This is NOT blues, there is NO blues in it, there's NO 12 bar in it, there's NO slide in it AND any theory which was in it certainly isn't blues theory. It did NOT sound remotely like 'the blues'. This guy may be an 'expert' in getting a music degree but then doctors need degree's but they don't always cure you do they? Now, if you want REAL blues, look for Kirk L'Orange on Youtube and particularly his tune called 'Resonator Blues'. Kirk would kick this guys ass.

@bakedsushi Did I mention soul? Anyway, asking for a definition of soul is like asking "what is brightness?" Sure, I could tell you about the power of the sun, but it would be a lot better if you just looked at it and figured it out.

To me, one of the best examples of soul is the soloing on John Mayer - Slow Dancing In A Burning Room [Live in LA]. But some think BB King just spews pure passion when he plays. Soul does not at all mean it has to be fast. Just has to be clear passion/intensity

You can debate all you want, but there are artists who have soul spilling over the top in their music, and some who just don't. It's the exact same how some artists are more technically gifted than others, even if we try to debate it.

Search "Gavin DeGraw Tracks of My Tears" and you'll see more soul than most people have in their music. Put that up against Britney Spears and you'll see what I mean
