  • haha that train is always late...used it from Albany to Boston and vice versa a few times and I think it was on time only once

  • Wow. they added a 2nd Amfleet 2 lounge and they put the Horizon cafe car at the back.

  • Excellent video all around.

  • I Love The Detector, It Sounds Like My Speak N'Spell!!!!

  • That's 40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but did I just see two lounge cars on that train?

  • Well, yes and no. While there actually are two lounge cars, the first one is one of Amtrak's new "Amtrak Lite" diners. The Heritage diners were taken off the Lake Shore and these poorly remodeleled Amfleet II Cafés are the replacements. I was on the Lake Shore this past Saturday night. The new "diners" are just awful. Also, the Horizon on the back of this train was the lounge on my train.

  • I rode the Lake Shore in June 2009 from Chicago to Schenectady NY and the Horizon was the Cafe car on the train. And the train was'nt running 2 hours late. The train is supposed to be at Schenectady NY at 1:45PM and we go in a 2:15PM. That's still late but all in all that's not to bad.

  • We all need to write letters to Amtrak complaining about the removal of the dining cars. It is ridiculous that they still charge the same amount for food and service that is now no greater than you find on an airline. The dining car is one of the reasons why people may choose to travel long distances on trains instead of flying or driving. Removing this element will only make people less likely to travel long distances by train in the future.
