Around level 75 enchanting is where I start to see the first ring and necklace enchants become better than the gear I can just find or buy reasonably before then. Makes more sense to restrict the "types" of items enchant-able than to enchant something with +4 mana 50 times. (when you can find +20 mana rings inside of 20 minutes of gameplay)
I use enchanting on every build, same 4 points to get two enchants, or on mages I use 8 to max out enchant strength. But I NEVER enchant ANYTHING until I'm about lvl 15-20 for some very good reasons:
1. Your enchants suck compared to common gear until about lvl 75 enchanting.
2. You do not have enough gens to get you that high, meaning you are raising your level without gaining any combat advantage.
3. If stock up gems/daggers/disenchantables until a specific level, it fixes these dev oversi
@Transformersprime217 So I'm guessing no one even watches the whole video?-CONSOLE COMMANDS, HE WAS BUILT WITH CONSOLE COMMANDS IN 10 MINUTES. For fuck sake I even said so in the second to top comment! XD
@Transformersprime217 Prtess "~" on your keyboard and you can type in codes in order to essentially cheat, its for testing and modding purposes, I used it to create a character that perfectly embodies the build I wanna talk about.
@Transformersprime217 Well if I talk about the characters I raised "legitimately", I would be talking about builds that are not 100% the same as the ones I planned out in perkbuilder. You see, when I actually PLAY the game I deviate a bit to try new things out. I'm not going to take 4 days to get another character up to 60 or boost in an hour up to 60 when I can demonstrate it just fine with a console command character. Do you not understand what this video is about?
@Xylogeist many ways, but im just giving PC gamers shit because thats what they do to Console gamers. Weird, huh? when did being a gamer come down to whether you played on a console or PC -_-
@Xylogeist I think he means because you can enter codes and shit. I personally prefer the console myself, but that's because my computer is shit and can't even run Runescape.
On a different note, Another piece of clothing you should have is the dragon priest mask Morokei; it makes your magica regenerate 100 percent faster.
I have a level 31 mage that has 100 conjuration and only 50 destruction. summoning things FTW xD
@FireSwordProductions I've had 3 xbox's banned and I still go on. Xbox calls me to it... like a passion... an adiction. I mean, its the best platform on the market IMO, though Steam is a pretty decent competetitor.
Don't you think you should have edited out the part where the dragon killed you in less than a second? The build kind of loses impressiveness at that point.
I've build a pure mage with 100 in all magic schools + completed the master level spells quests.. 100 smithing + enchanting so I'm rocking daedric armor with free conjuration and destruction
i've built a pure mage character (Alteration, destruction and restoration) with the highest rank in mage armour but i still get one shot by archers and owned by pretty much every melee based enemy...help D:
@YaCallMePreacher What weapons do you use? What spells? If the pure style doesn't work for you you might want to seek heavy armor smiting, that's a good way around the difficulties of the pure mage.
@YaCallMePreacher been a few days i created a pure mage character like you i dont know why you find it so difficult i pretty match own everything :S (lvl 22)
Nice video, although i personally love just running around and dual casting pacify on dragon priests and casting harmony to make nearly an entire level of a dungeon "friendly", but like you said its all about preferences.
i put a lot of hours into this game my mage is level 84 i got everysingle perk in the mage section i have all spells and i got i got every perk in enchanting and heavy armor and smithing i have deadric armor enchanted all boost megika speed i got about 300 time magika regeneration speed and every spell at my disposal and i am on xbox so no cheats here so yeah i am over powered
@micfey121 With a transfer cable you can transfer your Skyrim save to your computer, HEX edit/modio edit your save to have X amount of XP, or X amount of gold, etc and then reinsert your save onto you xbox harddrive. It isn't difficult.
@Zurpsy Well look who just arrived and hasn't read any of the comments or even listened to the commentary. Wonderful. Alright sporty, I'll reiterate for you. The character is wearing, umm, ONE item. He doesn't have ANYTHING on to protect himself, no weapons, no spells. I leveled him up using console commands to show the build for this video. Clearly if he was leveled properly and had armor and weapons and the dif wasn't on MASTER I could've killed the dragon, no problem. Caught up yet?
I decided to put half magicak for early stages and half life for later. I was able get -100% to conjuration and destruction spells. That super neat because it costs ZERO to cost spells.
This terrible! You need 100 smithing so you can make good armor then enchant to be Mage armor. Also conjuration is very important my Mage can just put down two storm Thralls and watch them kill everyone
@N84GOALS Uh, haha, gotta stop you there for a second... I don't know if you recall but I mentioned in the video what this mage intends to do, and that its mostly based on preference... with that said, it isn't terrible. Its a differing playing style from what you seem to be going for. I've seen two different ways I can improve THIS playing style so far. Heavy armor and smithing isn't part of that, so thanks for the input, but... no thanks :P
Dude you missed the mage armor perk in alteraton tree.since pure mages dont use armor, only robes..that perk is alfa and omega for pure mage if you want to stay alive that is. add wards from restoration to that and you have a mage with 400 armor (ebony skin),80 % resistance to Physical Damage from dragon skin spell, and if you are a breton, 55% magic resistance, + 30 % spell absorbtion from atronoch.master difficulty is easy with all that.but thats only after lvl 50 until that. fire and cover :)
@Nihilius88 Good god! You have a point there, I may just need to make a re-evaluation video for this build and make some improvements. Thanks for the tips, they are most appreciated.
@Nihilius88 At that, Bretons can get the Lord Stone (well, everyone can) to have 80% magic resistance, the Agent of Dibella gives an additional 15% (total of 95% resistance), and a small amount of enchanting -you don't even need any perks for 5%, just decent level and good soul gem- and your are 100% immune to magic. Dragon breath does nothing. Mages do nothing. It's all just pretty lights.
Dragonic Diffusion and Alteration provide physical defence.
@cpmc1 I started a breton mage and picked up the Lord stone and the Agent of Dibella benefit. Is it useless to throw one or two points into magic resistance from alteration?
@Reginolde If you want the Über Tank build, then it's required! But, if you want an effective tank, or even 'defensive', it is much less of a priority. 65% magic resistance is very noticeable! If you want offence over defence, but still surviving combat (while attacking multiple ways, such as destruction magic and two handed, for example, then maybe one or two (1 > 2) perks are a good idea. If your not big on defence, you won't really need any perks at all.
@MVD721 Eh, I dabble in daggers from time to time, but you are correct sir, pure mages are some of the hardest characters to play, it takes a lot of "quick on your feet" thinking to maneuver between the necessary spells.
Few things I would change are not taking the elemental damage enchanting perks just stick to the middle tree only, because the elemental enchantments are trash compared to others like Absorb Health or Paralyze. I would put no perks into the primary line of Destruction (For less magicka) because typically I would be using enchanted gear to make Destruction spells cost 0. Lastly, all Magicka is a terrible idea. Especially on Master. You all saw how fast the Elder Dragon raped him.
@Hissingace110 BTW, as I said, it was on master difficulty, and I wasn't using a ward, defensive magic, etc. So ofc the most powerful class of dragon at level 60 would kill me...
@Xylogeist I said "Especially on Master". You just acknowledged the very reason why all magicka is a bad idea. Especially if you paid attention to the other thing I said which was "I would be using enchanted gear to make Destruction spells cost 0." I don't blame you for not understanding really, because you used the console to make the character rather than raise it from the ground up.
@Hissingace110 Yea, its not a good representation of what this character would be like when its made with console. I have another character like this one made from the ground up at level 67, and hes actually quite good. I didn't acknowledge the character was weak, I only acknowledged that the game is difficult on master difficulty :P The character is quite good, if you how to use him.
@Xylogeist On my level 50 character who started as a warrior and was made into whatever I feel like doing using enchanting, I don't bother with ward spells. I haven't put a single point into magicka (However I do have a +50 Magicka enchantment) and I have gear to give me infinite destruction spells. Dragons don't rape me in 2 seconds on master difficulty, yet I still do just as much damage as your character using destruction. Or anything else I feel like.
@Hissingace110 They would if you had made that character with console commands and didn't have anything on but a robe. Can people please stop talking about the dragon? It doesn't represent the character at all, if this character was legitimately build it would be just as good as any other :)
what a perfect way to demonstrate the power of your build! also the power of the allmighty kill all switch. lolololol jk jk but no really, that is what editting is for brodog
all in all i realy enjoyed your video, but i diss agree with you build slightly. first when you advise to build only mana, i personaly found it more useful to build 2-1 mana-health, second i also found that wearing heavy armor optimal, due to the ability to enchant it with all the mana/spell buffs you need. it greatly adds to survival without sacking dps.
@DrEdG3xTh3xSuN Oh that would surely be a good rout to take as well. I just prefer the speed and look bonuses of cloth (since mages are known for their elegant exterior). And yea, as I mentioned (I think?) going all-magicka is risky, its just kind of awesome to have so much mana to dump on your enemy ^_^
@x8Phantomb8x That's why I play on PC, so mods can add XP bonuses for other occurrences and level even farther (255 I think is the complete max). Sorry skippy :P
@x8Phantomb8x Edit: Nvm, its 100 not 255. Im currently using this mod, since the one I'm waiting for isn't out yet (that one will give XP for finishing quests and such, but keep leveling values at their basic value).
@Xylogeist I play on PC too but what's the point of modding it so you get xp from quests and you really didnt level it legitimately if you modded to get 83 anyways, if i remember correctly, when dlcs come out they were gonna increases the level cap anyways.
@x8Phantomb8x I don't get XP from quests, as I mentioned that mod isn't out yet. That mod will reduce the amount of XP you gain from skills, add minor XP bumps for each quest based on length of time needed to complete the quest. Therefore not increasing ease of leveling (thereby making the leveling legitimate in most people's eyes), but rather simply changing the playing style, adding the ability to level infinitely. The mod I have now only changes the XP tables, thus making max 100. Questions?
@x8Phantomb8x Furthermore, unlike in Fallout they would need to add a new skill in order to raise the max level. THAT or change the XP tables, which they won't do. I doubt there will be an inc in level cap (in a way I would prefer anyways). My level isn't illegitimate, it's just worth a little less than an 83 vanilla (which isn't possible, as you kindly pointed out). Mine would be in the late 60's vanilla, which is as far as I would dare go, for sake of keeping my characters unique.
@xLURAD ? I mention in the video that I used console commands / perk builder to create a mockup character. My other two mages didn't follow this build. so I couldn't use them as example. (Plus one is only level 37 and one is 83).
