  • This is really cute. My sister loves cherries so I'm gonna make her a connected pair, stuff it with cherry scented potpourri and give it to her as a rear view mirror ornament. I might actually make the cherries heart shaped. ^^ That would be so cute! I'm off!

  • In round 3 I need do make one circle with single crochet once or twice like in 2nd?

  • what am i watching

  • can you make a vid. on single and double stitches?? plz becauz i don't see the differences!!! btw very cute cherries!!!♥

  • @16angel161 tjw1963 makes incredible beginner videos with slow motion and everything! How could I possibly top that? Teresa rocks.. go check out her videos on single and double crochet right now. Seriously. You can't go wrong.

  • @WireMySoul thanks i found her channel just before you mentioned it but still thank you ♥

  • can you do this left handed??

  • @PoweredByFajitas No, I can't. Sorry.

  • Great vid, thank you so much! This will be my first project! :D

  • very cute! but it's inside out. as you go around counter clockwise, working the rounds, the side facing you is the right side. so you need to turn it so it curves up, as you go in order for it to show the best side of your work. as you crochet your rounds, you should be going clockwise around the outside edge vs counter clockwise, having to put your hook through the inside of the cherry. i also used to crochet "inside out", but my creations look much better now that i figured it out!

  • @jennabie13 Actually, it's not wrong, it's just a preference thing. I usually like to make mine inside out as well, but back when I made this video, I didn't.

  • Awesome video! This is one of the best videos I've seen for a beginner like me! Definitely going on my favorite list!

  • Hi thank you so much for your video I looooooove this one because I went looking for how to make fruits with crochet until I found yours I am an intermediate learner and I wonder if you can make tutorials on how to make different fruits :)

  • I've found that you can do a kind of reverse magic loop. You would usually need to use a yarn needle (a bit of a thick needle with a hole big enough to squeeze yarn through), cut off a long tail and weave it through the stitches and pull it tight. Then you just tie it off and, if you want to give it a slightly squished look, push the excess through the middle and out the opposite end of the cherry and tie it down to something or just some of the stitches on the other side.

  • Question how many single crotch is in the stem of the first cherry you made?

  • @horses1191999 The stem is chain-stitched, not single crochet. According to the video, I had planned to chain 8, but ended up chainging 5 and then slip stitching the last 3 stitches to the top three stitches of the other cherry, which I presume had an 8 chain stitch stem on it. Hope this helps!

  • This was so fun and looks amazing

  • 3:28 wouldn't it be rounds 3-5 if you're crocheting 3 rows of 12?

  • I have crocheted for years and just decided to start amigurumi. This was a great tutorial and perfectly explained for a beginner. Thanks!

  • i like the nedle u using where i can found it?

  • @pspruby Do you mean the yarn needle I used to sew things up? I got it at my local walmart in a package of three. Apparently, they're hard to find, so I also have them available on my artfire shop for cost plus postage (no profit to me). Search artfire for username WireMySoul.

  • Great tutorial! very clear and great speed! your voice is excellent for videos! thank you!

  • thank you for with tutorial ! I think i will try it in few days ^^

  • This is really tricky to follow when you're left handed. Still a very useful tutorial.

  • can you do this with crochett thred

  • @booboobunni I suppose technically it's possible, and would result in some pretty tiny cute things, but crocheting with thread is impossible for me due to some pretty nasty repetetive strain injury. Fine tiny work is very painful so I try to avoid it. I'd love to see some thread amigurumi though. I'll bet there's some out there. *Googles it*

  • i love it. your video make since and you go slow, its make it more understandable thanx

  • Thanks for the great video. It's really clear. The only thing I'm having a real problem with, is when trying to tighten the loop together after doing the first 6 stitches, it get's caught and won't pull through properly. I end up with it pulled together but with a big loop where the yarn wont pull through. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

  • @thezivmaster Never mind! It's fine when I use a different yarn, the other one was just catching loads.

  • @thezivmaster Oops, I didn't see this post. ^///^ Disregard my last post. :D

  • @RayneyNight haha! well thanks anyway :)

  • @thezivmaster Ah! Good to know you solved the mystery!

  • @thezivmaster What you are likely doing is just pulling the tail and not tightening up the inner loop first. Watch close when she pulls the tail, then grabs the loop the starts to tighten and then pulls that one. That will tighten up that big loop you are having trouble with, then pull the tail to tighten the other one. I hope this helps. What I did is watched closely several times before trying it myself.

  • @thezivmaster Parhaps you're pulling the wrong loop first?

  • wow!this is so cool.i only hve 12 years and i alredy did this.i love my cherry <3

  • I just want to say that I am a leftie and new to amigurumi and you just taught me how to make it in your video! I have watched so many that I can't follow and yours is just GREAT because it is done in slow motion and real time. THANKYOU!!!

  • @katerina2981 Wow! Thanks for the kind words!

  • wow thats really cool

  • Thank you !!! That was a really good tutorial ! I loved it :D

  • so if you do 2 single crochet in one stitch it gets wider. and if you do 1 single crochet in one stisch, it builds up? Im new to this xD

  • @Hitsugate That's right!

  • thank you sooo much!!

  • Hi there . . . I am making a santa claus granny square afghan and some of the squares are two colors on the diagonal and also 3/4 one color and 1/4 a different color . . . don't know if I am explaining clearly enough but if you can understand from my description, I was wondering if you had any demos for this inricate square as no matter how many times I try to follow the written directions, I get stumped . . . I am really anxious to finish this project . . . thanks

  • @shatzi03 No I don't, sorry shatzi. I'm not familiar with this square. Have you tried searching "granny square" here on YouTube? Try all the keywords you think might lead you to this square, as there are a LOT of crochet demos here on the 'Tube. You're bound to find what you need. Good luck!

  • @MeggySwimsXx The crochet hook? You can get them wherever you can buy yarn and knitting needles, usually.

  • ohmygosh you are soo lucky! i have no experience whatsoever and i want to do this reeaalllyyy bad :(

  • @MeggySwimsXx tjw1963 makes excellent videos for beginners that will teach you the basics. I highly recommend you check out her videos to learn before making amigurumi with me.

  • Thank you for your wonderful video! I wonder what needle do you have? Appears to be practical : D Where can I get?

  • @huiluflute Thank you! People ask me about those yarn needles a lot! People tell me they cannot find them where they live so I have them for sale on my Artfire shop. I don't charge any extra for my time, just what it costs me to buy and send it to you.

  • @WireMySoul

     Great! I ordered right away

  • @huiluflute Thanks! They're on their way!

  • Very quickly! :)

  • woww... thats was dont beautifully! i love it! thankyou so much for the tutorial.. (:

  • @youandimakeone Thanks for taking time to leave such a lovely comment!

  • @NumberOneSas I once thought of pink as a disturbing colour myself, but have come to accept it, in my 'old age'. XD

  • simply superb dea :) i made a cherry jus nw watching wid da viedo

    To tooo Bful

  • @kalyania16 Thanks! Glad you like it!

  • Really nice, almost good enough to eat!

  • @craftybegonia Thanks!

  • this video was a great help. but I'm trying to make a rabbit so i looked up and saw this cute rabbit called Mr Funky Bunny In A Dress. but the size is too big. I want it to be half the size so how should i do it?

  • @chibimisumi If you're not already familiar the basics of what shapes you need and how to make them the size you want, or with making your own pattern, I'd look for a smaller bunny pattern.

  • OMY GOSH I love your magic circle finger thingy..:)

  • @ALETHEIA8881 Thanks! It's not my own creation, but gosh, I can't imagine making amigurumi now without that technique! Thanks for taking time to comment.

  • Thank you for this film, now I know how to do cherry (it's easier than I thought) I hope you will make more films like this : )

  • I really Like your instructions. They are so easy to follow. Congrats!!. I have made one, not as good as yours, but I am proud that I finally made it. I have added your video to my blog. I hope you don´t mind. Please let me know, because I can always delete it. Thanks

  • @pinkgoiaba Thanks for the kind words! I don't mind at all! As long as people find them helpful, spread them around and share the love! Thanks for including me in your blog! *hug*

  • You're videos are easy to follow. :) Thank you for making them. How long have you been crocheting?

  • @Von12 I'm glad you like them! I first learned how to crochet when I was around 10 (nearly 30 years ago) but back then, crochet meant afghans, and I didn't have the attention span for a month-long project, so I didn't pick up hooks again until after I was married. I've been crocheting a lot and designing my own projects for the last few years.

  • @WireMySoul

Ah, well I only really started committing myself to it just recently. Before I had issues because the feeling and noise of the yarn rubbing on the needle bothered me for some reason. It gave me goose pumps and all that jazz. (Is that uncommon?) But I'm mostly over that now, just the occasional moment it'll bug me.

  • @Von12 I understand! Like nails on a chalkboard, right? Have you tried bamboo hooks? I've heard/read that it's quieter than metal and plastic hooks.

  • @WireMySoul

Exactly! And no I haven't...I'll have to look into it. :) Thanks for the tip!

  • thank you! ive made so many and i dont know what to do with them! xx Y

  • @xcrochetcrazyx Put them on key rings and attach them to any presents you want to give out this year! Put little faces on them and give them to kids in your life. Hang them from tree branches under the cover of darkness to secretly yarnbomb your community and bring a smile to people's faces. I've always felt that the best thing to do with amigurumi is to give it away as gifts.

  • I love this one!!! Please I need to see how to make strawberries for a scarf that I weaving right now, thank you !!

  • @Wilfridda Check out the Easter Egg video. Follow it to make your form in red, then at round 10, switch to green to finish the egg shape, and chain a few loops for leaves and stem. Don't fill it as much as the video shows. You'll see that the egg pattern works perfectly for a strawberry as well. Good luck!

  • @WireMySoul Thank you!!! I really estimate your response !!! <3<3 THANK YOU !!! ( I found you because I love cherries, and today I'll try to weave them too ) you are a genius !!

  • @Wilfridda You're welcome! <3 I'm so glad you liked it.

  • very cute Amigurumi Cherry

  • @SweetWaterPurl Thanks!

  • At the beginning when you tighten the circle and pull the string, one of the strings tighten. After that do you pull that one or the other one?

  • @pinkpolka234 Pull the loop that tightens, first. When the circle is closed up, pull the free end to draw that loose, remaining loop closed.

  • @hotdog1997 I chain two, then put 6 sc in the first chain.

  • cuuute! you did a really good job at explaining how to do each step. you make me want to make one now! really helpful!

  • @Lintered Awesome! Thanks so much!

  • Wow, I love this video. I've tried crochet before but could never get it. I gave up a long time ago, until I suddenlly wanted to try again. I was actually able to follow this video right along with little difficulty. I made a weird little multicolor cherry^^ I'm so proud of myself. Do you have a tutorial for crocheting a squirrel? Thankyou for posting such clear instructions, what a rare find^^

  • @Ram750 Thanks so much for the praise! I'm so glad you found this video helpful! I've never made a squirrel before, so no, I don't have a demonstration. I am pretty sure there are a few free patterns for squirrels available on the net, but I haven't tried any of them. Good luck and happy hooking! XD

  • @WireMySoul I've never been good at reading patterns, it's like reading music, i can play, but i couldn't tell you what the notes were. i'll look for a visual pattern, i have to watch something in order to do it.

  • @Ram750 Same here! I think that, as with most things, practice makes perfect. I found crochet abbreviations on the internet and tried to refer to them as much as possible when I was learning, and now I can read patterns pretty well, as well as write my own. And it's a lot easier than reading music, I think. hehe!

  • hii im a complete beginner :S and i was wondering when i try and stitch at the beginning the wool goes on my hook and not on the crochet bit .. i noo it sunds stupid but im really stuck here thanks if u can answer me :)

  • @Alisha2022020 Sorry, I can't imagine why it's doing what you say. Have you tried looking at other demonstrations? jtw1963 has excellent videos for beginners!

  • Thank you so much!!!! Your videos were the best by far that i found. In two hours i had begun and finished an amigurumi ball and ears after not crocheting for 7 years! I am wondering how you would crochet a beak for a duck or a nose for a pig? I think the pig nose is the one i wanna do most. I don't know if you do tutorials by request, but if you do i would love to see one or both of those! Again, thanks so much, you made it so easy and accessible to get into!

  • @q22r22 There's a free pattern for a pig on my blog and on my deviantart gallery. :D

  • Thank you!!!!! I've been trying to figure out the magic circle for weeks, and this is the first tutorial that actually taught me!

  • Well I'm glad you stuck with it! Sometimes you just need to find that perfect video that makes it click together for you, right? Thanks for taking time to comment!

  • Sweet! very simple, easy to follow, great end result! I'm gonna add some faces to these thanks so much =)

  • Awesome!! Thanks for commenting!

  • i can't follow with this, i dont know anything about crochet but i wanna learn how T^T

  • Well this video really isn't a starting point for beginners. Check out the "crochet 101" videos by tjw1963. She teaches all the beginning basics and she uses slow motion and repetition really well. I HIGHLY recommend her videos!

  • really nice and useful . Thanks Jan!!

  • You're most welcome!

  • I just attempted this through this tutorial, but I'm having trouble keeping holes out of my ball. I'm not sure whether it's because of my yarn tension or whether I'm putting the needle into the correct stitches. Any tips?

  • It could be any of a number of things. Try the following: 1. Use a hook smaller than recommended on the yarn packaging. 2. Watch your tension, you don't need to crochet really tight. 3. Consider learning how to make invisible decreases, there's a GREAT vid on YouTube by Nerdigurumi that shows this well. Good luck!

  • this is so cute! im gonna def try this later!

    thanks

  • Right on! Thanks for commenting!

  • OMG! this is SOO nice. i suck at crochet and at anything to do with crochet. but i watched this video, and i made a tiny, half-finger sized doll yesterday, [i named it WireMySoul] and im making more!

    thanks for this AMAZING video!

  • That's SO AWESOME! Got a picture to share? I'm so glad you found this useful!

  • Those cherry's are so cute! I'm gonna start on it tonight =D

  • This was the perfect tuyorial. I had never done crochet and after 5 minutes with this video I had a ball of what could become the body of my first amigurumi! thank you! happy new year x

  • Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you found this video helpful! Happy New Year!

  • great -.- 7 years of english in school. and I still can't figure out the english instructions.. what's "sc" ans "st"?

  • sc = single chain and st= stitch :)

Don't worry even English speakers get confused with the abbreviations at first.

  • Actually, in North America, sc is "single crochet". :D

  • Lol yes, I knew that, I live in America. I totally short circuited there xD I probably just really confused him xD

  • all the time i do mine , it comes out flat

  • All I can suggest is to keep trying. Check out other videos about amigurumi too, sometimes you'll catch something that will make it all make sense!

  • thanks i kept trying and i did one

  • That's awesome! Keep it up!

  • Yes! I finally know how to do it!! Thank you for posting this vid!

  • That's great! You're welcome!

  • your moving to fast i can't keep up

  • Try pausing it and writing down the instructions. Sometimes it helps to stop it and go step by step.

  • Yummy :)

  • hey how big is that cherry! and is it possible to do it smaller? plwease reply

  • It's about 1 inch diameter. You can make it smaller by using a smaller hook and smaller gauge yarn, like sock yarn or sport-weight. Good luck!

  • This is just so fun to do and you really help when you take it slow. Thanks

  • You're welcome! I'm glad to help! Thanks for commenting!

  • Excellent video for beginners like me - thank you! :)

One question: How do you finish the stem for the first cherry? You didn't really say at the end... Do you just tie a knot or something?

  • Yep! Attatch the stem yarn (green or whatever colour you're using), chain until it's the length you want, then bind it off by cutting the yarn and pulling it through the last chain loop. Pull it tight so it knots and you're done. Thanks for the kind words and taking time to comment!

  • Great tutorial! Clear and precise instructions. Thank you

  • Thank you for taking time to comment! I'm happy you enjoyed it!

  • how do u crochet into a stitch? like where do u crochet it into???

  • Slide the hook under the twp loops at the top of the stitch. There's a picture in my gallery: wiremysoul-dot-deviantart-dot-com/art/Where-the-hook-goes-134576435

  • ooo this is sooo irritating. you make it look so easy. ^-^ (not mad you you or no offence or anythng) how do you find your first stitch or whatever you were talking about in the beginning

  • Sometimes it helps to use a stitch marker when you begin a round, so you always know where the first stitch is.

  • pls help im just beginning and really confused about what you mean by single crochet into which two loops

  • Check out the beginning of my other videos, I think you're wondering about the Amigurumi Double Ring. I demo it in most of my videos.

  • thank you soooooooooooooooooooooooo much sooooooooooooooooo much for this video

  • You're welcome! Thanks for commenting!

  • Help WireMySould ! I find my stitches are too tight and this makes me go really slow. What am I doing wrong? Too much tension in the yarn?

  • Yep! Loosen your grip on the yarn a wee bit. You can have tight, close stitches without tightening your tension by using a smaller hook, but your stitches shouldn't be so tight that you can't freely move your hook in and out. Keep trying and consider making some swatches of plain single crochet with scrap yarn, to practice the smooth, even stitches you want.

  • DIY CUTIE!

  • great tutorial! :D i think i've got the way of making those amigurumis a little bit. ^^ i'm a total beginner and your tutorial is easy to understand. but sometimes your hands are working too fast ^^"

but one question: could you make a video where you explain the single rounds with the special abbreviations in amigurumi pattern? i don't understand how to read patterns :/

  • Thanks! I had trouble reading patterns myself, but if you google "how to crochet" and "crochet abbreviations" you will find several wonderful sites for beginners! That's how I learned them! Also, check out tjw1963's YouTube channel, as she teaches all the basics as well as advanced stitches really well, with slow motion action. She's the guru!

  • Oh thank you so much! you're great! :)

  • You're most welcome!

  • Great tutorial by the way, but i have a question, does the way you start the amigurumi determin the shape? i've been doing the chain two and single chian 6 in the first chain.

  • Thanks for the kind words! The increasing and decreasing determine the shape of your form. Starting with the chain works just fine, but you may have a small hole in the centre of your first round that is easily sewn shut later. The amigurumi double ring just eliminates that step for you by making a uniformly tight first round.

  • Ah, ok, I was trying this free pattern i found and its just a round shape but mine end up being more oblong than anything else. do you happen to know why? is it because of too many rows? or decreasing wrong?

  • If it's too tall (with the first round at the top) then you may have done too many rounds of just single crochet. If it's warping to one side of the round and getting longer in a diagonal or sideways direction, then you've increased too much on one side and too little on the other. Make your increases at uniform intervals (see free patterns on my blog wiremysoul-dot-blogspot-dot-com) and use stitch markers to help you count your rounds.

  • thank you! you've been great help. I'll deffinatly check out the free pattern. Thanks again!

  • So cute!!!! me encanto!!1 and the best thing is that finally i learn how to start!!!! thank you so much!!!!!!

    saludos desde Chile!!!!

    bye

  • I'm glad you like it! Thanks for commenting!

  • Really cute video.

I just recently started crocheting, so I have a random question for you.

What's the difference between a single crochet and a rib stich?

  • There are a couple of different techniques called the "rib stitch" and the difference between them and sc is that sc is a basic stitch worked in both of the loops at the top of a stitch (hook in, yarn over, draw loop through, yarn over and pull through the two loops on your hook), whereas the 'rib stitch' refers to a finished piece of crochet that's created by changing the placement of your stitches (back loop only, for example). Search "rib stitch crochet" and see how that's done.

  • Thanks for the video! Helped a lot, although I have one question. Does it matter on what size of crochet hook your using? Because, I have a 5.5mm crochet hook, and when I try it, the hook usually can't get through and gets stuck.

  • The size of hook you need depends on the gauge of yarn you're using. I use a 4.25mm or G hook most of the time with worsted weight acrylic yarn. If your hook is getting stuck, you might be trying to crochet too tight. Try to make your stitches a little looser and see if that helps.

  • Thank you so much for your wonderful tutorial video, I'm not so scare into trying crochet now...

  • Thank you so much! ^-^

I love the cherries i made and they are So CUTE!! thank you for posting this video! =]

  • You're welcome! I'm glad you like them!

  • yay i finally understand how to crochet thank you so so so so much i've been having like a crochet learning brain block for too long ur video is fantabulous whoot for amigurumi yay :)

  • YAY I'm happy to hear it! Congrats and thanks so much for commenting!

  • Hi! I really need to say: OMG, your video is wonderfull! Thankyou so much!

  • Thank you for taking time to tell me that! I'm glad you liked it!

  • OMG thank you so much for these videos! I've been wanting to do this kind of this for years now but everytime I look at a book or pattern I get intimidated and confused haha... or the other videos out there go slow for like two seconds and go expert speed with the crocheting the rest of the video. Do you have any videos where you make the legs or arms as part of the body instead of stitching it together like that brown bunny you used in the "how to make bunny or bear ears" video?

  • I'll be making a video for this kind of body soon!

  • thank you for posting these tuts. Im a beginner at this and you make it very very easy!

  • Thanks so much for saying so! Welcome to the world of crochet! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. :D

  • Wow you're really good!, Im interested on learning how to crochet, but it just seems difficult for me. You're videos are good, simple and clear, I just dont know how to start.

But aside from that, Great Job! ^_^

  • Thanks so much! I do try to make my instructions simple, but I admit my demonstrations are not aimed at true beginners just learning crochet. I highly recommend the crochet videos by Teresa (YouTube user: tjw1963), She teaches the basics very well!

  • you are now officially my amigurumi tutor! i always check out your videos, and thanks for teaching us.

btw, do we allowed to make some request? well..i wonder if you can teach us [or maybe me] how to make hello kitty amigurumi, coz i kinda wanted to give someone as a gift, thanks in advance

  • Thanks for your comment! Hello Kitty is a copyrighted character and I don't want to mess with licensed products. Sorry! The skills you learn in my videos (how to make certain shapes) are really all you need to design your own HK design. (Round balls for the head and body , 2 pointed ears, 2 arms, 2 legs, embroider the face). Give it a try!! I'll bet you can do it!

  • amazing video!!

    Thanx :)

  • Thank you!

  • thank you so much! This is such a good video!

  • Thank you!

  • -confuzzled, slightly frustruated-

When I do the first six stiches, only a little more than half of the ring is finished..help? :I
