Thanks again! You helped introduce me to this performance/tour, that your background track is from.
I have to once again applaud your superb performance!! They say imitation is the greatest form of compliment. Your cover, I believe, demonstrates how much we all are in awe of Floyd.
@snippydude i'm not sure how close they are to be honest, but i would appreciate the settings to use as a foundation and tweak it from there... thanks man, great job btw!
Sure, no problem. Just send me your mail adress. The question about the settings working was meant in a technical sense. Whether you can load and use my settings at all. But just give it a try.
I never said that it is easy, where did you get this from? I said it is not that hard to learn, when you are able to properly play a guitar, because most of it is basically the same. And don't confuse "not that hard to learn" and "easy to become a professional" (like Gilmour is), those are totally different things.
I didn't find it very hard, to be honest. But I guess since I used a common tuning (dropped D) it is not that much to get acquainted to. You have to get the feeling for it, but if you get past the first steps, when it sounds just dreadful because you don't hit the proper notes, you can get better rather quickly.
It's the exact same steel as the Rogue EA-3 (and several others). You can get them for very cheap. I'm intrigued - I wasn't sure about the Rogue but snippy is sounding good. I may just go ahead and get one as my first lap steel...
Sorry to disappoint, but my lap steel is not the same es the Rogue or the others you mentioned. I know them as well and wanted to start with them, but then decided to start with a little higher pricetag. So I bought this guitar which is actually a licenced copy from a guitar made by a small german manufacturer. Feel free to google abm-mueller, there you'll find the original. The pickup is standard (Humbucker in singlecoil design)
I see the differences now. Sorry about the mixup. Sadly, can't seem to find much info on your guitar in America... I guess I could order one from Europe and ship it but the shipping would probably be quite a bit... Hmmmmm, maybe I'll save up for a Joe Morrell or something...
You won't get my guitar anywhere else except in Germany, because the model is a licenced copy by germanies biggest music store called thomann. They will ship to the USA for 30 Euros fixed. The guitar costs 220 Euros. Just for orientation ;)
... this is "the real guitar" for this song... Sounds like shit when you play it on a normal electirc just with a bottleneck. And obviously I have a "real" guitar...
...that's how Gilmour plays the solo, jesus christ, why are people on youtube so quick to knock other people's work?
Great job mate, near perfect from what I can tell. I'm just putting the finishing touches to an acoustic version of this song myself, it's a really nice piece to play.
great solo !!
and wonderful tone !
can i ask you the tuning of your lap steel ?
cheers !!

@faunoram Thank you very much! Since it is sufficient for the songs I play on it, I just tuned it to dropped D.
Take care!

Hey mate,
clos one - it's a PODxt. Don't know if the settings work on a 2.0, but if so I would not mind sharing at all ;) Let me know!

What about Breathe?

A bit to monotone on the steel-part for my taste. Love the song, but it's not that interesting to play ;)

What kind of Steal Lap guitar is that?
and what are you using for amplification?
tenordude14 3 years ago
The lap steel is a Harley Benton Slider II from Thomann. As an Amp I use a PodXT.
