This song was removed from the DVD releases of the movie (15 minutes was taken out). Not sure why -- either to tighten up the main plot? The only other reason I can see is the mouth sync is way out, or non-existent; I wonder if they were not happy with the polishedness of it or something. Too bad it was not put in as an "extra".
Damn, this show really spoils to Ci Bi. lolz.. when i watch ci bi, i remember this song and it was damn funny. The emperor is sun quan, vicki is sun quan's sister and tong who is xiao ba wang became Zhou Yu? lolz... SO lame man.. hahha
Oooh! I got a question for chinese language people, maybe can someone tell me :
I was under the impression that the emperor (Chen Chang ) doesn't speak the exact language, or at least maybe not the same way as the other characters ?
I 'm completly wrong, or can you see what made me think so ?
I guess you must have watched the cantonese version, where Tony Leung and Faye Wong spoke cantonese. Zhao Wei and Chang Chen spoke in mandarin. cantonese is a form of dialects which is speaken by hongkong people, sort of their main language.
Actually Mandarin was the royal form of Chinese and was spoken in the courts and the palace. Whereas Cantonese is the more common form of Chinese and was spoken by the villagers and the peasants. At least that was what I was told by my grandfather, the son of a farmer in China.
@eponinelee i guess that cantonese is older, and i also read that some chinese dynasty poetry when read rhymes when said in cantonese but mandarin it does not.
Today's mandarin has not so much to do with the official language in the administration, it has more to do with the Beijing dialect spoken in the fifties and sixties. Cantonese is and was actually one of the smallest dialect groups inside China...merely spoken by the locals in a small triangle in the HK and Guangzhou area. I guess the biggest local dialect is sichuanese, hakka or the fujian dialects.
the song is so nice, and Zhaowei is so so so beautiful in this film. However, I don't really like this film. I dont think it's good. I saw them just because of Zhaowei, my idol!
i've seen that movie! it was such a old movie. god, i think i saw that like when i was 12 or something. the orphan boy was a woodcutter and he lived with his mom. it was actually a pretty good movie.
This flim seem to be funny, I'll look it up. This song just remind my this other movie. I don't know the name of the movie, but it was about a flower princess from heaven and she fell in love with an orphan boy on earth. She then went down to earth to be with him, but there was this frog who eat children. I don't know if you know that movie, but yeah that song just remind me of that movie.
Though I did not know the movie, your feeling about this song reminding you of another movie must be very true, because this kind of song is based on Huang Mei Xi/Diao (Huang Mei Opera/Tune). In the 1960s, HongKong has made quite a lot of movies adopting Chinese tales or classical novels and using Huang Mei Diao as the characters sang through most of the stories.
i like both singing parts n___n the first one is when they first met..

Not true. A language very close to cantonese was spoken during the Tang Dynasty. Then it evolve to Hakka and then to the Mandarin today.

@iyanla09 Was it a movie or a drama series? It sounds like an old 90's Singapore drama.
