According to her haters, Diana never acknowledges the Supremes or her time spent with them. I've seen this lady maybe 14 times live, and never has she NOT paid tribute to the ladies of the Supremes, and their songs. Her tribute here is lovely and obviously heart-felt..
how in the heck did you get the quality so friggin perfect, the pixels jump right off my computer screen. Most of you tube is extremely poor crap. this just amazes me.. How??? I have the DVD and the laser disc and this tops that.....
listening to a diana ross recording is one thing, enjoyable to say the least, but seeing her perform live at one of her concert shows is an experience that can only be described as magical
@lassley A lot of people say that. Why such a difference with the recordings though?? I've heard when she sings live you can hear the full tilt, you just can't hear it on the records or most of them anyway
Remember this vegas concert, my dad had the tape from when i was 7 years old. Anytime i listen to these songs, wish i was around in the 60's, 70's and 80's. They dont make music like those anymore. They were memorable songs.....that meant something. Not just catchy tunes.
@iloveclassicalmusic1 , I feel sorry for you kids that have to deal with auto tune these days. It's really sad. Your ears are getting "ripped off" , jinxed, whatever you wanna call it. It's like eating packaged processed food, as opposed to fresh and organic.
Very good! Her voice and energy is absolutley great here! She was at her best in the end of the 70's and early 80's. Great picture and sound quality! I wish they would put out this show on a "real" DVD!!! There is a copy with bad quality that you can buy in Europe! But the sound quality is really bad on that DVD. Please, Diana (HBO/MOTOWN)! Release this show on DVD!
You can find a great copy at Amazon, where I bought mine. It has a black cover with her name in white handwriting. It, as far as I know, has the complete concert with stage patter, etc. My uploads of this show come from that DVD.
I've commented on this post before...but i failed to mention how GREAT the Eddie Kendrick Singers sound with Diana. They are really putting it down back there!
I've seen Ms Ross in a concert in 1992 on Rio de Janeiro and never forgot the way she walked in the audience and talked to her fans. She was great then. I have this video and agree. Its on og her best perfomances ever. I'll remenber you Ms Ross, foerever and ever. By the way, loved her version of Forever Young, the Bob Dylan's song.
Another clip from THE best show she's EVER done!!Diane in 'full flight' singing as if her oxygen supply depended on how well she sings this (and with THIS show she'll NEVER 'suffocate'!!)Absolute masterful stage craft!!This really IS Diane givin it the 'treatment'!!Wonderful!!A+
This performance just makes me smile everytime I see and hear it! What do you guys think she was talking about when she said, "If I had to live my life all over, I wouldn't change a thing...OR MAYBE ONE THING?"
I've always loved this song too, another Ashford and Simpson gem for Diana... I've said it before and I'll say it again. Nick and Val took Diana's voice to the apex. The brought out its best qualities and stretch it to its limits...
In that speech you said you wanted to send your love to all the Supremes, especially Mary Wilson. Good for you baby, you've come full circle Diana and I love you for doing that! You touched my heart and made me cry when I realize you let your heart defeat bitterness. You go girl!
I've never heard it said in that way before, but I agree wholehearedly with you. She has that light brassy voice, and with the right accompaniment, that voice is lifted to stratospheric levels! There aren't very many voices that are both strong AND intimate. Diana's is.
Now this is the Diana Ross I like and respect. The "old" Diana Ross who was respectful and nice about her "real" Supremes Mary Wilson, Florence Ballard and Cindy Birdsong. Unlike the nasty Diana Ross of today who endorses the FLOS (fakes) as Supremes. Whatever happen to the "positive" Diana Ross???? I miss her!
I was just about to post the exact same comment- but you took the words right out of my mouth! I really like when she acknowledges Mary, Flo, and Cindy.
miss ross i will always remember ,you will ive on forevor, you are the true queen of pop,you have no peers.
