To continue the argument (sorry lol) Mai does help Zuko, and Zuko helps Mai. They both have to grow up a little bit, but as the episodes progress you'll see that Zuko grows less angst-y around Mai, and Mai shows more feeling and love when she's around Zuko. Not every relationship is perfect ALL the time--the fact that Zuko and Mai argue and still stay a strong couple proves that they're great for each other. (By the way, the creators seemed to think so, too, judgiing by the finale...) =]

What Mai did was push Zuko on the right track. She didn't interrupt him, she let him whine it all out even though she messed it up with her own brand of wit as an ill-timed joke.You can't deny how clearly happy they are at the end of 305 and during 309. And that wasn't her trying to redeem herself, in Zuko's eyes she didn't even need redeeming. She just did what she did for him simply because she loves him.

And that's a bad thing she betrayed her nation for Zuko? And how do you know she wouldn't have supported Zuko's decision if he talked to her face to face. It's likely that during their talk in Boiling Rock, they came to an understanding. Also, you should not the majority of what you wrote is actually pro-Maiko, therefore anti-Zutara.

Mai betrayed her nation too you know. When she said Zuko was betraying his nation it was out of concern for him. As a matter of fact Zuko and Mai changed each other for the better. Mai shows emotion now and Mai listened to Zuko and prodded him along the road to his destiny.
