veges with kids and all.
this band "Badlands" was going to be the next GnR, but the singer is with the lord now, and that was that.
so sad , if you can find the cd get it, its some of the best metal you will ever hear.
