  • I think you're a Gavin Harrison's great fan xD the way you play and the set up...

  • Just accidentally ran across your vids...normally, I dont steal anything from anyone...but I must admit it...Im in the process of stealing some of your "grooves and riffs"...Love your style~ you play really tight and youre one of the few drummers that knows how to "let it breathe" and what dynamics are and how to utilize it for the best effect. Thanks for posting dude...

  • awesome, lovely stuff - all the best for 2011

  • I am in love with 5:47

  • Hey man, just wanted to say thanks for the mini chime idea. I cracked my 16" sabian crash and cut it down to a 5" mini chime, it's sweet haha :)

  • Hey man

    Awesome sound and fills!

Was wondering what drum mics you are using? Is it a set or a mixture of brands?

    They sound the business!!!

  • Damn, that micing equipment aint bad.

  • AHA! You cut down cymbals to just like I did. Gavin being my favorite drummer I always admired his bells so my dad and I cut out the bells from all our 20 or more broken cymbals. Its great to see someone else do it.

  • your chimes also sound really nice :) did you make them yourself from old chrashes? ^^

  • subscribing you any without doubt! your playing is just a pure beaty

  • you have the groove

  • sweet and fresh =] very very good man =]

  • Sick drumming groove bro! Lots of respect for you! keep it up man xD

  • awesome :-P

  • do you like it gavin harrison:>?

    sweet.

  • How much did u practice a day to get those skill after 2 fucking years of drumming? 5 Hours?...

    greetz

  • what mics are you using? your kit sounds sweet

  • Great stuff. I really like your style. How long have you been playing?

  • This is great! awesome groove you got there. Yes, bit sloppy but its not meant to be anything superwicked. keep it going!

  • Great playing!

  • great quality, man. good playing as well, i really like your hats. did you change the sound of them while mixing at all?

  • thanks man, aside from a high-pass filter there's nothing changed about the hihats. Some engineers will boost overheads and hats at around 10khz to get more sparkly sound, but I was happy with them without any modifications.

  • alright cool, thanks. yeah, i wanted a brighter pair of high hats but, still dark aside from my K Custom High Definitions and yours sound great to me.

  • great style and cymbals! reminds me gavin harrison:D

  • you a bad boy!!

  • great sound!! its just what im looking for but how do you get the drum channels separated when recording in pro tools m powered if your mixer is not m audio?..and do you get every drum by itself so you can eq each one different?

  • whole range of amazingly sounded cymbals you have there.

and that was great playing on your part.

  • Love your drumming ! :D

  • Awesome sound, what mics and set? :)

  • great sound on the recordings. interesting choice to mic the ride, and it came out great. what is your signal chain when you do these recordings?

  • You certainly have a great setup. One of the best home-recorded kits I've heard yet.

  • dude those mini chimes are sweet how did you get them?

  • nice job mate, u got the wrist :)

  • what is your drum set and what cymbals do u use

  • great sound Chris. You have a Billy Copham sound-love your use of all the symbols!

  • To whoever posted below saying it was boring, being a drummer myself I only have one thing to say: the beauty is in the simplicity. Open space in the playing is amazingly effective. Great playing!

  • How exactly did you manufacture that cupchimes? Did you just cut the bell out of a bunch of crashes?

  • what snare do u have?

  • i agree, it's boring for me to watch as well...i've progressed a lot since i did this (almost a year ago), I feel like my playing is more exciting to watch, and my improvisation and groove has certainly come a long way in my opinion. Watch soon for some new videos :)

    thanks

  • good stuff :)

  • don't say that to that many drummers, but good stuff :)

  • very tasty licks... I really dig your tone! ^^

  • LMFAO AHAHAHA UR COMMENT LMAO!

  • Your little chimes are amazing and what you did with em at 0:40 was just crazy! I love your drumming, and you've got some inspiration from Gavin right?

  • Hey man u rock i mean u have a structure like 1 or 2 beats in the solo then u do sum fills here and there then go back into the beat and then u play quite then loud this s everything a solo should be keep it up im well impressed

  • id love to tell me tips for stick holding and control :D please???:P

  • very impressive

  • your stick holding is crazy ;)

  • 3:38 thru 3:48 was very mitch mitchell lol.

  • I want to marry your chimes. Lmao, they're so wicked dude - what cymbals did you cut them down from?

  • Comment removed

  • cool I recognize that at about 2:50 you start to play the "Jeff Porcaro Shuffle" ! ;) nice drumming, love your kit. Keep on rocking ^^ xD

  • And at about 3:50 you start to play something that sounds like the song Stop Swimming by PT. I love that song, I play it on drums too, it's so relaxing :P

  • That's no Porcaro shuffle, that's the "Purdie Shuffle!"

  • i dunno, it sounds like the pearty shuffle to me.

  • Well ok, Jeff Porcaro's shuffle is built by ideas from the "Purdie Shuffle" .. I haven't heard the purdie shuffle in much details but it might be the purdie shuffle Chris is playing here. You're right ^^

  • my bad, I've never seen it spelled.

  • sounds really nice

  • is your bass drum stuffed or empty? amazing sound!

  • hi. great playing and great sound.. i would like to get into this recording, so your mics are hooked up to the mackie 16 chan mixer??? and do you need pro-tools soft wear i have a line 6 recorder and a fostex mr-8HD. and do i need the m-audio firewire & profire i would like to no what my options are pleaz reply thnkx

  • Hi, nice playing. I must ask about those 3 chimes/bells what are they? Have u made them by yourself or are those zil-bells or what?

  • Jesus, it's written in the video description:

"4 mini-chimes (cut from larger crashes)"

  • chill out

  • U should fill out a form to zildjian asking them for a sponsorship. im sure theyd at least give u a level b or c. ask sonor too. who knows, u might get some free stuff.

  • 5:28 - 5:53 Thats just so damn cool. Id like too to play like that! Just fantastic amazing! I want more please! :)

  • what kind of china is that on 5:59

  • that's a 16" wuhan or similar (cheap cymbal!)

check the "more info" off to the side, and you'll see a full setup breakdown.

    take care!

  • more please?

  • holyyyy shit>!>!>! cheesyy ur a retard ur snare sounds amazing dude.. it actually sounds alot like mine...check out my vid if u hav time

  • i'd prefer a bit dryer snare, better for ghosting. but that's my opinion :]

  • no worries :) i actually dont like this mix, and have improved things alot since then (nearly 5 months ago!!)

  • ok firstly, two years. What the hell. I've been playing for 12 year and you and I would make a great solo together. Secondly, best mixing and mike job EVER. Kit sounds fantastic.

  • your drum and cymbal sound is exactly like gavin harrison

  • Very mature playing for only two years. Sounds excellent man. Your bass and snare tone are near perfect. If you wouldn't mind, how do you set your kick up? PS 3, head tension, any pillows, or muffling of the front head, ect.

  • haha i love you...!

  • sounds like your playing whit a bass

  • that groove you rock into at 5:30 is mad

  • hey man, i was wondering what u think of the k hi hats, i might be getting them. can u play any sort of loud stuff on em??

    yours sound great!!

  • very nice man!.. you're really good.. if i havent have read your page i would have though you have been drumming since you were born haha! and i dont say that to everyone!! :P

    Ian

  • those three little chime cymbals sound like water dropping in a huge cave. awesome!

  • The first beat reminds me of Liquid Tension Experiment.

The tuning sounds like Opeth and Martin Lopez : D

  • cool! great play and great kit!

  • how did you make those mini chimes

  • Really solid drumming! Great to see some musicianship on youtube. How did you make the mini-chimes?

  • man i want your drumset...or atleast the cymbals, ha..dem badass...

  • well, I dont say this much but...your pretty good and as a drummer it's really nice to see another drummer doing something other than go-as-fast-as-you-possibly-can-and-mash-everything. nice job bro.

(two years? I would have said four at least...)

  • thanks man :) i just concentrate on making everything feel really good first. Adding speed and flash can come later!

  • Playing for only two years and have this enormous mother fucking good set?

    Please, go fuck yourself :)

  • my god, jealous.

  • of course i am, lol

  • O M F G!! That snare sounds more than amazing!!! i´d kill for that one!

  • Hey man you play the drums very nice!!!!!, dude just one question, Can you tell me what's your configuration on your recording equipment? I mean wire diagram or something else.

    Thanks.. Bro

Sorry about my poor english and cheerz!!!!

  • thanks for the post!!

i was deciding on an i5 for top snare, now after hearing the i5/57 combo i'm definitely getting it.

    Thanks again,

    ---mike---

  • What mics did you use to record this, it sounds amazing!

    Really tight playing, love it.

  • XD sorry, just read description.

Seriously though, amazing sound - haven't heard something so good in a long time.

  • Wow... So much feeling dude... very good! How long have you been playing?

  • thanks man :) i've been playing almost 2 years now

  • Just excellent! Can't stop watching it! Amazing grooves! Don't stop man or I'll beat you! Keep on rocking!

  • muyben feeling, la neta,

  • great sounding kit and mix! very impressive

  • Oh and hey did you cut those m ini-chimes from thicker crashes or thinner crashes? I definitely gotta try that out!

  • You are an amazing drummer dude. Very creative =D. This is the kind of video that inspires me. Very kickass.

  • 5.05 for life!

  • OMFG all those little splash and bell fills sound so sweet. 0:07 and 0:42 is cool

  • Is that a splash stacked on your left crash? I used to do that, but one day something strange happend when I hit it, the splash split in half, and one of the fragments hit me in my shoulder, got a scar. Though I guess that was a 1/1000000 time thing, so.. rofl. :P

  • Hey man great video. I watch all of these all of the time. If you ever need a drum-tech for touring, you know who to... Well I guess message or contact in some form. Haha. Keep it up man.

  • This is awesome. Your drums, cymbals and, of course, playing sound fantastic. I've probably mentioned this before but you have a similar feel to Gavin Harrison. I love these compilation videos, too. I've a handful of them as well and it'd be cool if you checked them out.

  • Gavin Harrison ! That's just what I thought !

  • Your mics sound amazingly good, i thought it was triggers at first. sweet playing too, i really liked that polyrhythmish groove @ 1:34

  • Nice grooves man, very flowing and smooth.

Should make another one of these types of vidoes.

  • i want all your splashes and your bells!

    nice grooves man.

    keep it up =D

    adMan

  • me too lol

    it sounds awesome!

  • me too.

    great playing man.
