The 1 thing I'm wondering is, what mechanism was used to have the rotating outter screens that was used by Niel Ward's vortex machine, but I imagine that these details may be obtained by the NSSL or Perdue University on either of the models used :)

Check out a video called "Tornado Machines And More" uploaded by ColonelAngus, you'll see that Neil Ward's model also used rotating screens on the perimeter, but they looked to be moving slowly and were on a very large turn table of some kind, but I don't know of what the mechanisms were used for that model to make it fully functional for studying more advanced swirl ratios and airflows :)
I suspect the same mechanism was used by Prof CC Chang's model, but maybe in an alternative way? :)
