HelloSexyMary Five stars for your rambling video.Nice radishes AND I can see your tripod!
I want to get into large format but do not have all the information I need to make an informed decision about the necessary equipment.I will need an enlarger and related accessories to avoid being raked over the coals purchasing Polaroid or Fuji instant film.I think 4x5 is the most practical choice.Maybe I'll start with a pinhole camera then upgrade to a monorail if the price is dirt cheap.
Zone is right. Do NOT tape up your holders. They have to sit flush in the camera back or the film will not be in the same position as the ground glass so your focus would be off. Also, taping them would almost certainly CAUSE light leaks since the holder probably wouldn't seat right in the camera back. Even taping just the end of the holder where the flap folds down could cause the holder to seat incorrectly causing a light leak.
You were smart to get used holders. They are definitely the best buy. They can easily be checked for light leaks. Since you are going to be developing film anyway, just put an unexposed sheet in them, let them sit in the light, and develop it. If there is a light leak it will be obvious. But if they appear to be in decent shape, they will almost certainly be fine. If you need any help, contact me. I will be glad to help.
Yes, large format photography is fun. I'm a professional large format photographer myself and it's still fun after 40 years. A bit of advice: I wouldn't tape up your holders. They probably don't have a light leak. If you put tape on the frame, the film will not be in the proper plane for precise focusing. You sure don't want to tape up the slides because they won't fit into the holder and they will ruin the felt light traps. Best.
Hey, cool video! My English teacher says 'um' heaps and our whole class spends the entire lessons counting the times she says 'um'. Anyways, I'm going to go subscribe now so keep making awesome videos!

Also, if you decide to tray process your sheet film, let me know. I have a video on that and I can post it for you.
