@faridpk22 i think what he did it this way: while layer 1-3 were selected, he click on the the background image, copy ( ctrl + c) and paste (ctrl +v). thats it.

You don't have to keep hovering back and forth what you are going to select. Your viewers are not dumb. But yet you expect to know that you have to hold down the shift key to keep adding the markee's everywhere. I think you should have instead of using complete white used a more darker shade of grey, and lower you shadows a bit as it s way to strong. About 30% would probably of looked good. Definitely beginner tutorial.

you don't necessarily need to press shift all the time, there is the option where you click the squares to be able to make multiple selections @ the top where the options palette shows, but you will have to click the other one to get back to selecting one at a time(single square)

double solid squares means multiple selection(tool tip also tells you when you hover over them).

@joshuadawson88 Make sure the shapes aren't selected, de-select them if they are, and make sure the bottom last layer, the original image layer, is highlighted, before you fill it in.
