shes fucking raw ders no one lyk her. she was a crazy singer she was always high on heroin b4 her concerts but it didnt matter cus her performence was awesome.
I don't know why people keep doing the Celia Cruz vs La Lupe thing. That's like comparing Aretha Franklin to Chaka Khan (or something like that). Quite frankly I don't think the two should be compared at all. They were both absolutely amazing in their OWN right, so let's just leave it at that!
gracias por este video tan raro porque estoy re-descubriendo esta voz poderosas de mi niñez-- she was there before Celia and it wuold have great to see them together
I went to see her when she was older after she converted to Pentecostal Christian. I had no idea of her career. Although she was singing Christian songs she had a powerful voice and presentation.
This woman was one of the worlds great singers of all time. There will never be another like her. She went into the heavens with the hands of god taking her there.
Yes, Mambo started in NYC...Dah Bronx had it's big share of Salsa/Mambo giants. Bronx here, next door too Professor Torres of Willie Colon band, piano!
beatiful La Lupe! omo Oshun! you can see Oshun really coming all through her...there will never be another like her. I wish there were more information about her available in biographies and whatnot. She was amazing...
There are no comparisons to be made and no need to put someone down in order to describe La Lupe´s talent. I was a kid, growing in NYC, and saw this performance glued to the TV. She was captivating with an undescribable
charisma and presence. I have yet to see another performance with such energy. She really was the Queen of Latin Soul, adored by Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Venezuelans and everybody who was lucky enough to hear/see her. May she rest in peace!!!!
so was La Lupe, La Lupe's ancestors were enslaved by people who spoke Spanish & Rihanna's were enslaved by people who spoke English. Now if you are going by talent alone, of course Rihanna cannot be mentioned in same breath. But they are both of African descent.
Because someone else said Rihanna couldn't play the part because she was black. They are both Black! They shouldn't be the only reason she should or shouldn't. When her hair was pulled away from her face La Lupe hada rather prominent "African" forehead also!!!
So what! Dominicans and Puerto Ricans also share the same racial blend of white, aborigines and black African slaves. Salsa was born in New York. It emerged from displaced youth from these Caribbean countries (cultures). They missed their homelands. They blended the music of their ancestors, and added their own touch. In the beginning, many criticized this blend. They claimed this was not real music. But the music stood the test of time. And now it's totaly chic.
Hello friends, I am happy LA LUPE'S video has been viewed so many times. It truly is a blessing. I wanted LA LUPE'S music to be known and I think she is making a great comeback!
Please, do not add any negative comments on the comment section. I do not intend for LUPE to have a reputation as a drug user. She never did any drugs! She was eccentric and unusual but it doesn't endorse drug use. Thanks for all the positive comments and QUE VIVA LA LUPE! AHI-NA-MA
Santeria is not vodoo, Santeria it is a division of Lucumi or Yoruban religions from Africa, Spaniards brings lots of slaves to Cuba from Africa, this slaves wanted to practice their religion, but Spaniards didnt want them to practice, so they had to use the Catholic Icons , (sincretism) to practice the only believe they knew, Vodoo, is not Santeria, we have to look at this as a cultural thing. You cant judge people for their believes, Jesus say, dont judge.
Everybody in entitled to voice opinion in this blog. But there are people, who without any sense of relevance reply with stupid comments... Moron.Ignorant
When I was ten, my father prohibited her albums at our apt. in Brooklyn. Which only meant that we would sneak into someone's apt to listen huddled in a back room. She was AWESOME! If you closed your eyes while listening, she had a passion like no other. I no in my forties, and I am rediscovering her. She WAS HUGE!
LOL. In my house, whenever she would come on TV my mother would send the kids to another room. At the end of the performance, I could hear my mom saying "que horror". She was ahead of her times. She was misunderstood. RIP.
LOL!!! That's what I'm talking about!!! Love it!! My grandmother was the one saying "que horror". I think secretly my mother knew that La Lupe, with her voice, could do things to men that no other singer could do!!! Puro teatro!!!
The Greatest Singer that unlike Celia, she renounced to evil Santeria or vodoo and daied with the lord in her heart. That is when she achieved the greatness af all, when she received the Lord Jesuscrist as her saviour.
She was taken advatage of by Record Companies and Representatives who ewxplited her and got her into drugs and alcohol. But eventually she redesigned her life.
I admire her as the Greatest Fenale singer of Cuba... sorry for Celia but La LUPE was better.
This comment is for those rocky singers. In order to learn lyric interpretation you must wacth La Lupe,if you weak on intonation, listen to her, she is the best free teacher you can get. Yes, she had her habit, and she found the lord, now she is saved. When you listen to la Lupe( boleros) you feel like crying, that means she is delivering the massage.God bless all talented people.
it is very sad that good singer like her are gone every time she sing she cry and also posses by her cuadro espiritual you can tell by the way she moves

I'm around your age, slightly older. Nonetheless, I love her songs. She is so passionate, and has such a personality. Her song "My way" "Como Acostumbro" is a perfect song for her. She did it her way, and didn't care what anyone thought. She sang and made songs without falling into that stereotypical female singer category.

ESTA NEGRA FUE TREMENDA,,, y no se si era tendencia de esa epoca pero en la gran mayoria de videos ke la he visto esta sin microfono,,, seria por la potencia de su voz ???
The way she died was horrible, not to mention she died alone.....and broke. Money isn't a factor....her voice and her impact in Latin music is far beyond monetary comparison!

ESTA NEGRA FUE TREMENDA,,, y no se si era tendencia de esa epoca pero en la gran mayoria de videos ke la he visto esta sin microfono,,, seria por la potencia de su voz ???

This lady was amazing, and indeed a legend.
The way she died was horrible, not to mention she died alone.....and broke. Money isn't a factor....her voice and her impact in Latin music is far beyond monetary comparison!
