I think one thing you might have missed though is that iron ore deposits ran out and there were both food AND iron shortages at the end of the Roman empire. I think your knowledge of the Romans as demonstrated on this page is rather good. I think one thing you might have missed though is that iron ore deposits ran out and there were both food AND iron shortages at the end of the Roman empire. It is why you often see EARLY Medieval armies in only chain mail and not full breast plate. Plus the government just ran out of money and couldn't afford a lot of armor too.

The roman army declined just because the Roman empire declined, the late Roman army especially couldnt even be described as Roman, the various and NOT critical victories were out of the Roman military tradition and the officer corps experience but nevertheless the the army was barbarized and the fighting capabilities became the same with any other army, the "Roman" army composed by Barbarians was just another army with the material backing of the empire

oh its very true. the only points you make are that the army was barbarized..it looks like it didnt have any effect on how the Romans destroyed barbarians and had them pleading for mercy whilst brought to the emperor. Adrianople was a fluke on the emperors part. HE was the one who lost it making bad descisions. Romans still won battles 9/10. The reason why they dont record it is because of the small scale of it..
