ENG looks like it was on film - 1979? My guess is that it was. I was an intern at KING in 1983 or so, and I think they were on 3/4" by then. Man, this feels like a million years ago.
"Seven...around two...wrapped by one!" I remember a fricking TIRE COMMERCIAL TAGLINE from when I was in grade school, but I can't recall the names of half the kids I went to school with. "How Come?" THAT, Al Wallace!
Those huge console TVs in the Colortyme commercial are SO UGLY! About as ugly as the '70s fashions on the commercial's announcer. The '70s are so unforgiving, but it did give Fox "That '70s Show" and its occasional funnies.
I just caught the hilarious local Renton dudes hanging out in the background after the bomb scare at 5:29 !
My loser older step-brother, who is now a slimeball mortgage broker in San Diego, used to hang out with guys like that all the time in late 1970's Kirkland (before Kirkland was cool) to the great annoyance of my mother! Hilarious!
I grew up in Seattle in the 70's, and all these KING5 faces were like seeing old friends again! I also remember the late 70's being very brown, everything seemed brown and tan and beige, and the commercials at 2:30 prove my memory correct. Thank you so much for the fun time warp!
Check out the duds on that guy striking a pose on the sidewalk behind the Renton police sergeant at the end of the video! And I love the cop's sheepish reaction when asked what the suspicious device was: "It was a man's, uhh, electric comb."
Jean Enersen gracefully handles a camera miscue at 01:41, too.
Jeff, Linda, and Jean are all still there!

Also remember Jeff Renner's beard. At least he didn't shave off the stache, unlike that Raible character.

What year did Al Wallace pass away? I know it was before How Come's cancellation. Still miss that guy.
