This remix is simply fantastic. It expands the album track! I vividly remember when this was played at a Rio de Janeiro nightclub called ZIIG-ZAAG around 1987 (it was demolished in the early 90's). Although this wasn't a number one, it was a wild number. The drum fills at 5:00 are groovy... so are the trumpet and piano solos that follow. I wishe dance music today was somewhere near close as this.
2010 Swing Out Sister Shows in the US will be in New York city at the Highline Ballroom on April 18, In Alexandria Virginia at the Birchmere Ballroom on April 19 and in Atlanta Georgia at the Variety Playhouse on April 22..Hope to see everyone there!
I know I've heard at least 7 or 8 versions of this song. How many times can you remix a song? But I must admit, I do like the remixes I've heard and I like this one too. LOL!!
man oh man this is the bombbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! play on ....violins cellos drums all together now the horn section is impeccable
I don't approve of this grovelling message: "Universal Music Group (UMG) and has graciously allowed this wonderful track to be posted..." They should be thanking you for doing the job they're too incompetent to do, eg get the music of their artists heard.
Great mix, the best. Fantastic drum break from Martin Jackson there. Thanks!
@cedarjet707 the funny thing is you are completely right. I contacted the Montreal Jazz Festival to have them over next summer. If that succeeds, that means I did UMG' marketing job.
OK on my 50th birthday, I want a group of male strippers to surrender to me. This remix makes my groin tingle. And yes, I'm a gay male! SOS again has made the grade. An incredibly intune band that has what it takes to be remembered. Funktastic!
i used to work with corrine years ago in london before she was a singer she had just finished fashion design at the royal college of art really nice girl
Hi, Im confused. I bought the 12" when it came out. Are there 2 versions of this? The cover art looks like the one I had but is there another Mix? You seem like a fan.
You probably have an early pressing before this mix was released. I found two different 12" vinyls that used this same cover art and have the Stuff Gun Mix on them. One was a 3-track UK Phonogram 1987 release cataloged as SWING312 and the other was a 4-track Japan Mercury 1987 release cataloged as 15PP-59. I'm guessing they left the cover art as is and probably just put a sticker on the plastic wrap to show it included a different mix on it. This same cover art was used on the 7" release also.
I have a feeling Rob's also referring to yet another remix of this song that had a different bass line and a more stripped-down arrangement. I heard either WBLS or WRKS playing it when the track was a current in spring/summer 1988. Here in NY the cover art had a color pic of Martin and Andy looking somewhat toward the camera (I think) and Corinne, in her trademark bob, looking off to the side.
This is the wildest Surrender mix that I have. It would be great if Universal would issue a compilation album of the best SOS remixes that they have in their vaults. I'll bet they have some real gems locked away in there.
god I love looove LOOOOOOOOOVE this fucking song.

If they would put as much money into their marketing department as they do in their legal department, they would not need the later....
Anyway...
