@coolview66 When you salute in the Forces you are saluting the Crown on the headgear of the other person, and you must be wearing headgear to salute. As this is a place of worship the headgear is removed as they enter the church which means they cannot salute. They should however come to Attention and sing. You can see the Yeomen come to Attention at the start of the Nation Anthem.
@coolview66 Military protocol dictates: (1) if you are indoors and on guard duty, you wear your headgear, stand on attention and salute at appropriate moments like the playing of the national anthem. If (2), on the other hand you are indoors but not on duty--like the royals attending the wedding here--you remove your headgear and simply stand at attention without saluting, like the civilians, when the national anthem is played.

Any other British subject is expected to sing. The salute is given only whilst wearing head-dress and uniform head-dress is worn inside only by females. Exceptions can be made, such as the RAF musicians or the Yeomen of the Guard seen in this video.
The salute is also not given in church, much like no-one ever claps; no particular rule, it's just not the done thing.

I always think, whenever the Anthem plays 'how moved she must be,' to have this God given privelege of standing as the incarnate, embodiment of her Nation and her Commonwealth. Each time she hears this Anthem, she must realize the tremendous responsibility that is placed upon her shoulders and she must in some small human way be proud to be chosen for such a role at this time and in this place on Earth. This video, however, clearly shows uniformed men covered, and the Beefeaters rendering salute indoors. Maybe, then, its just a royal's thing...

@coolview66 At 0:35, you will find the guards saluting and not singing - in church. I presume the reason is rather simple: as the queen herself is present at the weddings and funerals, it is nicer to her (and in the eyes of the public) if her family wishes her a long reign. I also surmise that almost all men in uniform are on duty or performing a task, even in church. Members of the Royal family, even those with military ranks, are not and do not on those occasions.

@coolview66 When you salute in the Forces you are saluting the Crown on the headgear of the other person, and you must be wearing headgear to salute. As this is a place of worship the headgear is removed as they enter the church which means they cannot salute. They should however come to Attention and sing. You can see the Yeomen come to Attention at the start of the Nation Anthem.

@coolview66 Military protocol dictates: (1) if you are indoors and on guard duty, you wear your headgear, stand on attention and salute at appropriate moments like the playing of the national anthem. If (2), on the other hand you are indoors but not on duty--like the royals attending the wedding here--you remove your headgear and simply stand at attention without saluting, like the civilians, when the national anthem is played.

@coolview66 The British anthem calls heavenly blessing on the sovereign, queen or king, who does not sing it for that reason (as you can see in the video, Queen Elizabeth receives the anthem and does not thing). Any other British subject is expected to sing. The Duke of Edinburgh, being Consort of the United Kingdom, normally should not sing either, however he is know to do it out or personal courtesy for his wife Elizabeth II.

The salute is given only whilst wearing head-dress and uniform head-dress is worn inside only by females. Exceptions can be made, such as the RAF musicians or the Yeomen of the Guard seen in this video.
The salute is also not given in church, much like no-one ever claps; no particular rule, it's just not the done thing.
