Slicing the ball reduces spin usually meant to make it a "flat" ball which means no spin but faster acceleration so how would you curve a ball with no spin and a flat hit? By the way swinging the ball down and then up would revert the ball into a bad "cut" and the topspin your talking bout is with a outreach shot
