this is so cooooool!!!!!!!!!!!! four elements are four different styles of martial arts in china. Air- cirular, water flowing movents of tai chi, earth inner strenth and fire complex karate
@xemnas7777777 No Martial art is better the the other if you think that a style is better then another style your just a shitty Martial Artist and your not gonna mentally or physically progress at all.
@Meskenit Most martial arts today are not practical fighting techniques. The only style I would trust my life to, in modern times would be Krav Maga, which is still very new.
@darnit44 ba gua is so fun, i actually study it. if you want a great book in it, check out Dr. Painter's "Combat Baguazhang Nine Dragon System: Forms and Principles" . My teacher said that is the best ba gua book out there
@lovegood300 It consists of Tai Chi, both a martial art and also a meditation art. I have been practicing it for a year now, it's really cool!!! You'll find that you'll really develop strong legs, your motion has to be always fluid, relatively slow and steady.
@Mushorwell And there is one specific stance I still struggle with where you balance on one leg and do a high front kick, then you bring your leg back but keep the knee up, and then you have to rotate 180 degrees on the leg you were balancing on before kicking again! There are many variations but look up Tai chi chuan.
ok now I know..ehehe...I'm gonna record a video of me, explaining what I learn on this vid. I'm also gonna practice the chinese martial arts..ehehe seriously I'll do it~ no joke~
very cool stuff, since i now live in china. i have a kung fu master that lives 3 blocks away. i have to say its not like the regular shit people ar used to in america. very different. i am making my focus to be mainly the northern shaolin styles of fighting wich he is a master in :)
If i were in the avatar's world i would be a waterbender. the style of waterbending is Yang Style Tai Chi. i have been doing it for 5 years. it may not seen as amazing as kung fu but it has it's power.
not to argue myself but my teacher taught us that tai chi was created before, or around the same time as kung fu. he once said tai chi was derived from yoga and tai chi was used as the founding principle of kung fu.
very interesting. that makes sense, kung fu was generated from what the martial art that was introduced by bikshu bodhi dharma, may be chinese already had tai chi and they coupled it to create kung fu. I need to do more research on that. thanks for the info
Nationalist19 is right and as Sifu kisu mentioned in tai chi that breath is used as in narthern style (water and fire bending respectfully) so Tai Chi is in nearly all styles of kung fu in some way
i've finally completed the airbending next is the waterbending aghhhhhh and earthbending aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and firebending what the f*** i'll use fire yeah
OMG one time I did one of those flips and actidentally kicked someone in the face! I'm a master and I didn't even know it cus I actually knocked the dude out!
People please do not try to do these moves in an actual combat scenario because these moves were based of off real martial arts but were then altered to fit the show so please do not use these moves in an actual fight and if you have questions or comments about my knowledge please put it on my profile.
hhmm think of it this way if your realy tall your mussles are strogner so yoru proply beeter at power based martial arts. i think if your fat(like me) then you can't do the more complex styles that reqiure lember ness i think im stuck with earth beedning. besides tha majorityof all earth benderes were HUGE the air benderes were veery skinny and those two styles are opposit
every martial art is just as equal as the next in power. The real strength of any martial art depends on how wise you use your and your enemies movements in a battle situation and also speed and control are the key factors to fighting, don't rely too much on strength and bulk. By the way kempo means hard so you have to be more clear when speaking of kempo so the most common martial art using kempo would be kung fu so that you probably take kempo kung fu.
However, much like the Avatar, one needs to more or less include "elements" from all sources. For example, I consider all strikes as belonging to the element of Earth (and/or Metal and Tree), deflections/evasions as Wind/Air, trapping and grabbing as Water, and Fire as intercepting strikes (reach out only to be burned). Then there's the mental aspect as well...
okay for everyone out there ninjuit-su is not a fighting style it is the art of stealth. in ancient asia they were first sabatouers and spies until their art of STEALTH came so incredibly famous that they learned OTHER martial arts and used those to fight and do assaination.
Ninjitsu was never used as a style in the show because people that sneak about in the dark to murder others are beneath contempt and not even human-beings....
according to many researchers, Ninjutsu didn't exist. According to all ancient Ninja scrolls, shinobi (or ninja) trained in Martial Arts styles which already existed at the time. They didn't have their own system.
The Ninjutsu currently taught is said to be completely fake as well.
According to many experts, the current Ninjutsu has been created a few years ago, taking an old form of Jujutsu and Kobudou, while adding information taken from the Ninja scrolls. It's what they think Ninjutsu was like, it's in no way authentic.
True Ninjutsu died a long time ago. None of the Ninjutsu masters want to admit it though..
Ich wussste das Wasserbändigen ähnlichkeiten mit Tai chi hat aber das die anderen Elemente sich auch an echte Martialarts orientieren wusste ich nicht,coole Sache und danke fürs reinstellen^^
It goes beyond the 4 styles discussed here. Toph uses Southern Praying Mantis, Jet used a form for his hook swords as did Sokka for his han sword. Ty Lee might use a wu shu style but I'm not positive. Mai used throwing weapons and I can't be sure what style. It looked like some of the other Earth Benders used other animal forms for the hung gar style. I'll give the creators credit for doing it right.
Whats the one for fire and earth bending?
skydreamer11 2 months ago
@skydreamer11 Fire= Northern Shaolin
Earth= Hung Gar

Martial arts is very practical and very beautiful. Makes me proud to be Chinese, even if I'm only half and I've been Americanized.
I wouldn't mind being raised to learn martial arts, the serious kind, from a young age. Though it must be a difficult life.

Dats up to the person, and what they are more comfortable with. So its like yes and no.
blu3mage 3 years ago
@blakinsey Some would say that northern styles are better for taller people, southern styles are suited for shorter. Either way, fitness is required.

Jett's double hook swords are based on Northern Shaolim.
The Sword Techniques Sokka used are from Northern Shaolim.
Ty Lee uses the Northern Shaolim accu-point strikes which are a sub catagory of the NS seizing technique NO WU SHU.
Mai used Northern Shaolim dart technique. I know this 200% truth LOL!
