  • Thank you so much, ur video was sooo much help for a beginner, it was so mush easier than trying to read instructions, do you have videos out that can be purchased?

  • ok where the heck is the video that shows you hwo to finish the scarf???

  • do you think the double crochet stitch would look nice for a scarf for a man?

  • can i keep doing a single crochet troughout the entire scarf?

  • There is some dispute if this is a DC In all of my books this stitch is double crochet. I have had to learn US and UK names for stitches and if I am not sure I check it out on the internet.

There are no "rules" as stitches have different names, check on the internet that's what it's there for. I would personally like to thank you young lady for taking the time to make these video's .

Personally I would like to thank the young Lady for her time.

  • Did you guys ever hear a guy's faint voice in this video at 0:40? Sounded like the words "that's it". $hit....freaked me the hell out! I'm NOT kidding!...Listen to it closely.

  • Did you guys ever hear a guy's faint voice in this video at 0:40? Sounded like the words "that's it". Shit....freaked me the hell out! I'm NOT kidding!...Listen to it closely.

  • @wahinesurfergirl i didnt hear anything...

  • @TheHappyperson111 It's very, very faint. It's like someone whispered "that's it". Try hearing it with head phones on. It's super creepy. :(

  • The British names for stitches are different than the American. She's possibly using the British system? In my crochet book, there is a chart that compares the two. The American slip stitch is the UK's single crochet, the American single crochet is the UK's double crochet, etc. But, I'm just a beginner, what do I know?

  • @GrrlCurry This is not the British version. This is an extended single crochet. The British version of the DC is exactly the same as the american version.

  • Yeah, everyones right. Yes everyone has their own techniques, but the rules of the stitch stay the same a DC is a yarn over,

Insert hook in the next stitch to be worked,

    Yarn over hook,

    Pull yarn through stitch,

    Yarn over hook.

Pull yarn through 2 loops on hook.

    Yarn over hook,

Pull yarn through last 2 loops on hook (one double crochet made).

  • Yeah, that isn't a double crochet. Odd that she doesn't know that and she's working for expert village. Maybe I should start a car building blog.

  • can you so us how you do ahalf double stich.

  • that is not double crochet

  • So.. Allisa, You teach the chain stich, the single stich, the double and triple (in that order). So am I safe to assume that you can use any ONE of these stiches or combination of the 3? OR, must you use the chain, then the single, then the double, and then the triple?? Please let me know..

  • Out of all the videos I have watched on "how to", I think she is the best. My 10 yr old daughter learned from it.

There are all kind of versions. Every one has there own techniques.

I think there are many other things to do with your life, like learn something new, instead of critisizing. come on, why do you feel like you have to make a positive a negative? If that makes you happy, you must have a really borring life.

  • err... that's not a double crochet. o_O

  • This isn't a double crochet, it's an extended single crochet. Doesn't matter who taught you, it's still not a dc. Check Crochet Guild of America, they have the correct instructions. And the reason we're watching is that we're amazed at the misinformation being given out.

  • I took a class fromn an old lady and that's how she taught me too. Right or wrong it still works. I also find it interesting that people who have apparently mastered this fine art are watching this how to video....

  • There is only one way I have ever seen double crochet done and that is not it, so you were taught wrong as well. And I have not "mastered" anything, I was actually searching for patterns and saw her use a different stitch from another video and I was trying to find the video completing THAT stitch and stumbled across this.

  • I have to agree...I've never seen a double crochet like that....its looks more like a half single crochet.

  • wow people does it really matter if it's the right or wrong way to do a double crochet stitch? As long as it comes out fine who really cares right...get over it!

  • im not trying to be messed but mbt77, THAT is not how you do a double crochet stitch.

  • @calligraphylover <_< that's how I was taught in home ech.

  • @calligraphylover

    ...ya

that's true!! haha...buttttt, maybe there are different ways....you know....

    hahaha

  • A double crochet is when you wrap the yarn around the crochet hook, and THEN pull a loop through. So watch again, and explain to me how this is a double crochet.

  • Yeah, that's not a true double crochet stitch. :P

  • dat is not how u do a double crochet stitch!

  • Dat? What's dat? Do you mean THAT? Yes, it is. That IS how you do a double crochet stitch people. My grandmother taught me like a million years ago and she'd know better than most of you. I would think that the people who are teaching this know what they are talking about too.

  • A million years is a long time...perhaps your memory has faded?

Or perhaps there's a more compelling reason why you and our lovely Alissa must be right and everyone else mistaken?

  • mine did too!
