I felt sad to hear Mr. Nuri has lost some of his voice and cant sing the high notes, perhaps he is not as young as he used to be. Once his powerful voice could reach those notes. Though always a pleasure to listen to him.
He sang at my parents wedding 53 years ago!! If you listen to the original version of this song by him you can see that its actually a very difficult song to sing and would require tremendous lung control which is difficult at any age but gets much harder for anyone over 70. I love this song and I love his voice. By the way, has anyone noticed the pianist and violinist are very good looking ..thats the second reason I've watched this 20 times already ;)
infact he is out of tune occasionally but a performance is about a package. Apparently a huge number of people enjoyed it which makes it worthwhile. That's what music is about, never forget that friends :)
I'll admit I'm not favoriting this video but if 54 people did, I'm glad it was made available to them :)
It's also a very Iranian thing to list your credentials to try to intimidate the opponent in a debate, but music is the one place where credentials shouldn't matter. Music is about the soul, not degrees. If you were a musician, not just a student of music, you'd know that. I am a musician myself, I recognize what's attractive and what's not attractive about his performance. I don't come here and start using terminology that is alien to many viewers like an ass.
Jamesh kon boro baba musique55. This is not a music forum, we came here to see this video and enjoy it. We don't care about your analysis, this isn't the place for you to come and give your (unprofessional) analysis on his vocals. It's such an Iranian thing to come in the middle of everybody's fun and start playing the part of the "smart person" only what's different here is you are not even being grandiloquent or impressive in the least.
What our friend musique55 fails to realize is that this person was more than 65 when he did this concert. The first time he sang this song was in the 1960s.
Of course given the new generation's obsession with low-quality LA-type music, there is a basic issue of taste differences.
Ok.this song is one of my favorite songs and I am still a big fan of the "oldie" Iranian pop songs.I study music at university and am trained classically voice, violin and piano.this guy is 65 but doesn't mean that he should sing out of tune.I don't know,I guess I just compare things with here in Canada where you must be really good in order to be given such big concert to perform otherwise no one comes to watch you!but as I said I know how things work in Iran.
You stated that you are a music student. Please do us all a big favor, once you graduate from the music school and are awarded your degree then let us know of your opinion. Meanwhile start taking other courses such as sociology, anthropology and social etiquette, they will help you through different stages of life and how to respect legends and appreciate their talent as imperfect as their tune might sound to the student's ears.
This guy is a legend, his name is "MOhammad Nuri" for your information. maybe you should blame it on your lack of knowledge rather than talking about something you don't know anything about.
One more thing this song "Jaan e Maryam" belongs to this singer and other singers are just trying to copy him.
Noori is not in the U.S?I listend to his songs when I was very young and this song is one of my favorites.if he is the same Noori then I am very disappointed because I really loved him when I was 7-8.I do know everything about this music and song, probably alot more than you do.I am a music student in university and i am trained professionally in voilin, piano and voice.trust me,he doesn't sing well.his pitch is really all over the place.

oh Holly Sh... who is this guy? he is totally out of tune.does he really claim to be a singer?people, please don't waste your time going to his concert. has neither a good voice nor a singing technique.completely fake.sorry.but I know how things work in Iran :-(
whoever he is,Stephen Harper or Bush.if you are not a dummy, then convince me and tell me your point not bombarding me with bunch of swear words.i gave that comment based on the musical konwledge i have as a master student in music(voice, violin and piano)but as I had mentioned,I know the level of music in Iran.I love this song and many other "oldie" iranian pop songs.I have sang and played many of them too.
