Thanks john for all the great information you gave me I will be looking into that product autosol that you where telling me about cause I'm going to try and polish out a motorcycle frame next so I could use all the help I can get so thanks again for the info it is greatly appreciated. Marc
@marcocasio01 - Thanks for the great comments Marc. Over the winter the aluminum that I polished in the video's will need to be touched and I will be using Autosol for this. Good luck with your bike project. Make sure to visit my website. If you like, I would be happy to post pictures and information of you polishing jobs in the polishing section of the website. John
This was a great video I always wondered how to use those polishing bars. I just recently polished out the mag wheels on my 1985 Mazda rx7 the factory ones and I found that I got great results with using mothers aluminum polish I stripped the clear of them then I wet sanded them with 220,400,&600 and got a beautiful finish they look like chrome and when I polished them all I did was use one wheel on a drill and polished it like three times to get a great finish just incase you would like to try
@marcocasio01 - So many ways to achieve the same end product. I did exactly the same thing over 30 years ago, but at that time I finished with AutoSol. I still use AutoSol today and suspect it is similar to the Mothers product. You can even touch up with any silver polish for silverware. Many of these products have anti tarnishing agents in them to help preserve the finish and shine. John
Speed of the polishing disks is not the issue. You will need to remove the clear coat from the wheels first and then do some hand sanding to remove any of the rough finish before starting with the buffing wheels.
it looks so good in the video, I tried polishing my 240sx wheels the other day using the same enkay compounds and a drill, worked for 2 hours and nothing happened, maybe I
Thanks for viewing and the good comment. I have more videos coming on polishing and one showing the final product on my Vette. I agree, every shop should have a buffing wheel to make shinny things.
