Great video! We head down to Nags Head every summer. We were there 3 wks ago.Hoping and praying the beautiful beach is spared from Hurricane Irene. Seeing this just brings me back! Thanks
Nag's Head is a freaky place.I worked there for 2 weeks a few years ago helping remodel a KMart.Pretty cool place.Weird obsession with pirates though. What's up with that?
@youngdrodeau I know where that's at, near the recently built movie theatre? The one that has a beach speciality shop? We used to go to OBX a whole lot, but with the economy and also the fact we've done most of what there is to be done(we went there about every year) I will have to go there myself someday though, gotta save my money up!!
@vidEvWill ..Oh they just built a movie theatre huh?Good for them. There isn't much to do there.Me & my co-workers use to shoot pool everynight. Most of the ppl that were there during the day when we were working, commuted from out of town.So by the time we got off the place was a ghosttown.Seemed like an OK place for a beachside vacation if you prefer a smaller crowd than say a Venice Beach or someplace.
@youngdrodeau what place did you shoot pool at? I know several places. I know there's not much to do there, we've gone to Nags Head about every year since '96 but we haven't gine recently because there is not much to do there.
@vidEvWill ..Dont remember man.It was like 3 years ago.And I might actually've been in Kill Devil Hills. We never really knew where Nag's Head ended & KDH began.I know the pool hall is pretty close to the Wright Brothers Days Inn thats right on the coastline.Thats where we stayed. And the pool hall was about a 10-20 minute walk away.
Your video is particularly haunting. The Outer Banks have been a part of my life my entire life. My family has owned a small house on the beach since the early 60s. I lived there five summers, working seven days a week at Wink's and then the Kitty Hawk Fishing Pier.
The house has nearly washed away a number of times and has even been moved back toward the road once in the 70s, but . . . it's still there.
I walk from 11st in Southern Shores on the beach. I know exactly which stairwell it is to take to get all the way down right next to Winks !! It takes me 40 minutes to walk it !!!
Our little house on the beach is so distinctive, with such a great view, that a motion picture by an award winning director was filmed there recently. We have the trailer. I'll try to post it on YouTube.
it sure is. i go there a week every single summer. I love it because its a great beach but isn't crowded at all. plus very fun restraunts to eat at. Thanks for the post!

there's a good chance the house you stayed at isn't there now - or if it is it's been condemned
snoopdogger 2 years ago
Yes, this was Rickabau around 20th street. It was blown away last year, unfortunately.
crazedmule 2 years ago
28 houses so far have been condemned. The town has told the owners they must move them or they will be demolished. It's a mess down there right now!
snoopdogger 2 years ago
That's a bummer. Those Nags beaches are really getting hit hard recently. But you go up to Kitty Hawk and most of the old places are still there.

How is the surf??
Wsandler 2 years ago
Not giant. Depends on the weather, but generally you'll get five foot swells. There are usually surfers hanging out on the edge of the sandbar.

As am I. Which will go first?

You both survived this long. The ocean hasn't claimed you yet, so you both must be tough!
