  • These people dance on bones of the killed Europeans

  • I bet that guy would the accordion. Could kick your hat off then before you know it your head would be next. That would sting big time.

''huuuu'' did I spell accordion right? 'The world will never know'

  • I recognize this style of dance. These are Cossacks.

  • I'm doing my morning exercises to this song. You know how hard it is to do fluid Kung Fu warm up exercises, slow steady movements and breathing with this video on? I'm strutting gliding and poppin' lol!

  • Its Accordeon, Bajan, or a big big Harmoshka :D not a sandbag :D

  • Comment removed

  • accordion indeed ! right back at cha, you capitalist pig. :)

  • Oh Fuck Yeah! Great Video! Outstanding you freak!

  • How do you say, "You just got served." in Russian?

  • I think you shouldent have edited the video and just let it match it on its own. Good song and good vid

  • nah christoperher walken

  • version no good

  • клип искажает реальный видео-материал и оскорбляет русских по духу людей!

  • @The2905Tuto Это чем же оскорбляет? думаю если бы те кто танцевал, увидели этот клип- они бы не обиделись, а просто улыбнулись)

  • love the "you can go with this, or you can go with that part" at 1:38

  • A-frecking-mazing!!! Ten of ten. This is what soldiers should do instead of going killing round. :)

  • I am completely flabbergasted.

    Unreal..in that it is real.

I wish I could do that. Maybe in heaven I can apply for Cossack status.

    Tom

  • roflmao

  • отпад )))

  • Mind-blowingly AWESOME!!!!

  • Jees, i think i've pulled something just watching this. Ger.

  • Where did this footage come from? Its amazing.

  • original is roots of breakdance in the related vid section. this soundtrack sux compared to that one.

  • AMAYHAYZING

  • Pyroz playground i agree wit u completely

    Theres our bboy spirit :D

  • Awesome! One of the things that makes me proud to be Russian. There's no way in Hell I can do that shit though. haha

  • these guys really know their shit ^^

at 4:20, that's one hell of a butterfly! what does he have in his hands? some kind of sandsack or what?

  • @Poitisan

I've been wondering the same thing ever since I first saw this video. Kinda looked like an accordion of sorts, but who knows? Some crazy commie shit :-D (j/k you Ruskies, luv ya!)

  • @ rawhead

yeah, you're right. there's another version of the vid up in colour and in that version it's clearly an accordion ^^ but i don't think he actually plays anything while jumping. that'd be too awesome oO

  • Yeah it was an accordion.

  • @rawhead909

This is an accordinon =D. In this variant it is called "Boyan" Also means old pun in modern russian.

  • @rawhead909 It's called a concertina, sort of an early version of the accordion.

  • @rawhead909

    it's an accordeon, that's true :)

И да, спасибо, мы вас тоже :)

  • @rawhead909

Its called a bayan. Use wikipedia.....

  • @rawhead909

yeah it is some sort of accordian or more like big harmonics.

  • Comment removed

  • @Poitisan That's an instrument called harmonica.

  • @Poitisan It appears to be a concertina, a type of accordion.

  • @Poitisan

    its called Bayan (russian accordion)

  • @Poitisan

    Its probably sovet flag

  • @Poitisan

    Its probably sovet flag

  • @Poitisan

    Accordion

  • @Poitisan Button accordion.

  • @Poitisan maybe it was a pillow incase he whould fall on his face

  • @Poitisan its an accordian

  • @Poitisan

    it's an accordeon.

  • @Poitisan

    It's an acordeon...not so much a sandsack...great video rawhead

  • Aren't some of Christopher Walkens moves the same as in this vid? (i noticed some in the first 30 seconds of this vid....)

  • Yeah, I think that had a lot to do with why this track came to mind after seeing the Run DMC version :-)

  • I wish I was that limber!

  • this*

  • vis version sux

  • duly noted

  • This scares me some! That shits crazy - limber as hell, anyone?

  • the guy at 3:39 looks he's springs on his legs :)

  • His legs ARE the springs! :lololol: that is some awesome moves, 4 sure.

  • lol you're right :) I tried to do one of the simple moves, but my untrained leg muscles nearly torn apart :D

  • Hey you motherfuckers, Russia has nothing to do with cossac dancing. Ukrainian cossacs that has moved to Don after Katerina destroyed Sich tought them how to dance. And you know where cossacs come from, not comuna but Ukraine! Those guys dance well anyway. Know the history!

  • Hahaha, thanks for the history lesson. Unfortunately, you're barking up the wrong tree. I don't give a fuck who invented cossac dancing. Just chill and enjoy the video ;-)

  • So this is what commies do in there spare time..... heh

  • Hey you synched that really well. great job luv it!

  • Hard to imagine anything could even come close to the original with CW.

This is a great piece of sync and editing.Great moves - any body dance off the edge? Boys figured out a great way to avoid the front lines while making new 'friends'

  • суперр

  • it would be funny if russian training was just a gay instructer teaching them how to dance

  • the guy at 4:18 has got some moves! 0.0

  • they were not officers. They were professional dancers posted to dance on the front with the troops.

  • these are traditional russian dances and nothing more

  • Many russian soldiers can dance. Oh man what a stupid idea about professional dancers which have you posted here.

  • cossack dance is part of military training in USSR. i wonder if its in the case of russian army nowadays

  • loooooool ROFLMFAO like this!

  • америка лохи так не сможет

  • hahaha .. this is crazy like it

  • ahahaha!!! very funny! Cool dancing and music fits it! nice video!

  • HAHAHA VERY NICE......

  • thats honour for the cossacks yes?

  • Yeah this song goes better with it! :D

  • just put in red army dance ensemble and watch brilliant dancing and for real russian songs kalinka by the red army choir stunning check them out

  • the editing could have been better, make look less slapped together ya know, smooth it out. but still a good vid. love the song choice

  • Thanks :-) No need to rub it in, though, cuz this was slapped together in like 2 hours while I was learning how to use the software :-) But I'm glad you agree with me that the song choice is great. That's important.

  • excellent song choice.

  • Thanks bro!

  • im in awe suberb !

  • awesome~

  • where did you get this video?? it's freaking great! are this solders, marins?

    nice editing btw

  • watch the video that this one responded too...wayy better.

  • they are USSR regular soldiers.. maybe officers.. idk...

  • this is f*cking awesome!!!

  • The Loituma one is by far better than these others.

  • the beauty of the Run DMC one is that it doesn't look edited to fit the music, whereas this one obviously is. So I reckon the other one is a bit better, even though I love this song.

  • lol this actually suits this kind of

" soviet breakdancing" more than the run dmc track. great stuff!

  • I think at 0:26 seconds, after that it is a good radio backing track (something to be played while you are speaking to the listeners).

  • hahaha

when i see that perfomence in originale i think the same - roots of breakdance

  • unfortunately at that time they had no fat boy slim. I wonder what they would have done if...

  • Haha Nice, real nice!

  • Wow, those crazy Ruskies, who'd a thunk it.

Not much chance of this Bolshie bunch skating against Team Canada. Neat footage played to perfection.

Hard to imagine but still a fine runner up to the Walken masterpiece.

    What a hoot!

    Well done - congrats.

  • awesome lol

  • That guy at 2:20 must be really, really dizzy.

  • It's good man, but I think the original version was better because it actually felt kind of real. I think if you edited the song in a way where the video could flow to the song naturally, it would have been a lot cooler.

  • Good thing we didn't decide to settle the Cold War through a dance off, or we'd SO be part of the Soviet Union right now

  • thats too true...

  • HAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!!!!

  • This is by far the best version of this vid I've seen so dar. :D

Although I still like mine better. ;)

    5 stars.

  • thanks for replying to everyones comments dude thats almost as heroic as the dancers themselves, what a marathon effort

  • Well, you're taking your time to comment; I feel it's only appropriate that I take some time to show my appreciation ;-) Thanks again!

  • SUUPPPEEEERRRRR!!!!! :))))

  • Thanks!!

  • great editing xD lmao

  • Glad to hear that!

  • Nice work, real nice.

  • Thank you sir!

  • run D.M.C version is much better

  • Thanks for the comment! Your opinion is duly noted ;-)

  • Very nice editing !

  • Thank you so!

  • I don't know what that means! Is that Russian for LMFAO?

  • so cool...

  • Thanks man!

  • Words fail me. This is great!

  • Great to hear!

  • Very tight editing, fresh approach. Might have been improved by alternating loops (ABAB, AABBAABB) instead of repeating one 4+ times (AAAABBC...). Also would have been happy to see the best clips brought back in throughout the video.

  • Thanks for the constructive suggestions! Yes, I wish I had more time to perfect this!

  • This post is brilliant!!!

  • Thanks man!

  • both vids are great .. thanks for the effort, but i still take my hat off to the soldiers.. they busted their balls for our cheap thrills, thanks guys (probably old and crusty by now) lol

  • Yeah, they're the true heros!

  • it's soo nice how u reply to everybody! i dont see that often:)

  • Oh, hi, thanks ;-) Just letting people know I appreciate them taking their time to comment on something I made.

  • This was absolutely brilliant

  • i like the run DMC one better it had less loops of the same thing

  • Thanks for the comment. The RunDMC video I don't think had any loops; it just converted the original video to black and white, and made a few cuts. I think there was a fundamental difference in our approaches. I like to chop video up and really synch video to sound. I like techno and house so a lot of looping gets involved. You can check out my other (more or less) serious work, which is the mashup of Cowboy Bebop and Negima!. Basically the same idea as my video here.

  • Great video!! 5*

But i dont like all the cuts. srry

  • Thanks for the comment. Yeah, the cuts could've been done better to give the entire thing a smoother feel.

  • Is like a meme now. Great video

  • Thanks bro.

  • The images do have to match the music; way to go! Dude that did the RunDMC version probably does not know how to dance and/or does not understand the structure of music.

  • Thanks for the comment! No disrespect to the original poster here; s/he had the great idea to begin with and I'm just copying on that idea (hence, this video being uploaded as a response to that video).

But, as you say, I personally felt that the idea would have been better executed if the dancing in the video were cut so that it would actually match the music, and that's why I created my version.

  • Shit...now I'm addicted to this.

  • Thanks! I'm happy you say that. Not to be narcissistic or anything, but I find myself watching over this video myself at least a couple time a week. Just that the dancers and this track goes along so well, you know?

Of course, looking over it so many times makes me realize how much better I could've made this if I had spent more than 2 hours on it, but alas, that's life ;-)

  • Better? How so?

  • The synchronization isn't absolutely perfect in all spots, there's one scene (the spinning round and round) where I think I extended too much and would've been better if I'd cut to another scene. You know, lots of little things that, if fixed, would've made the video even better (IMHO). ;-)

  • thas fuckin jokes man fair play im laffin ma head of cn u do nemore ?

  • prze chuje

  • It was a good try and I do like it, so don't take any offense, but the Run DMC just fits too perfectly. The repeat cuts mess with what the video is truly about.

  • Thanks for the comment! No offense taken! Personally, the repeated cuts are what actually synchronize the video with the music. While I liked the Run DMC video a lot, the movement of the soldiers are much more in sync with my video than it was with the Run DMC one. I'm not saying that necessarily makes it better, but it's more to my personal liking ;-)

  • totalmente de acuerdo contigo. Nice work!

  • Oh, shite! I was going to hit the "reply" button and accidentally hit the "remove" button! I'm sorry Meeskite!

    Thank you for your comment:

    "Meeskite:

I'm laughing pretty hard right now, not sure why. What a fun edit you made!"

It's a joy to hear the video made you laugh! thanks.

  • I think your version kicks ass! Really like it. The way they dance also reminded me of the Walken music video! Nice editing.

  • Thanks buddy. Yup, I sure had the Walken video in mind when I recut this video. Man, I mean some of the moves of these Russian soldiers are really reminiscent of that video! Actually, that's probably why I thought this particular track would go well with the video ;-)

  • no, but you just repeated the same scene for fit to the music, it's kinda, hm, useless, but anyway, if you enjoyed doing it, dont pay attention to youtube comments ,)

  • Hi, thanks for the comment.

Again, I don't mind getting negative comments at all. I did this because I enjoyed doing it (primarily), not to amuse other people, although it would be the icing on the cake if some people found it amusing as well.

What I CANNOT understand is people who would rank down the positive comments. What gives?

Also, if you think that all I did was "repeated the same scene for fit to the music" then you really don't know what went into this.

  • like that you edited it to fit with the beats... what softwear did u use? how long?

  • Hi, thanks. I used Final Cut Pro for everything. Very cool software, and great for doing things like this ;-)

  • oh yes.. i am familiar... a little. its not what I do for a living, but had to learn it coz its related to the same field

  • Great video - cut as well as the one to Run DMC's It's Like That

  • Thanks for the comment! I just realized yesterday that there's an original to this video which is in color ("Dances of the Soldiers"), and longer than the the Run DMC one! I would've used that instead of re-cutting the Run DMC one, which I guess may have made mine look even less original than it already is ;-) Oh well, if I have time to kill I might do that at some point!

  • Love it!
