You need it to be extremely reliable, but still you overclock the processor? That just doesn't make sense. Why would you even need an overclocked system just for data storage? Only gives a higher chance of data corruption....
@ewievissers You're right theoretically. I factory overclock a lot of the systems that I build for customers, so I like to try as many different overclocks on as many configurations as I possibly can. That is my reason for overclocking this system. I should have mentioned it.
@GigabyteC300 There are different types of RAID some for performance and some for redundancy, some for a balance of both. For example RAID 0 is purely for performance but has no redundancy. With RAID 1 you loose half your storage capacity, but if a drive fails you still have your data. The list goes on.
@SingularityComputers Thats great! I always loved watching your video's, but the black border bothered me somehow :( Because fullscreen wasn't really fullscreen.
nice , for storage i use lian li EX-503 with 5x 2tb WD caviar black !

Raid, for important data storage, isn't there a greater risk of losing the data if one of the drives fails?
GigabyteC300 9 months ago
@GigabyteC300 not if you use raid 1
