The Challenger is way too heavy, but IT IS NOT 600 pounds more than the Shelby. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT. The Shelby Mustang is over 3900 pounds itself (look it up), which is why I'd rather have the Mustang Boss 302. (Lower power, but lower weight, at a little over 3600 pounds.)

@healthyamerican Sorry, let me clarify: I'd rather have the Boss 302 over the Shelby GT500. You're correct that the Challenger is in a class by itself, and I'm a total Mopar guy... LOVE the Challenger. I just wish it were lighter and less expensive, because when I buy a new car, I will base it partly on price, and I think a 392 Challenger will be a bit out of reach.

@DemonOphidians well they now have 305 hp instead of 250 but 250 wasnt too shabby either. its mpgs arent bad but the 5.7 gets almost the same, ive heard as much as 25 mpgs and slightly higher, so for me id rather get the 5.7 but then again i love my v8's. now they have trim packages that make them identical to the v8 so the v6 now can have the v8 accessories with the r/t , srt body stripes and dual exhaust. so really between the v6, v8 its a win/win.
The best all-American, genuine muscle car on the road. Better build quality than the Mustang, and much better appearance than the Camaro. The Challenger SRT8 with the 392 Hemi is a fantastic car at an unbeatable price.

@CoolLikePenguinNuts well i dont see how its going to get lighter unlees it gets fiberglass or carbon fiber body parts this car is heavy and bulky and you can always put the stuff back in once your done trying to go fast i have one and its not built with lightness in mide you would have to completely rebuild the body to get it any lighter
@CoolLikePenguinNuts that's kind of the idea tho, it's a comfortable ride for a daily driver in addition to being something you can have fun with on these kinds of roads. the gt500 is awesome but not something i'd want to drive regularly.
@CoolLikePenguinNuts Seeing as how the original Challenger weighted in at 3,800lbs and this comes in at about 4,100, and manages to be (as stated in the video) "remarkably comfortable" while being hella fast, I have no problem with it, in fact I'm glad they made it like they did. Because right now, this is the ONLY new muscle car you can buy, the Mustang isn't even in its pony car status any more, its just a meh sports car, and the Camaro is dropping through the pony car status.

And more of an eye treat to see, unlike the numerous Mustangs and Camaros I constantly see rolling around. I used to love the 2010 Camaro, but they lost my appeal once I started seeing one on every corner. I don't see many 2010 - current Mustangs, but everyone has a stang. Now a Challenger? @Richiesmad I'm not really refering to the Z rating on the tires. If you look at a lot of the super sports SUV's, and big fast sedans, or the Mercedes SL class. A lot of those vehicles aren't limited by aerodynamics. They are limited by the tire manufacturers not being able to produce a tire rated to handle that kind of friction with 2 plus tons of weight at a sustained high speed. Some old race car driver swore up and down that lightness wasn't all speed it was to save tires too.
no terror factor?? well it weights much more than the GT500 and also has lots less HP.. and it still making numbers that can almost kill the GT500. you should thow in the same supercharger of the GT500 and it will eat the GT500..
@skatepunkzero I drove a 1320 Challenger and it had the same independent rear end but did have an air locker for the diff. I ran a few passes on it at Moroso Drag Strip on a hot day and it did wheel hop a bit but was so dang fun!
@BandCShow11dy6 i live in florida as well and most of the roads here are crappy as i can tell even will all the tolls they get to keep them in shape. but im here there is a way to get a straight axel for it. i know the car is a good drag racer but i dont know at what extreme you are drag racing. the engine is a built race motor so you can get a lot more out of it if you wanted as well

@lokichaos2 This is such a good car. The shifter complaint was an honest call out and really my only gripe. I had this car for a few days and overall was amazing...during my commute to work I was getting almost 20 MPG which blew me away.
@autoedit The shifter is called a pistol grip, it matchs the door handles...I own one and an old one, I love the pistol grip, its thick smooth and mean, something like my knob lol...bad call on the shifter my friend, its the nicest ever
@bestofsevenrules I didn't complain about the pistol grip...I even said that part was awesome...it's the vague feel of this shift pattern and the fact that even in gear there's a couple inches of wiggle in the shifter. Not acceptable at all in a performance car!!!

Can anybody tell me what are the chances of this model being a classic? I know that there were only 1100 of them made but what is the true likeability that this vehicle will be valuable in the future? @dannydevito64 it has a compltely new drivetrain, clutch, 3.92 posi, 470 (factory horsepower), new engine (392 Hemi) and is 470 factory horsepower, unique engine and suspension. Its a collector.
I think all three are great cars each company does what makes them proud they'll have there pros/cons we can agree on one thing there all sweet cars some are better in different aspects but the challenger primary build wasnt for a bunch of turns in a road race it was heavy had muscle back then and i like that there sticking to that idea but with the economy and job market they just can't afford to do it top notch they wouldn't make any money like to see comeback of 340 360 383 400 426 440 b nice

@SLaYD666 personally I disagree. I enjoy the GPS. It has helped me out signicantly. As for the Carbon-Fiber I do not know If I would be confortable with that material for protection. However I must add I do not know if it would be safer than metal. I would welcome education in that area.

@CoolLikePenguinNuts Seeing as how the original Challenger weighted in at 3,800lbs and this comes in at about 4,100, and manages to be (as stated in the video) "remarkably comfortable" while being hella fast, I have no problem with it, in fact I'm glad they made it like they did. Because right now, this is the ONLY new muscle car you can buy, the Mustang isn't even in its pony car status any more, its just a meh sports car, and the Camaro is dropping through the pony car status.

@CoolLikePenguinNuts Yeah, Dodge REALLY needs to put the Challenger on a strict diet. But regardless of the weight, it's still a fun car to drive. And more of an eye treat to see, unlike the numerous Mustangs and Camaros I constantly see rolling around. I used to love the 2010 Camaro, but they lost my appeal once I started seeing one on every corner. I don't see many 2010 - current Mustangs, but everyone has a stang. Now a Challenger? Gives me an orgasm when I see one. Big girls need lovin too.

@Richiesmad I'm not really refering to the Z rating on the tires. If you look at a lot of the super sports SUV's, and big fast sedans, or the Mercedes SL class. A lot of those vehicles aren't limited by aerodynamics. They are limited by the tire manufacturers not being able to produce a tire rated to handle that kind of friction with 2 plus tons of weight at a sustained high speed. Some old race car driver swore up and down that lightness wasn't all speed it was to save tires too.

@skatepunkzero I drove a 1320 Challenger and it had the same independent rear end but did have an air locker for the diff. I ran a few passes on it at Moroso Drag Strip on a hot day and it did wheel hop a bit but was so dang fun!

@lokichaos2 This is such a good car. The shifter complaint was an honest call out and really my only gripe. I had this car for a few days and overall was amazing...during my commute to work I was getting almost 20 MPG which blew me away.

@hilde198881 It's not the engine. The engine is quite piss poor. It's mustangs weight that wins against the Chevy and Dodge counterpart. The mustang is not a "Muscle" car, it's a "Pony" car. It's classified this because of it's low liter engine. A 5.0L engine is puny next to what the Camaro and Challenger have. Problem with the Camaro and Challenger are their HUGE weight.

I know that there were only 1100 of them made but what is the true likeability that this vehicle will be valuable in the future? I think all three are great cars each company does what makes them proud they'll have there pros/cons we can agree on one thing there all sweet cars some are better in different aspects but the challenger primary build wasnt for a bunch of turns in a road race it was heavy had muscle back then and i like that there sticking to that idea but with the economy and job market they just can't afford to do it top notch they wouldn't make any money like to see comeback of 340 360 383 400 426 440 b nice
