Some people keep saying that the writer's should find new jobs. With that logic, we should cancel movies, plays, television, opera, and heck, just cancel all entertainment. That logic would lead to even more job losses. Do your homework. The writer's deserve to be paid for their work. The studios have caused this problem, not the writers!
As a son of a WGA member, AWESOMEEEEE. Youtube provides ample proof why this strike is so important, there's so much distribution online, if the writers lose out on this deal like they did VHS and DVD... they're screwed. Don't let the studios keep pushing around the most important but sadly under appreciated group in hollywood anymore! Go writers!!!
BRILLIANT!!!! This is ample proof WHY the writers should be getting paid for internet!!
As a non-WGA member, but writer none-the-less, I support the writer's strike. You are striking now for benefits that all furture WGA writers will benefit from. Thank you.
What you guys SHOULD do is show clips of the crappiest reality shows to show the threat they pose to the American viewing public. If I have to see "I Love New York" or "Big Brother 8," I may slit my own throat.
Deuce Bigalow? I am sad to see the writers on strike, and i do support them whole- heartedly, but how can a guy who writes Bigalow still be in the buisness?
In any other industry, if your idea became a product and you only asked for 8 cents from every $20 unit sold, your distributor would DIVE for his/her pen to get you to sign before you asked for more. Go get your well-deserved piece of the pie, WGA!!
here is what i really want to say: hey writers wake t.f.u. and start your own production companies...don't let "the man" rule you...rule the man...betch.
You have my profound sympathy. I've been on an involuntary acting and writing strike since I moved to L.A. 10 years ago... Anyone hiring? (seriously, I need a gig... :-))
The writers need to stand together if the strike goes through. Unlike back in "88 when a more than a few didn't honor their own strike efforts leading to where we are right now.
BTW- hogwartsdetention, Clive Cussler wrote the book "Sahara", but Thomas Dean Donnely, Joshua Oppenheimer, John C. Richards and James V. Hart wrote the screenplay.
Well done! I hope the strike can be avoided (I'm a camera operator), but the writers need to be properly compensated. You can have the best actors, director, sets, costumes, cinematographer and crew in the world, but if you ain't got a good story you ain't got $H1T!!
a new season of hits: ... "INKside: the Lives of WGA Strikers" - the daily grind follows 30 writers, "Pen is Mightier than the Sword" battling bureaucracy one form at a time - "Eloquent Musings" WGA on the unemployment line.
I'd give the guy in the silver shirt $20 bucks to do bad things to me,-YUMMY!
OHHHHHH- and CLIVE CUSSLER wrote SAHARA!! The best selling book that is w/ blood, violence and non stop action! The movie was like "Hello Kitty goes treasure hunting."
no, markthecrap, nothing is more hilarious than entertainment workers pulling down union wages complaining about the people who make your job possible.
There's a reason half of all screenplays produced these days are from other material. Because it is HARD! It all begins with the writer.
Did you know that the writers of animated movies you and your kids love do not get a cut of the DVD sales? Yet the Voice Actor does. Is that fair?

This video is awesome! Funyy but with a strong message - something you never see in comedy these days. I really liked the tag at the end with the fry cook: "Subtext $5". Hilarious!
I liked it, really liked this. However, just to let anyone who might be inclined to hire a SCAB, I'm here!! Ready to take up the slack (considering some television series out right now, I couldn't do worse).
Wow -- this is so creative and hilarious! From the music to the performances to the sound effect of bowling pins being taken down when the genius behind "Sweet Home Alabama" strikes out, it's all comedy gold.
Hopefully it will never get bad enough that writers need to prostitutes themselves. But I hear that if the strike does go on, the manatees are ready to pump out new scripts (we won't even know the writers were on strike.)
I hope the writers for the show Heroes will take the time off to rethink the ridiculous plots they are dreaming up. I would welcome the strike just so the Heroes writers can get their senses back.
haha
