Well, since LoTRO's gameplay was a total ripoff of Dark Age of Camelot (I played both, long enough to cap levels and GM in crafting) you might enjoy playing DAoC for free. The graphics aren't quite as wondrous as LoTRO but that just means it won't tax your PC when you have the graphics maxed. The server is Uthgard, Google it :)

Set up took me about 1 hour- the Uthgard forums have a great walkthrough for download and all that. DAoC works better on 1 core, so set affinity to 1 CPU when you play.

Anyone who doesn't realize that the "moustache" effect is from adding the moving mouth, well, duh, pay attention!

Anyhow, it was sorted in the next vid, Assault on Fornost.

As to Morrowindhammers comment about if LOTRO was free it would have more players. Well, yes, that's true. But the quality and free updates would not be anywhere close to what it is now. Landroval has an excellent and very, very active community. I love it there!
