dude, can i please have your car? did you restore her yourself? plenty of room for "entertaining" a female in that back seat, lmao. very nice car man.
@gunny426plymouth I looked it up: The 1958 Plymouth Belvedere 2 dr. Sport Coupe sold 36,053 units and the cost was $2564. The top of the line Fury was the most expensive Plymouth in 1958, selling for $3057.
@THEMASKEDGUITARIST1 I think the Fury was the "muscle model" fast one... and Belvedere was the luxurious soft one... Then there were the Plaza and Savoy which were lower down models which often didnt have flashes or bumper guards. But are still awesome! Alot of the christines in the movie were Belvederes, Savoys etc... i believe the one that was in the fire chase was actually a 4 door.
NICE CAR. LOVE THE LICENSE PLATE IN THE BACK !!!!!! "58 EVIL" , BY THE WAY ,THE CAR THAT THEY BURIED AND IT GOT FLOODED WHEN THEY TOOK IT OUT , WAS PLYMOUTH BELVEDERE , RIGHT?
@THEMASKEDGUITARIST1 I am 57 years old and I remember when these cars were still on the road...... I "think" remember they came in all different colors
@THEMASKEDGUITARIST1 The top of the line Fury only came in Tan with gold trim and gold side inserts. One step down was the Belvedere, with a variety of colors and silver side inserts.
My uncle drove one of these cars. He bought a year end demo car loaded with options. Power everything, including steering, brakes, torqueflite auto, windows, clock, radio (don't remember if the antenna was power. It even had factory air conditioning. But problems too numerous to mention. Rust, premature interior wear, poorly fitting parts.
It breaks my heart how hopeless my chance of acquiring a plymouth fury is. Over a 100 grand for a mint one or restored and they are soo rare, its soo hard to find a clunker one to work as a project.
@Warrantofficer13 Seat belts weren't mandatory in American cars till 1966. I added in a set of red Tri-Five 55-57 Chevy seatbelts that fit perfectly and match perfectly for safer modern day driving.
FUCKING SHITTERS! Hey man, this is my dream car, is there any suggenstions on where the best place is, to get them? Or you can just tell me how you got you'res, please, I'd appreciate it a bunch bro
@mocus1 I believe the first song played on your video is 'At The Hop' by Danny and the Juniors, not 'Rock and Roll is Here to Stay'. I also heard a small part of 'The Wanderer' by Dion in the middle of your video.
@mocus1 How much do you think a 1944/1951 Ford 4-door Coupe (in black) with lots of rust, old/no engine, no seats, and absolutely no tires/wheels from a junkyard would cost? (and how much would it possably cost to fix it? And would fixing it be worth it?)
@JeffHendrie You could probably buy it for a $1000 but you have to put about $30k into a junker to make it worth anything. If it's not gonna be worth $30k or more when you're done, it's not worth it, unless you're just doing it for the heck of it.
how you have those old songs playing do you have old tapes or is that a cd player with the old songs on there im sure thats not the radio and how much does that car go for?
Mate its beautiful. I Had N EK Holden that would kill it but I read the book and lo ved it, so I unederstand the beauty of the car. Well done! And when they do the remake, tell them to get stuffed.
The only difference I can notice is that this one has a bench seat up front. "Christine" from the movie had individual seats, which was how Darnell died (being crushed into the steering wheel) Beautiful car though!!!
Beautiful car. But to be honest, it would scare the shit out of me to own. I'd always be worried it would start killing people. hahahaha. Seriously though, that is an amazing looking car.
Ahh at the hop! a good song i have a 58 that looks exactly like this (all original and no neons) it was toreader red and iceberg white. good colors. Brittany (from Alvin and the Chipmunks 2) freaked out when she saw my car. i dont no why ppl freak out when they see my car. except i told her its only a replica of Christine and she said "Oh okay! i wanna ride!"
so i gave her a ride. she liked the torsion bar suspension cuz it comforts her like the stock Plymouth.and she loves the car now OMG yes
Standard transmission was a 3 on the tree manual transmission. Optional was the 2 or 3 spd. Powerflite automatic pushbutton transmission, which this car has.
Pushbutton 2 speed PowerFlite Transmission folks.....there's no "Park"....you have to push "N" for neutral and apply the parking brake......by the way, the parking brake is applied to the driveshaft, not a wheel as in other cars.
@mocus1 Cool video man... I remember when I first took a little spin in my own CHristine, a rare '59 Dosoto Fireflite. She had been seriously mechanically repaired from dead, and when I put her into D, and I siad what the hell? DIdint feel a thonk or hear a change in gears even. That torqueflie was the most impressive trannt I had ever heard about and at that point (2006) seen in action.
i really love what you did with this video. i was always mystifeid by the beautiful and errie look this model had in the front. the 50's music playing really makes it perfect. i could watch vids of this car all night. a one of a kind beauty...great job Arney.
A really nice Plymouth, enjoy! i'm curious, does she have the PowerFlite or TorqueFlite tranny? Did they have a Park position on the '58s, or did that come later?
These cars also had torsion bar front suspension and an OHV V8, right?...Bill H.
nicely done..and Im in love..lol, so were those push buttons standard on that car back then or was that just an option you put in there? Im really not used to seeing a 58 Plymouth up close
@ConwingL162007 yes, the automatic transmission was pushbutton, but it's mechanical, not electronic. Each button has a cable which actuates a master cable into the transmission. Works great !
yes, it has a pushbutton automatic transmission on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. Each button moves a mechanical cable which actuates the gears in the transmission. An amazing system with no gearshifts on the column or floor.
If I had the choice between this car and a brand new Porsche, I would take the Plymouth without even thinking for 1 second. I love classic cars, especially the Fury. You are so lucky to have one in this great condition.
@lizardman152 i agree lizardman il jealous of mocus1 he has a Belvedere. i sold mine to a car club but they wanted to sell it back to me cuz of ripped seats from the owner before me. now im stuck with a Belvedere and a Commodore VT and a VW Bug all 3 registered too 2018
I love how they described Christine as a custom order, she was a one of a kind RED 4 door 58 Fury off the line, but fury's only came is 2 door ... and only came in white and beige in 58 when they were first introduced, so the only way to get a proper recreation is to take a 58 Belvedere in red, modefy the chrome trim from a fury to fit the 4 door make and transplant the engine
To make the car a Fury, you would paint it Buckskin Beige, and change the silver Belvedere side inserts to gold. And the insignia on the rear quarter would be changed to "Fury"
