Connie Nielsen is a goddess and a very fine actress, too. Everyone should see "Brothers" (made in her native Denmark). I thought Connie Nielsen was sensational as Lucilla in Gladiator, I mean, her accent was outstanding - how did she get the accent off do good? I heard a bit of the Danish though, when she said "honour him", there was that Diane Kruger-ish twang to it, check it again. Kruger is another Nordic (Abigail Chase in the National Treasure Movies) - her accent is pretty Danish flare, she says things like "heeere" and "over theeeeyre" : P

Its pretty much the same region. She's Northern Germany, nearer to the Danish Border. I'm Danish and half my family on my Dad's side are of Germanic Descent anyway. Its pretty much a generalization, Southern Nordic and Saxon are pretty close.

No, I'm half Danish, as in my Dad and his family are from Copenhagen and yeah I lived there till from about 2 till I was 5/6, but my family spoke in English all the time so I never picked Danish up really. Sadly its not offered as a language in schools here in the UK or Ireland. I know some words though. You see, to me, German, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish and Finish sound incredibly similar. I guessed afterwards you'd probably replied in Danish.

Jruger and Nielsen are both from "that neck of the woods". Saxony German is close to the Danish Border, its that region and Denmark is considered Baltic really, more than Nordic.
