Why Barkley just let Laimbeer shoot @1:36????? Laimbeer was always a very good outside shooter, there's no sense in letting him open... plus the fact that Laimbeer had no post moves!
The man wasn't the fastest and didn't jump the highest but he played hard and defended his team mates like no other. Although I'm a life long Knicks fan I loved Bill Laimbeer and miss watching him play!! He needs to be an NBA head coach!!!!!
He had the ability to draw just about anyone out of their game just through rough physically intimidating play. He was the true guardian of the "Jordan Rules", his rule was simple, What goes up, must come down! One of the true hard-nosed get it done any way you can players. You've got to admire a guy who won the rebounding title and couldn't jump over a piece of paper! One of my all-time favorites
and don't tell me Joakim is not skilled he's the best passing, best dribbling, and most creative center in the nba and the second best defensive center behind D. Howard.
the closest player to him right now is Joakim Noah. Both are very skilled but it's overlooked because people hate the way they effect the game. Most people hate them but their teammates and hometown fans love them.
Many people hated and talk a lot of krap about Laimbeer, but he deserves a lot of respect because even though he dished out a lot of pain, he took his in return like a real man!! And he never backed down from no player, today NBA the only thing that matters is the paychecks and egos, too many pansies!
Pat Riley once called the Celtics thugs in the 84 finals. No comparison to the Pistons of the 80's. They are the most dirtiest bunch of thugs in NBA history and a disgrace to the game.
The talent, class, and overall skill of the NBA players in the 80s and 90s were far superior. Those group of men could beat anyone before them or anyone today.
EVER successful team needs a Bill Laimbeer. Laimbeer could have shot jumpers and rebounded , never got his hands dirty and he would probably had a better statistical career, but he sacrificed the individual for the team. One of my favorite all-time players.
If he played for you, you loved him. The Bad Boys were a talented team who played together, had a dynamite back court with Isiah (the best guard ever), Joe D and the "Microwave", Laimbeer and Mahorn up front with Buddha Edwards. Then throw in Spider Salley and Dennis "the Worm" Rodman and the rest of the bench and you had a team that should have won 2 more NBA championships. RIP Chuck Daly because you were the chef that mixed all of these ingredients and made it a premier franchise.
Honestly, back then Laimbeer was considered a bastard, but compared to the thugs we got in the NBA now, he was just a worker. We need more guys like him today. Not a showboater or a damn crook, but just a physical, intense player.
haaa this ferry dance mix is so faggot, laimbeer sluggin' people to casio shit beats, ha. bill laimbeer was the fucking best! fuck all you bulls bitches, 1989 pistons would take out any team. they could do it all, score, and best defense team ever. bringing vinny the mircowave johnson off the bench, rodman, spider salley, buddah edwards!
There will never be another player like Bill, there are no more real man players in the NBA, now they Tweet or facebook trash talk, Bill gave it to you straight up in your face, call him what you want but no player will have balls like Laimbeer!
Bill ruled all, didn't take sh*t from anyone. Would love to see him set these thugs in their place now a days. Pistons need to get him as their coach ASAP. Will demand immediate respect and won't let the veterans take advantage of him like the last few Pistons coaches and can teach these new kids a ton!! Bill is the man!!!
you needed toughness back then, not just muscle, you needed to be tough to take the beatings every game, cheap shots, elbows, all types of street ball shit on the pro court, I wish it was still that way, but NBA has gone all United Nations its over, thank god that it happened for some time though
More like coward of war and classless. Loved when Da Bulls sent them packing and of course the cowards walk off without a hand shake a true sign of sportsmanship led by the small biggest coward isiah.
LOL I am a Suns fan but even I know that he was one of the great Centers to play the game.. he was one of the big reason why Detroit Pistons were back to back NBA Champs in 1989 and 1990.. Good vid.. love the song!
The NBA has no one like this anymore. Laimbeer wasn't even interesting in talking to non-Pistons in the offseason, viewing them all as "the enemy." Attitudes like that made the games just a little more intense than this bullshit hugging and hand-pounding you see teams do with each other before the games now.
HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA YOU DONT SHOW BIRD JACKING THE FUCK OUT OF LAME BREUS PUNK ASS FACE AFTER HE CLOTHLINED HIM DRIVING THE LANE!!!!!!!!!WATCH THE ENINEM BIRD TRIBUTE TO SEEE >BILL FAAGGGOTT ASS PRISON BITCH !!FUCK THAT CRACKA Nuttin but a punk .This song is ...ehhh..
as a bullss fan i hated this guy more than any piston but at the end of the day i have to admit he was a great player and above all a winner, and that's really what matters the most. who cares about class? there's nothing classy about losing.
man this guy was crazy and dirty ahh dont like to play against stupid players like him..if 25% of the player in the nba play like him nba will be sucks just like hockey....i do like his thoughness i mean he is a warrior but at the same time he was dirty and with fouls like that anyone can get injured...like dennis rodman he was smart ..so smart he should be in the hall of fame nba have to think about how such a smart brain dennis was in the nba
I don't miss him or any of the "Bad Boys" Pistons, except Dumars, the only respectable one on the team. They were flat-out dirty. Laimbeer was a goon and a crybaby. Not everything from the 80s was wonderful and he's a perfect example of that. Trust me, the 80s wasn't that great...
Without that dirty Detroit ball playing, I believe Jordan's legacy wouldn't have been complete. I love the way they kicked are asses and helped made Pippen into a better player! I would give both of my nuts to go back to this era. I cried when these punk asses handed our asses, but I cried like a little orphan kid when we finally kick their asses, nothing would ever beat that feeling, that's one of my best Bulls memories! Everything about the 80's 90's was GREAT!
I'm from Chicago and watching him kick are asses thorugh out the whole late 80's really pissed me off!! As I got older and watching the weak NBA as it is today, which by the way I haven't follow since 2003,... i really hate to say this, but I miss seeing Bill's punk ass on the court. Nothing but mad respect for this guy!!
I agree w/ ya men, ballers nowadays are bunch of pussies w/ huge paychecks, if lebron played during the bad boys and the ewing's knicks era he'll ask david stern for his pacifier each day for getting his ass owned or if they the pistons, bulls and knicks of the 80's and 90's would play today, each team would get suspended because of their hard and physical plays and will make david stern stinking rich...
Looks like I have to write this again. All you people saying he sucked and had no skills: how many players who suck make four All Star Teams? And win two championships?
@TheWholeFnWolf That would be a ridiculous claim to make. His rebounding was superb. He did not jump much but his positioning and timing was superb. He was an excellent post defender, he was smart and tough. That's enough skills. He played to win. Oh, and I think he was a complete prick.
@TheWholeFnWolf What people don't understand is that you require one or two elite skills to thrive or survive in the league. Lambeer provided defense and rebounding and he never tried anything he wasn't good at. Just ask yourself, would you rather play with him or against him? ... Exactly.
aw, the days of gooning it up are so missed. now, the league is filled with tattooed, myspace prima donnas and about four teams that need to get disbanded.
barkly never won shit ! ahhhh !! clyde the glyde didnt eaither,,,and a bunch of other high flying dunkers,,but billy stomped his way in to some gold rings !! yea billy we are so proud of you ! thank god you played in detroit brother !
Laimbeer and Mahorn were the backbone of the piston deffence/toughness Laimbeer and Mahorns role was to protect other members from the team and thats what they did. Mahorn was out of shape and looking like he was going to drop out of the leage but the pistons were genius by getting him.
He had to play dirty because if he played clean he would have never made it to the NBA. I loved when Parrish knocked him down. He should have kicked him in the face when he was down.
A great attitude and no nonsense player, any of todays nba players wouldnt last if it was in the 80's..., theyd get owned...Laimbeer is one mean player...
ahhh! does my heart good to see this video. billy lamb was the man who took mahorn under his wing and berthed era of the 'bad boys'. the two together instituted the 'no lay-up rule' striking fear in the heart of high flying slashers. the league shut them down after they pummeled jordan. jordan was the poster child of the new era and the risk of his injury was too high a cost for the nba to pay so they destroyed the bad boy era. i loved it though while we had it! detroit basketball!!
I have new respect for him. My first memory of a nba championship was detroit i was about 7 and it was about isiah and dumars i never knew how good he was
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Fuck Bill Laimbeer. Just like his name says he was LAME. He had no defense at all, all he could do was foul the hell out of folks. and then he would act out a charge when he barely got touched. Nobody afraid of this Pussy. He got his ass Whoop atleast 10 times or more.
People who was born in 1995 shouldn't talk shit about Laimbeer because what you said was all FALSE. Don't talk about the 80s like you know something because you obviously watched basketball since ooooooh let's say... 2003?
MJ got shut down in the 80's..Us here in Detroit know the truth..we started the championship for the 90's as we concluded the 80's Deeeeeeeeetroitbas-ket-ball
Im from the Detroit area... MJ still dominated but the Pistons shut everyone else down. I am a die-hard Pistons fan but be real no one could stop him... ask Joe D and he will say the same.
We killed Jordan for like 4 straight years..He got off sometime..from 1986-1990...he got shut down to the point i remember him not talking to reporters and speeding off in his Lamborghini pissed off...The bad boys went to 3 straight finals 88-90..and came up with the infamous Jordan Rules.
look at the stats Jerry..i said he got of some time.that is my original statement i cant change it..... 2 of his playoff games we held him under 25 points his career average is 30.1 and his playoff average was 36.7 that year..and during the 1990 season we held him to a season low 16 points during the regular season..he's MJ remember he's gonna get his but the pistons had their way with him sometime...whats foolish about the truth Jerry there are the stats facts..to back my statement.
you said no kidding meaning you know what im talking about which means you agree..i said we started the championship of the 90's we won in 1990..and i said we ended the championship in the 80's we won in 1989..i said we killed MJ for 4 straight years..we did..he never got pasted us in the playoffs during that time...so what the hell are you talking about i even went and got stats. 2 out of them 4 years we gave MJ career lows for defending him..you know we originated the Jordan Rules. U agreed
Sorry but devinmakesmoves is right. I was a Bulls fan back then. I hated the Detroit Pistons. The reason I hated them was cause they gave Jordan pure hell. But when Jordan stop being selfish and the Bulls played like a team they dominated the Pistons.
Why Barkley just let Laimbeer shoot @1:36????? Laimbeer was always a very good outside shooter, there's no sense in letting him open... plus the fact that Laimbeer had no post moves!

The only bigger punk than Laimbeer was Rodman.

Laimbeer and Mahorn were the backbone of the piston deffence/toughness Laimbeer and Mahorns role was to protect other members from the team and thats what they did. Mahorn was out of shape and looking like he was going to drop out of the leage but the pistons were genius by getting him.

I am from Boston, and Bill is disliked obviously. If he were a Celtic his number would've been retired as well.
He was tough!!!
localwear 2 years ago 2
He had to play dirty because if he played clean he would have never made it to the NBA. I loved when Parrish knocked him down. He should have kicked him in the face when he was down.

Even though he fouled and flopped alot, he was still a great defensive player.

Laimbeer is a serious player
A great attitude and no nonsense player, any of todays nba players wouldnt last if it was in the 80's..., theyd get owned...Laimbeer is one mean player...
neb1029 2 years ago 2
Yea.. the nba today is all about athleticism and flashy plays. no defense is played, well at least no good defense.
spagettios08 2 years ago 2
I think Denis Rodman was an even bigger punk though.

That's shutting someone down????

ahhh! does my heart good to see this video. billy lamb was the man who took mahorn under his wing and berthed era of the 'bad boys'. the two together instituted the 'no lay-up rule' striking fear in the heart of high flying slashers. the league shut them down after they pummeled jordan. jordan was the poster child of the new era and the risk of his injury was too high a cost for the nba to pay so they destroyed the bad boy era. i loved it though while we had it! detroit basketball!!

Fuck Bill Laimbeer. Just like his name says he was LAME. He had no defense at all, all he could do was foul the hell out of folks. and then he would act out a charge when he barely got touched. Nobody afraid of this Pussy. He got his ass Whoop atleast 10 times or more.
crob110 2 years ago
@crob110
People who was born in 1995 shouldn't talk shit about Laimbeer because what you said was all FALSE. Don't talk about the 80s like you know something because you obviously watched basketball since ooooooh let's say... 2003?

MJ got shut down in the 80's..Us here in Detroit know the truth..we started the championship for the 90's as we concluded the 80's Deeeeeeeeetroitbas-ket-ball
devinmakemoves 2 years ago
Im from the Detroit area... MJ still dominated but the Pistons shut everyone else down. I am a die-hard Pistons fan but be real no one could stop him... ask Joe D and he will say the same.
jerryz9983 2 years ago
We killed Jordan for like 4 straight years..He got off sometime..from 1986-1990...he got shut down to the point i remember him not talking to reporters and speeding off in his Lamborghini pissed off...The bad boys went to 3 straight finals 88-90..and came up with the infamous Jordan Rules.
devinmakemoves 2 years ago
I know what the Pistons did again I say it.... because I am a diehard Pistons fan... but from 1988-1990 we killed the Bulls... we didn't kill MJ.
jerryz9983 2 years ago
The Bulls was Micheal Jordan...#23..when the Bulls lost so did Micheal....
devinmakemoves 2 years ago
No Kidding... but now you are off topic! Read you original comment to me and you will see that you are not making any sense!
jerryz9983 2 years ago
look at the stats Jerry..i said he got of some time.that is my original statement i cant change it..... 2 of his playoff games we held him under 25 points his career average is 30.1 and his playoff average was 36.7 that year..and during the 1990 season we held him to a season low 16 points during the regular season..he's MJ remember he's gonna get his but the pistons had their way with him sometime...whats foolish about the truth Jerry there are the stats facts..to back my statement.
devinmakemoves 2 years ago
you said no kidding meaning you know what im talking about which means you agree..i said we started the championship of the 90's we won in 1990..and i said we ended the championship in the 80's we won in 1989..i said we killed MJ for 4 straight years..we did..he never got pasted us in the playoffs during that time...so what the hell are you talking about i even went and got stats. 2 out of them 4 years we gave MJ career lows for defending him..you know we originated the Jordan Rules. U agreed
devinmakemoves 2 years ago
Sorry but devinmakesmoves is right. I was a Bulls fan back then. I hated the Detroit Pistons. The reason I hated them was cause they gave Jordan pure hell. But when Jordan stop being selfish and the Bulls played like a team they dominated the Pistons.
