  • thanks for using ccmixter dot org music in your video. we posted this on ccmixter's homepage today as a featured video. cool vid!

  • why dont they get spooked and swim off! is it because they know they are protected?

  • what song is this thats in the video? and wow nice shots of them behemoths!!

  • Really great video. I cannot believe the amount of Giant Sea Bass. I've only seen a few off Catalina Island. Seems like LA Jolla is an incredible dive spot. Thank you for posting!

  • la jolla is great, just bring any spearfishing gear into the cove, theres another cove down by birdrock that has some great spearfishing. If you shoot one of those giant black sea bass, your ass may land in jail, they are protected

  • r there sharks?? :(

  • We should do a mermaid shoot sometime!

  • thats a good congregation of black sea bass, you see that many on a regular basis in la la jolla?

  • Is it ill-tempered?

  • San Diego, California, USA. This was filmed at La Jolla Cove

  • la jolla cove is protected though

  • nice video man great job the music flows really good with it

  • I understand preservation and all that, but when a fish that big and dumb can get preyed upon aren't we working against nature? It's not gonna cure a disease, let me eat it!

  • nice video man, that looks epic!

  • wow your so lucky to have been diving with them.

  • awesome video,,,,i am very happy that they are protected they are way to cool to watch alive....would never kill one....good job

  • sick ass vid dude. I wanna go fish that area so bad now!

  • Awesome video! Ive been on 100+ dives, and have only seen a White Sea Bass twice. It must have felt great!

  • i caught one from oceanside pier once. about 25lbs. was a great fight in 15lb tackle. released of course.

  • damn they hella big....

  • yeah what he said! What is the name of the song?

  • The music is listed in the "About This Video" box.

  • anybody know the song to this video

  • Protected species,no commercial or recreational take. They were almost fished out in the 1950's due to slow a reproduction rate .

  • name of the song please

  • man if you hooked up on one of those you be pullin some weight but there protected right

  • was this a protected site or can you spearfish it?

  • That was in the Marine Protected Area at La Jolla, so no spearing there. There is hunting allowed just outside the reserve... about 30' from where this video was shot. The Black Sea Bass are protected, so you can take those, but decent hunting for white seabass and others in the summer.

  • thats pretty cool im on the east cosat everything out here is fair game with the exception of flounder for two weeks out of the year...i took a 29 incher this summer.

  • Giant sea bass can grow up to 7ft long, weigh in excess of 500lbs, and have been reliably aged to 75 years old. In the late 70's the population of giant sea bass was in serious trouble, resulting in protection from sport and commercial fishing in 1982. The meat tastes like fresh water bass and halibut.

  • Whats the song?

  • they don't look that big underwater until you see them next to the little calico bass

  • Mukemmel bir yer ve mukemmel cekimler bravo...Place is very perfectly and camera too bravo...

  • Well done....and to think these creatures can even survive with 6.5 billion humans above water.

  • CHEA!!!

  • awesome footage, its pretty sad what people do to our beautiful ocean

  • cul

  • absolutely amazing footage of the BLack sea bass and the other local fish on the reef...

nice footage of the sheeps head and calico bass too
