Anyone who agrees with capital punishment, consider this:
I come home to find my wife dead, her killer is fleeing. With seconds to act, I grab my gun and shoot. I will go to prison, though "mitigating factors" may bring the charge down to manslaughter and a 10-15 year bid. But an unconcerned party who never met me, my wife, OR the defendant can strap him to a gurney and inject poison in him (even if I object) and it's legitimate. This sends the message that we are all owned by state.
capital punishment should only be adopted if it deters murder, right? So the only way in which it can be deterred is if murderers are aware of the consequences of their crime and are deterred by said consequences. People who kill are clearly not deterred by these consequences. Conclusion: the death penalty doesn't deter murder, and therefore should not be adopted.
Murder, like capital punishment, is murder in cold blood. The people giving out and carrying out death penalties weren't affected directly by those crimes. Murder in hot, raging blood: revolution.
Just my opinion, im for capital punishment. Think about it... you have a daughter... 8 years old. Raped, murdered. And you know the guy who did it IS guilty.. would you want him alive and taking up tax dollars? Possibly released after 60 years when your own pain lasts a lifetime... I'd want that fucker deader than dead.
@NinelMish It costs more tax dollars for capital punishment than lifetime imprisonment. If you want him dead you should go and kill him yourself. We could all sympathize with you, even though it is still wrong, but the state killing people makes it even more wrong.
@NinelMish you are no better then the person who raped and murder if you want to kill them and go through with it. also it costs more for capital punishment then it does to keep them in jail. Also if they raped and murdered an 8 year old chances are they are going to get killed in prison and that they will never be let out. learn how the justice system actualy works.
@EyesOfTheSouthSTi Jesus, that comment was ages ago. Stalking the comments for something to troll about? I dont care about this argument. I posted a situation and my thoughts, thats the end of that thank you.
@NinelMish clearly I was not stalking him since the comment was the highest rated one on this video. Also if I was stalking him I would have followed him from another video to respond to a comment of his which did not do. Also I am not a troll if anyone is a troll it is you since your comment had nothing to do with the subject that was at hand.
capital punishment is unjust. its insane and there's no fair trails. The system says is against murder but they murder too. that's such a double standard
Dave Trenga was in a band with Andy Flag (Anti-Flag) called "Human Investment". They did this song too. Check out the 2nd song on the 2nd Human Investment video I uploaded.
Capital Punishment is a very confusing subject. Putting someone to death is very hypocritical, but then at the same time putting someone to death will kill them quickly. Placing them in prison for life will only kill them... slowly.
If capital punishment in the United States was to be used as an example to the people, the executions would be held publicly in a spectacle. Instead we hide our deathrow inmates and their executions away, as if we are ashamed of of the act. CAPITAL PUNISHMENT IS NOTHING MORE THAN STATE SPONSORED MURDER.
@nomansfriend I totally agree with your comment. The way I see it though, the whole penitentiary system is a punitive one that seeks some sick form of retribution against so called criminals. The question of the role of penitentiaries (capital punishment along with them) is hardly addressed, which is a shame. Are people that are sent to prison meant to "learn" something? Become rehabilitated in order to live back in society? Or merely punished and given as hard a time as possible?
i agree. i dont really have strong feelings either way. keeping someone in jail for life like charles manson or something is a cost to everyone else cuz they are paying for a guy who murdered other ppl.
but i also dont like the fact that the state feels they own death and can murder in the name of law
@adiosucks123 Murder is always going to happen. Sometimes it will be justified but most times not. Either way what we have now with the State is, as Obama said, "a monopoly on violence." The state has as much right to kill as I do, which in my opinion is no right at all except in self defense.
@adiosucks123 To quote obama. "The state is a monopoly on violence." I'm not opposed to violence against people who deserve it per se, but when you have an organization with cops on every corner saying that they alone have the right to be violent then you have a problem.
@adiosucks123 it costs more to sentence them to death then having them spend the rest of their lives in jail. that and the fact is hypocritcal makes capital punishment a joke.
@adiosucks123 and the way capital punishment works you honestly think it would be any better? they would still be there. Let em rot in jail fuck them. No easy way out let em surfer in a cell their whole life. Oh well those people there are being paid to work there and choose to if they don't want to they can get another job. Also food is easily created so that is not even logical to bring up in the debate.
@EyesOfTheSouthSTi If you read my first comment that your responded to I said I don't have strong feelings either way, I can argue both sides. Don't get all pissy.
I would say food is a very logical thing to bring up. We can't feed all the poor but will feed murderers and rapists? (We actually can feed all the poor but they are not being feed)
Also, do you think anyone can quit their job at anytime just because they want too? Most people are trapped at their jobs.
@adiosucks123 I read your first comment. No most people believe they are trapped in their jobs. I have quit a job and moved the next day 400 miles away from where I was. Got a job and a place as soon as I got down there and was approved. No the way you said it was as if they can not afford it since you said it is a cost to everyone else. No you are jumping around from your original statement. Yes we can feed the poor as well as the prisoners, but prisoners come first in the US since they are
@adiosucks123 a form of labor. We also feed car jackers, robbers, drug addicts. You can not feed one and feed the other. Not feeding them and starving them makes us no better then them. So like I suspected before you really use no logic.
@EyesOfTheSouthSTi Why are you getting all bitchy? I am not saying it's the best arguement in the world or is ethically sound, I'm just stating another veiw. Chill out this is a fucking Aus Rotten video on youtube.
@adiosucks123 I know it is another view man, but it is a flawed one that lacks logic that is all I am getting at haha. I get heated with political discussions.
Btw if I can off bitchy that was not my intention. Have a good one man.
@shananagans5 The main types of work in prison communities are maintenance activities, outdoor public works (farming, road building, reforestation), and industrial labor.
@EyesOfTheSouthSTi And those are for the inmates benefit. It cost more in extra security, transport ect than they produce. That is why we are moving away from that model. It simply cost less to pay people to do those jobs.
@shananagans5 I answered your question. Also the primary cost is the supervising deputy’s salary and the crew’s transportation. Considering what they do it is not that spendy.
It is far more costly in the US to keep a prisoner on death row than it is to simply give them a life sentence.
Besides, revenge is not justice. And capital punishment is nothing but revenge.
Our prison systems should be in place to both keep threats to society away from society and prepare them to be released back into the public. Sort of like Norway's system (which statistically, is far more successful than ours.)
@CAPSLOCKBRO I agree for the most part but capital punishment is more than revenge. What do you do with someone like say Hitler? Very big threat to society, many people would give their lives for, would most likely try to escape. Why not just put a bullet in the head and call it a day?
I'm actually all for putting those sentenced to death under the current system to public works slavery. Good things get done, and if they're not actually guilty, they can still release them. Once the poison acts, you're dead--innocent or not.
@crassordie What the state does by killing a rapist or murderer is absolve the community that individual is from from having any responsibility for their role in what happens. Instead they can just pass the issue up to a higher authority and never have to face their own complicity or take action to defend their peers themselves. This builds dependence on having someone else take out trash for you since you are convinced you are helpless and couldn't do it yourself.

yes i beleive he deserves it if he raped and murdered someone, but there are other solutions.
