Artest is an overrated defender. Brandon Roy carved him up left and right in the first round series... and Artest couldn't even come close to playing good defense against Kobe.
Artest is good at taking away the drive, but when he faces a good jump shooter (like Kobe, which obviously isn't a problem anymore) he becomes just an average defender.
And yes, I did watch the playoffs because I'm a Rockets fan. What I saw from Artest was a guy that couldn't keep up with Brandon Roy to save his life. Artest wasn't good enough to guard Kobe, so Battier had to do it.

i miss the rockets man they had artest . now the rockets are gonna be 20-62. mcgrady is suppoes to be back aftee the all star break whic is too late and yao might be done for his career well if yao heals and tmac heals then 2010-11 will be good

I believe he left because he is too much of a "waste" to LA, as we all know LA has one of the sickest bench in the league

It's not really about the money at this point. It's about playing time and developing his game. He's gonna get a lot of time with the Rockets that he won't get with the Lakers coz of Artest and Odom and then you also have Walton if that even counts.

for all the haters, there are times that moves look like traitor moves- completely to do with money, but this isn't the case here. ariza is getting a little more moneywise, but he moved to the rockets so he can get much more play time, and therefore grow into a better player. there were also rumors that he was offered more by other teams but he picked the rockets.

More playing time? Trevor didnt want to be a starter when he was with the lakers. He said he loves coming off the bench to provide that spark. He said the offer LA gave him was a slap in the face. It al have to do with money.

it's hard to respond cuz that is true and not true...yes the offer was a slap in the face, but it is ridiculous to think a pro player would 'love coming off the bench.' every player wants the chance to get better and be a star, and to do that, they have to have real play time. he'll get that in houston, a lot more so than la.
