  • Saatchi is a business man with a real interest in art. Yes he loves to goto openings and have everyone scurry around but its the ones that go their own way despite the pressure to appease him that I imagine interest him. Talent is just that unless it is backed by character, resolve, intellect etc. The pessimism that exists towards anything Saatchi is involved with from some quarters smells a bit of protest/jealousy that money and exposure has come too easy. I suppose this is what I object to too

  • Even her life drawing where crap goes to one of the top uni's and she can't even draw but she's hailed as a geniyes because she wait for it .............SHE WENT TO SLAYED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    (Whole worlds gone mad!!!!!!!!!!!)

  • i new from the first moment in saw doosey git that she would win the second she said she was from Slayed, that was it !!!!!!!!! for the rest of the artist's might have well gone home.

Even though they were better than her, Slayed and Goldsmith students always up in front of the que.

What did she do again first a trolly with some pile's tied on it which keeped on falling apart, paper masha rock, whisel attached to a rail, string attached to a drill and half a tree stuck on a fence.

  • .......so the stupid bitch won then. Not from her own crappy work i'm glad to say. But from happening across a tree in a fence (that she probably walked passed anyway) probably pointed out by the cameraman or something. Or was it all staged managed me thinks?...hmmm!

  • the point of the show was to explain how disoluissioned (spelt wrong) so many young artists are. thats all. none of the students in this show were supposed to be anything special. just a example of the sorry state of art. some young artists are very talented . go look at schools like rca, chelsea, st martins, wimbledon. but unfortunatelly not these ones. 2 were from slade which is a shitty art school. ie look at the work/past shows.

  • They paint Saatchi out as someone who is an expert in art. Treat him as some kind of all knowing, EXACTLY like the do with Cowell. And he isn't, he buys art, but that Rebecca woman that "relays his opinions" spouts all this bullshit of how Saatchi thinks art should be, and they all stand there nodding. In the end it is impossibly like X-factor, it's just one man wanting to create more of what he likes. Mariah Carey/Tracy Emin. Whatever.

But i thought Matt was quite good. Very thoughtful x

  • saatchi does the same for the art world as cowell does for music........and that is.....NOTHING

  • problem is they are not creating their own work but work to please saatchi. The words "sold out" comes to mind. They should have given up ary and just gone into the big brother house if they wanted to be a celebrity.

  • @ronold56 True, but they properly did it because they wanted to sell their work and make a living out of being an artist, rather than JUST to be famous.

  • none of them were very good. cliche at the least. boring.

  • Saw the programme. The "ghost" netshops by Ben and Saad looked really good in situ. I'd have given them a green token too!

  • the only reason these spoilt 'art students' will probably sell their works and now be successful is because of the TV platform they are on. There has been the pre raphaelite movement.....the newlyn school....and now the 'undeserved class of 2009', funded by the 'Gimic Hunter'.

  • @nigeSW So the Pre-Raphaelites were no good in your opinion? Are your thoughts perhaps funded by another BBC program aired earlier in the year?

  • if i was up on that scaffold i would have thru a spanner down at that little egoistic git.

  • @nigeSW such a working class comment.

  • I take it you dont work. as for your tongue in cheek 'working class' insinuation about my background or upbringing....i'm a class of person that works. I also had a mother that studied at the Sorbonne. Oh i'm soooo common sir, excuse me sir.sorry sir!

  • This program backs up the idea that artists are complete wankers and talk bullshit. It's a great show though, but makes the 'artists' look like wankers and bullshitters.

  • @greaserleo It's interesting to see the process of unestablished artists creating work. There's always going to be elements of wank and bullshit. If there's no wank and bullshit they wouldn't be expressing/learning. If they are worthy artists the wank and bullshit is merely a stepping stone to something more credible.

  • great show

  • saatchi have a look at my puddle art at buckingham palace

  • Hastings!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! great show! :)

  • I can't work out whether or not this program is a stint to promote art? I have lost respect in Saatchi and for the BBC you've lost me on this one!

  • i dont know what to make of this show.. parts of this show make me cringe..

ive got a feeling that the winner of this show is gonna be the best one who can blag their work.

  • the entire idea of this show is cringe, its like X Factor for artists

  • omg! thats in hastings!

  • First. :D
