  • Every time I listen to this I come away feeling like I just had a cup of coffee with my feet up on the fireplace heart and everything is right in my world. So simple, yet so moving...just love it!

  • It's amazing the simlicity in everything he does, but so prolific.

  • I am new to Blaze's music and must say as a picker of course I am fasinated. Is "Dawg Years" a recorded collection? Would LOVE to collect as much of his material as possible. It is a shame that his young life was cut short as with many other talented artist's.

  • @roadkil2 As far as I know it was recorded informally over 2 years on a portable machine at the home of his friends Billy & Margery Bouris. There's more on fat possum.com.

  • Too good for this world.

  • great example of his voice in this one

  • oh and got away with it

  • blaze got shot because his black friends son was drinking and drugging away his fathers government checks and blaze whooped the kids ass. he came back with a shotgun and killed blaze.

  • @Treadsoftly14 it was actually a .22. I'm not trying to be a jerk, i'm just a stickler for detail.

  • so good

  • damn, I miss Austin, or at least the Austin that I used to know.

  • Such a pretty song.Just discovered it.I'm surprised it hasn't been recorded by some other artist.I would love to hear Hag or even John Prine cover it.

  • Blaze shines on

  • Blaze at his best.

  • I've had tears in my eyes the first time i heard this. Love this song.

  • @DouweHighland I agree. I think it's the combination of this hard living guy, writing and singing such beautifully observed songs that gets me.

  • @floppyd0g He wasn't afraid of being too soft or too dirty or too anything. He was one brave songwriter and person.

  • @coffeescup How did he die I mean what was he saving his friend from?

  • @richmanpoman1 a bullet

  • @floppyd0g Thanks for uploading all these again.

  • @pappymcdamnit Coming soon! Just for you.

  • Absolutely essential recording that even I the tightass dropped the coin on. Too many great songs to list just one but I'd have to say Springtime in Uganda, track 20. This'n is the prettiest tho for sure.

  • beautiful song! very nice vocals in this one too

  • I really love his pickin style. He accents every note that matters, at exactly the right timing. Very tasty sound.
