@Truck11productions - you're right, on a regular building we usually don't push the roof decking off the rafter and into the building. Our roof prop for that particular drill wasn't stapled down very well and it fell in. Regardless, we always call the interior crew and make sure they're ready for the hole to be open. Also, if we're not sure we're in the right place for the hole we will cut a small inspection hole or two to see what fire/smoke conditions are doing.
no, no, no, no, no! Why no cross cut hole? You could be in the wrong place for ventilation, and now you have just created a large hole for oxygen to pour into the structure. Another thing, try never to push the roof decking material through the roof and ceiling, there may be firefighters DIRECTLY underneath you! This is the perfect video to show everyone how NOT to do ventilation. Search for the video "Peaked Roof Ventilation" by inst5productions, that is how you vent a house!
@Truck11Productions they must have had directions from the interior crew that the location were they were cutting was the seat of the fire idiot. And u have to push the roof decking through ceiling, plus u should have radio contact with the interior crew, through radio. this is just practice obiously.
@Truck11Productions air wont "pour into the building" thru a roof hole..... hot air rises and will push out. you should have an idea of where the vent hole will be before going on the roof. even if its not perfect you will still achive ventilation... if air was going to pour into the building it would come in the front door with the engine company... go back to the fire academy!
NOW WHAT WOULD OF HAPPENED IF THE VENTILATION SAW FELL ON HES/ HER LEG ?????? THAT'S WHY U SHOULD TURN ON ALL EQUIPMENT WHEN IT'S GOING TO BE USED RIGHT THEN AND THERE.
Did anyone else catch the super awesome simotanious double thumbs up at the end there? I watched it about 4 times! Good work boys!
