  • @5jkz Ashe to the internet!! When I started my journey in the cultural martial sciences(1979) There were no sites to visit because there was no google! There were no books on the subject of the Dahomey Nation. There were a few Elders who had the knowledge who I was blessed to learn from. Praise to the Universe the AFrikan combat history is out front... No people did not just walk into AFrika & take people as slaves - we were warriors first! See me only as a torchbearer! Peace!

  • We must keep the energy of these women warriors alive! Too often people refer to "amazon women" as the first female fighters. Historically the "Amazon" is in South America! How the "Greeks" got stories of "Amazon women warriors" is a confusion with me. That is a conversation for another time. I did not say that I am a descendent of the Royal Army of Dahomey etc. I pay homage to the skill & warrior spirit that has been ignored in history! Ashe

  • @empress2askari

History's Mysteries "Lost Worlds" . the last world covered is the Amazon. The slouth American Amazon male has no hair on his chest and has long hair. The very north section of the Greek 1994 Kazakhstan the northern was end of Greek territory..they found a warrior woman grave. BUT the Dahomey (Benin) was quoted in the show: We are not women we are man

    Knife between our teeth

We drive those warthogs out of their hole--MORE--

for our body is better armed than the porcupines

  • @empress2askari CONTINUED:

and if we no longer had an axe or arrow or dagger to defend us

don't we have our filed teeth ready to bite and tear

and our hard fingers stronger than iron claws"

---I don't know their source for this quote, but they hunted neighboring tribes, killed them or sold them as slaves.torture and much more..there is a lot on the Sir Richard Burton (explorer) site. He lived with them. Photos.

  • Are you saying she's from the Royal Army of Dahomey? Like Erzuli-Freda-Dahomey?

  • @brianbmf martial art is not about how strong one is or one's sex but the let spirit of the art fight you are just an instrument of the techniques and forms martial arts is about self defense thats why women are better at it and understand it more but men when you learn how to fight you use it for all the wrong reasons one for exhibitions two for street fights and to add insult to injury you use your martial skill to throw your weight around thats not martial arts or kung fu for that matter

  • dangerous. I wonder, if the speed had not been slowed what might I had missed. ;

  • Wonderful... That someone noticed why the speed was slowed.. It has everything to do with making sure that viewers see that I am "slicing and dicing" for real! lol

Also if you listen very closely before I begin you will here several of my dear Master colleagues moving their chairs a few additional feet away from me...Smile

But most of all - I really get a charge out of how my voice sounds... Some people as if it was a track that I added....LOL

  • You sounded like a lioness.

  • Asante!!! And as you can see - I truly love to roar!

    Peace

  • My humble appreciation for your generous observation! As long as the Creator gives me the breath - I will continue to share the knoweledge that was taught to me.... Be a righteous woman for herself, her man and her children then able to defend it! Smile!

  • This should be a part of all Afrikan American cultural training and taught for self defense.

  • Askari comment continued... Trust me - I do hand to hand martial sciences... I do not do "martial arts"! On the street in combat I main and kill... No self-defense just self-preservation! There is no fiercer creature than a female protecting her young. If I posted those techniques that I would use in a life or death situation - they would arrest me and cancel my account...LOL I have several videos posted with information but you will have to patiently review all of them. Peace Always

  • @empress2askari My Empress, I am glad you termed it martial sciences.

That is how one should study this knowledge, with scientific discipline.

Also that nonsense I see in some comments about men and women, who would win. Anyone would win if they have the science, speed, tactical advantage, 'socialisation to fight', or motivation.

  • @leroyflagg - Asante for your support... ! Sadly the very reason I do not make much more special time to visit my site are that one sided comments make me wonder how much of a knowledgeable life some people have been exposed to... Definitely they have not run into the right situation such as a very angry woman with a pot full of grits or that caste iron frying pan. LOL

  • @leroyflagg No anyone would not win thats a lie,a woman is not beating no man in hand to hand combat, get back to reality.

  • If this is a real martial art than I would like to see some application, Because this seems to me only yieling and wobbling. Rather a show or dance than real working techniques. Could you please put some on youtube. Thx...

  • Long before Sparta, Greece, the Vikings were the warriors of Afrika! Male and Female... Any universal timeline will indicated dates of all civilizations.. Here are a few facts you an research:

Nubia birthed archery, The Candaces/Kandakes of Ethiopia were great woman military leaders in fact one turned back Alexander, Capoeira is the grandchild of the N'golo a fighting art of Angola developed by Queen N'zinga, the Ashanit females are deadly stick fighters, the list is quite long.

  • In Sparta the women were urged to train and strengten they body so that they can bear warriors of man. They had great freedom that was unprecedent in Greece in the ancient times but they never fought in great battles.

In nomadic horse tribes the women were exelent riders and archers as well, because when their man were at war, they had to protect their family. Killing sy with a bow from long range doesnt need much power.

Female warriors were mostly doomed in close range combat.

  • @Attilahollo9 Yea that is true,in hand to hand combat with no weapons a woman is not beating a man,its not happening.

  • I read about the Dahomey Women Warriors and ther was nothing about them protecting after the men were killed, they started off as the kings body guards than he continued to fund them and grew the army and they were eventually killed off by the french.Sorry if my statement sounded mean but you can see how some women would take this as a woman being a better warrior then men thing Like this stupid goddessnetworks woman below me would. The french did say they were very brave.

  • I have two adults sons that I raised as a single parent & I insisted they study extra history. The truth is never told by those who would oppress someone. I still get asked "Is there really such thing as Afrikan martial arts" LOL I have coached & competed for 30 years in all male divisions (forms, weapons, self-defense & fighting) & accumulated over 1900 trophies. The males complain but the real MEN are the ones that are not intimidated & congratulate me for taking first place! Smile!

  • @empress2askari When you do competion for self-defense,fighting and weapons you are just performing the techniques, ther is nothing for a man to be intimidated by because a man should know in a real fight a woman is not beating him,so if she performs some techniques better let ride and congratulate her!
