Pre Pearl Harbor Churchill had been begging Roosevelt for more assistance (many times) with fighting the Nazis, but all he'd received was double talk and the Lend and Lease. Roosevelt used his brain and saw an opportunity to bleed Britain dry (weaken its empire), and boost the industrial output of the US. Little interest was in helping Britain.
These films are all the more interesting, due to time period.
