  • this makes me cringe. so bad on so many levels

  • Why arent they facing the other team

  • That's more of a show than a tradition in american performance. Too fast, just for the fans, nah

  • trinity sucks now

  • What a joke...

    /watch?v=u_rotEpFtZU

  • this is at penington field

  • they are challenging the crowaed

  • First off, I went to Trinity high school and i like the Haka the way they do it and I still do. They weren't trying to do the original Haka. They wanted to put a twist on it and put bits of pieces of the original haka in their own flow. A Tongan student came up with it and it's JUST a tradition for the football team. Some of you guys say it's disrespecting the Tongans or whatever. It wasn't because there's lots of Togans that are on the football team and the Tongan parents don't have a problem

  • @pinkvines ya well the entire purpose of the haka is its a warchant to challenege the other team.. not to face the crowd and show them that you practiced a cute new dance..

  • Comment removed

  • I'm from New Zealand and I don't mind other ppl doing the Haka but if your going to do a Haka do it right these dudes dont even know what the hell there doing there pretty much spitting in NZ face and to the maori ppl who first wrote that Haka, I bet half those ppl sitting there watching it dont even where the Haka first came from

  • They have a bunch of Samolians I think.

  • this haka seems more like a spectcale/mid time show, like fair enough the team maybe made up of ppl from nz and polyneasian descent or whatever but i dunno...its just seems so westernized... its like butter chicken or sweet and sour pork, cos i know for a fact authentic home made versions of thoses dishes are nothing like the stff u get at the resturants cos that shits for western taste....jst like that haka doesnt seem anything like the nz haka

  • this must be the redneck version

  • In fairness a quick internet search does reveal that the team comes from a town with a large Tongan community, and that the practice was started by players from Tonga with the support of the Tongan community.

Admittedly they are doing the Maori version of the haka, but any accusation that it is a complete nonsense is unfair.

Also the reason that they are doing it towards the fans is that in American football there are rules about taunting opposing players, even though it spoils the effect.

  • @Gladwinner i don't kn ow why they just do the sipi tau.

  • @loz1023 hardout, i wonder what there parents have been teaching them lol my mother would be disgraced if i didnt do the sipi tau or i did the haka wrong lol (tongan/maori mother)

  • write you own fucking haka

  • @JokerzPrincezz

I find it good your school uses it as a mark of family, however if you keep performing it like this then your family is an embarrasment. Face your opponents as it IS a war dance, take your helmets off so you can look them in the eye. Get louder as you can hardly hear anything from the stands, this lacks so much in terms of how its performed. And lastly sort out how your all standing as the leader is calling. Your all hunched over looking like your trying to shit.

  • @rugbyhead2 Can't do it. School districts would not allow it. Here in american we embrace all cultures alot of players on this team are polynesian hence them being the only team in the state to do the "haka". I do think it'd be cool to face the opposing team but they would say thats bad sportsmanship here in the good ol US

  • @lriddle21 friendswood does it to, theres isnt good though. plis they only have like 2 polynesians

  • @lriddle21 I guess since America isn't used to the haka it isnt PC to do it facing the opposition, if its something like that then its fine not to, but its the little things that im saying need to be touched up on. Iv led haka's before and basicly what you guys want to do is a) take your helmets off and b) get louder. If your loud it doesnt matter as much if you dont know the words and it boosts the actions immensly. All in all if your going to do it then do it justice, otherwise just go home =P

  • Ka Mate doesn't "belong" to Maori, it belongs to Ngati Toa. Having said that it doesn't matter if you're of a different race/culture, but for fuck's sake respect it. The tengas could have made more of an effort to make sure they actually learnt the words and movements properly and didn't just try to make fucking gorilla sounds..

  • OK WILL YALL SHUT UP, look, I personally know almost every boy out on that feild for this seasons team. This is their heratige and tratition, and its become a staple for the entire district. It moved past being about just showing off a long time ago. This marks ALL trojans as a family. no matter their age or race. HEB is a closer nit school district then any on earth. Were not just students anymore, were brothers and sisters, no matter where life takes us. TROJANS FOR LIFE

  • @JokerzPrincezz you need to do some research my friend, they are tongan not maori. this is not there heritage, tradition maybe i'm not tongan so i'm not gonna say anything. yes learn about who the haka belongs to before stating facts.

  • @superbill3001 \Im stating facts that I know of my school. I know why they do this dance, I know what it means to Trinity. You dont live here, you dont go to school here. i do. So who are yall to judge? What do yall know of their heritage? Yes, there are white and black boys doing it too, so? It would be kinda stupid if only the Tongans did it while the rest of the team just stood there, wouldnt it?

  • @JokerzPrincezz ok first of all know the difference between Maori and Tongan i can cause i'm maori. this is a Maori tradition dance not Tongan war dance two different countries NZL and Tonga. i grew up in this Maori culture i know it well enough to judge. these tongan boys not the BLack and Whites they haven't grown up in the polynesian tradition(in other words they are innocent) my finger is pointing at the Tongans for not showing any respect to us Maori and for being not doing and showing

  • @superbill3001 the sipu tau. (Tonga war dance) so for us maori its ashame you guys don't learn where this wardance came from. why we use it and the meaning behind it. first off you rip it off which is sad, disrespectful. secondly gonna do a war dance atleast make up your own (to your point on i didn't grow up there you are correct thats why you make up your own haka which represent them as a team who they are etc.) i have nothing against them doing the haka but this is a total disrepect to

  • @JokerzPrincezz to my culture thats why there is somuch hate from us kiwi cause the lack of respect shown from this football team. even the tongan in NZL find this shameful cause these tongans are ripping off another heritage and not sticking to there own which is kind of sad. like i told you two different countries and heritage these tongans who taught are just either culturally confuse or just try hards. i have nothing against them doing this aslong as it is done properly and respected

  • @JokerzPrincezz FYI this clip i want you to see is a clip of a wale rugby club team facing the NZL all Blacks. this clubs has four kiwis 1 being maori 1 being white 2 either being tongan or samoan. the four kiwi done the haka to show respect to the country team. while the wales team mates stood behind and support there team mates and face the challenge from the all blacks tell me if this looks stupid? cause i see so much respect shown in this.

    watch?v=13fGHSqHTwA

  • @JokerzPrincezz my bad its irish not wales.

  • @JokerzPrincezz "its become a staple for the entire district" - It's a staple for my COUNTRY, NZ! American's always try to claim everyone else's things. It is not their heritage or tradition if they aren't descended from a Polynesian country, so you can claim that. You want to know what a real haka with passion is like? Watch the Rugby World Cup starting next week in NZ. It's in our bones, we've had in NZ since the beginning. It's not something that started a few years ago.

  • wanna see a real haka type in... all blacks vs wales..give anyone goosebumps

  • Trinity is the only school that can do the Haka! I didnt even go there but everyone knows that the Haka belongs to them. Its thier state champion trademark!

  • @JoshJ295 The Haka belongs to the Maori, fact of life.

  • gay kahukus haka is way better we actually have maoris leading it

  • Estos Yankis siempre la viven cagando ...

  • Haka is not a challenge ow tyreguysdirect - and that particular 'haka' was composed by Te Rauparaha of Ngati toa as a celebration of regaining his life over death by a lucky escape from Tainui, and @bymiemac791 its appropriate to do it at the end of the game. As far as I heard Trojans are now using a ha'a by the name of Sipi Tau. ka pai

  • @HeItiKahurangi Really so ha'a now??.....so now these idiots are disgracing my culture as well ah

  • @hawaiian96chence I enjoyed it bei - TE MANA, TE IHI ME TE WEHI o te tima i te mahinga o te haka, hei aha e hoa, i matakitaki au te ripene whakaata - i ngarue ana te whenua!! Ka mau te wehi. (Ha'a is what the media used for the Sipitau, no insult intended) Hmmmmmmm-culture?? Te Rauparaha is one of the most reknown and feared war Chief of late Maori history, so performing Ka Mate is not a disgrace but empowering, &respectful to perform with vigour, torn flesh & blood - wadya rekin?

  • Old culture of america is native, maybe do a raindance

  • @ardiesken Or A belle dance

  • haha whats with da haoles doin hakas aikunai

  • As Tongan girl born in NZ unlike them fools I know its bad to use any haka from any where in NZ if I was them I would make up my own!

  • WTF the are doing it wrong, dumb asses

  • they not even look at there opponent....fail

  • Just stumbled onto this..

New Zealand based Maori, I have no problem with another culture embracing the spirit of 'haka' but I think the things to concentrate on are NOT the arm actions and the words, but the protocol.

    A / It's a Challenge the opposition

B/ Remove helmets, make eye contact , MAN UP.

C/ Make your own challenge. Contact a Kaumatua and ask how you get a blessing and an original haka written for you.

Even some KIWIS need to learn NOT to BASTARDISE the 'Ka mate haka' ;-)

  • They are actually doing their own Tongan Haka that they made up at the school they have a Poly Club and since their is more tongans they do the tongan style

  • Why are they doing it in front of the crowd and wrong? It is supposed to be done towards your opponents, not towards a crowd to get a few pre game cheers. Idiots,

  • BADGER, BADGER, BADGER, BADGER, BADGER, BADGER, BADGER, BADGER, BADGER, BADGER, BADGER, BADGER....MUSHROOM, MUSHROOM!

  • its good seing a lil culture brought into football. the fucking nz's are closed minded people. do you think an american teenager is going to do a maori haka the same as an adult pro rugby player thats had more practice doing the haka? really! practice makes perfect

  • @carlosramos31 NZ's closed minded? The Ka Mate haka is culturally singificant to NZ/Maori so they have every right to pan anyone else who are just glamorising it for the sake of it. Also your comparison with an adult pro rugby player is weak. Kids can perform it with little practice and do much better than this team. I also saw Japanese kids perform it better with passion and heart than this team. You are the one close minded. It's good that they now have their own one that reflects them.

  • @carlosramos31 How stupid are you? Yes the All Blacks made it famous but it is a NATIONAL haka of New Zealand, performed like the national anthem. How bout I sing stars and stripes while wiping my arse with an American flag, you wouldn't be offended? Cause even with that practice would make perfect.

  • @gnarkillkicksass not alot i have a 3.4 grade average.i wouldnt be offended but really creeped out but if its whats you like to do.......

  • why are they facing away from the other team? They're supposed to be facing that team as a challenge

  • @byrniemac791 they cant its against regulations of the league

  • @byrniemac791 They aren't aloud to face the other team stupid rule, but they don't want fights to start. When all of us polys moved to TX we introduced the haka to Trinity and that year they one state so every year since they do it. It's tradition

  • @byrniemac791 The other team is eating hamburgers

  • @byrniemac791 Because they're idiots and they have no respect for the tradition of the REAL Maori Haka. They obviously know nothing of it's origins and uses and are doing it to show off to the crowd. In other words, they're American.

  • @AjRhCp haha whoah i agree with you for mostly everything, but don't lump all americans into that category

  • @byrniemac791 UIL has a taunting rule.

  • @byrniemac791 American sports have this sissy rule that you can't taunt the opposition or their fans. The Univ. Hawaii gridiron team got into trouble because they did itheir Ha'a facing their opponents. They had to do it in front of their own fans.

  • There are very strict rules for football in Texas schools. Players on the field once pre-game procedures begin must be wearing their helmets. Players are lot allowed to deliberately attempt to intimidate the other team. This is why they have on helmets. This is why they are facing the crowd. It is the way they are able to perform this Haka. Euless Trinity has a very high number of pacific islander students. And yes, some are even Maori.

  • stupid americans lol they are really idiot,a real load of jerks ! This haka is perverted, it is a pseudo-haka

  • you guys are a joke! u have no mana! u need to do it properly or not do it at all. also ur not challenging the crowd are u? man up face the other team!! you only ever do it to ur supporters at the end to show respect. tisk tisk

  • @MrTrondog ummmmmm dude their the bast high school football team in texas....... (texas is the kings of football) soooo.... tisk tisk

  • what... the.... f**k is this rubbish?

  • fuck trinity. there ranked in the top ten cause there in texas bullshit we'll kick their ass

  • this is fuckin disgraceful!!

  • You do the haka in front of the opposing team, not the crowd

  • played them in 08 we beat them on tv... go black panthers

  • i wish one of these guys would read this shit, and find yall and whoop yalls fucking asses. shut the hell up, cause im sure you cant do it any better.

  • yeah i wish one of the guys would read this and find you stupid fucks and whoop yalls asses, stop hating. im sure you cant do it at all.

  • yeah i wish one of the guys would read this and find you stupid fucks and whoop yalls asses, stop hating. im sure you cant do it at all.

  • Lol, show's their ignorance, they are facing the crowd, should face your opponent, to lay down the challenge.....another Hollywood production... /sigh

  • to fast man

  • do it right, bitches!

  • Ignorance makes for an amusing show. I'd like to thank Euless for the laugh.

  • look up bingham miner's haka! they are so much better!

  • Let's just overlook the fact that the Maori are from New Zeland, not Tonga. The Tongans of Euless are playing everybody for fools by pretending that the Haka is somehow a Tongan tradition. Oh well....

  • Half of them probably don't know what the hell they're chanting.

  • THese guys suck ass!!!

  • id legit shit my pants if we had to play these dudes...

  • black fucking niggas learn what your saying and the meaning of a haka before you attempt it faggots!

  • GOD BLESS TEXAS!!

  • holy shit. and look at the other teams stands

  • fukin copycat!! nz is the best and the founder of haka!! not USI i mean USA

  • After watching this, I feel the need to join Alqaeda and cleanse the world of Americans.

  • forgot to ask, who are they doing the haka to? who are they challenging? i can only see photographers in front of them...korrrr com'on again shame on you for challenging the photographers to a game...

  • you americans are faggots, dont try and be like new zealanders

  • lol.first of all if you are going to do something from new zealand then it needs to be done right or its classed as disrespectfull.its like New Zealnders singing your national anthim with cowboy hats and cow boy boots. thats where the New Zealand guys are coming from.

As for the New Zealnd guys hating flip camon man you gota give them props for trying I was watching the Trojans doing the tongan version and the white guys do a pretty mean PUKANA.(extension of the toungue)

    SO KEEP IT UP GUYS.

  • What is truely ridiculous are the thousands of NZ's that are attacking a High School football team for trying to pay thier respects to the poly culture. Shame on them?! Shame on you.

  • @Muzicdominator Well it is a rip-off to the NZ/Maori culture so yes this team is truely ridiculous for performing it in the FIRST place. The fact you say that they are being respectful to the 'poly culture' when in fact they are glamourising it for their own benefit when the haka has nothing to do with them. They are actually disrespecting the haka. A lot of Maori's/kiwis were outraged when this was in the media. Look at it with a Maori's point of view before you call us NZers ridiculous.

  • @Muzicdominator shame on the person who taught them this haka, obiviously they werent taught correctly. The haka is a very serious war dance, must be done properly..you watch the NZ high school boys on youtube do the haka, they maybe small in size but i bet your boys will be intimidated straight away because we know when done we vare going into battle with all we got

  • lol #45 is a second behind everyone else lol. still amazing i wish are school did that

  • LOL I can't believe they actually performed that haka for awhile haha what a joke. Good to know they got a new one.

  • @jandalguy At least you realize they have started their own dance. A lot of people are more igorant and hard headed but not much less abusive. Just know that these are all only kids trying to show respect for their polynesian culture. And because of that respect Ka Mate was performed for a couple of years. But it was also because of that respect that the new dance, a variation of "sipi tau" was made specifically for them in tongan.

  • Although there's a lot of big, scary guys doing the haka ( not to mention doing it wrong ), it still doesn't give me the chills like the way the kiwis ( NZ rugby league team ) do it. Guys if you're gonna do something, do it right.

  • Hawaiians...stop copying the haka....if u dnt have one...

coz wen u do it...thea's no reaspect !!!!

  • 2many samoans at trinity high.. CHOOHOOOO.

  • WTF... im not being a hater cos it;s nice to see that people no what new zealand is all about but if your going to do the haka please do some research and do it properly...

  • Stop being pussies and go play rugby, and while you're at it learn how to do the haka properly.

  • get the Haka right, is all i can say.

  • The only thing they are doing is bastardising the haka. This aint a haka. It is more like a caveman chant. " HuHU" wtf!!! Its as if some one has watched a video of some one doin a haka and has tried to copy it. If you are going to do the haka learn from a maori like BYU did. We dont mind u doing it to thank your fans for supporting or psych urselves up. But do it right!! If u cant then do a Tongan or Samoan dance. You look like you have Tongans in there.

  • the fact they have their gear on is a little insulting to all Polynesian cultures. I see they move quite a lot which could be of Samoan, or Tongan origin, the words are obviously Maori, and the pace has to be Samoan. this just makes these boys look confused? i quite like this. there is so many of them. Just the gear is annoying! and they kinda look like they are doing a hip hop dance? . hmm . . *i've totally posted up on here!! sorry guys!!'

  • People commenting here criticizing this team's usage of the haka dance should inform themselves first. Although haka did orginate with the Maori, it was adopted by many Polynesian cultures including Tongans. Many Tongans have immigrated to this area of Texas and many of this team's members are Tongan and this dance began to be performed by them and caught on with the rest of the team.

  • @sparklingcider Each Polynesian Island, has their own version of Haka. @Mitch450000 says, these boys are somoan? -Samoans-, have their own version, it's just weird that they choose to use a MAORI version, then their own!

  • What's wrong with everyone....they're kids! Kids see things everywhere in these information highway days we live in. They see it...think it's INCREDIBLY COOL...and do it. No disrespect to ANY culture intended....They're KIDS....They wouldn't even do it if they didn't think what your ancestors created wasn't EXTREMELY AWESOME! Sitting back in your chair and sounding off how you think it's ALL Americans that are disrespecting a proud NZ or Polynesian war dance is completely ignorant. THEY'RE KIDS!

  • @Wrcoach2 dont pay any attention to the "apperently" people from NZ talking shit cuz for one if anyone looks it up the hakka is done many ways so there really is no exact way to do it. and for u idiot NZ "Maori" who dont know much about ur own culture the hakka isnt only a war dance thanks to ur pathedic sport of rugby and ur all blacks people now have a misconception of what the hakka is, so go look it up first and listen to this one about in the end these are just Kids

  • Their ignorance is what got my attention. Lumping an entire nation into something College, High School & Youth Football kids are doing, ONLY because of what they've seen, looks & sounds INCREDIBLE when you do it TOGETHER as a TEAM. They have no intention of making any culture feel bad about what they've just learned, whether they did it the right way or tweaked it a bit to fit their sport. Coaching for 20 years, I LOVE it! It builds team UNITY! And we coaches LOVE a team that's UNITED AS ONE!

  • @Wrcoach2 Just a little heads up. The trinity Trojans have many players of Tongan decent. These players started doing it before games without the team because of their maori roots and it just caught on amongst the team members. Thats why they do it, not because they saw the All Blacks do it or w/e. Now, they are the most feared team in Texas and the nation. And these guys are monsters Trust me... ive played them... scary shit

  • @m1garrand How are they Tongan with Maori Roots? . If they had Maori roots, they would use a haka that originates from their Iwi. Not a well know National Haka, and If they're Tongan, why didn't they do a Tongan version?! .

  • @kingpincmk123 HAVE YOU PLAYED RUGBY? Its a tough sport, as the "players" take Tackles WITHOUT gear on! . . I agree, the haka has been adapted "way too much" over the years, most people do have that misconception of what a haka is, it was orginally a WAR CRY. "not DANCE!! grr" . . Done many many many different ways. as each TRIBE has their own way of doing it! I am a Maori performer, i know how "this particular" haka is done. and ahh, why do you have two K's when you write HAKKA?! . .

  • @PynkcezZ i type like shit when on you tube or forums forgive me if its not for school or work i just really dont give a shit. and yes i have played rugby and even now i dont understand evrything about it and if we picked up a game now i probably would be a little lost but its just i love contact sports. all i know if i get to hit ppl so any sport where u get to do that its all good by my book.

  • @kingpincmk123 Yes yes, Me too!! I blame the keypad, for mooving? LOL!! If you have played rugby before you should KNOW it ain't a "pathetic" sport? . . Rugby is an International Sport, and the All blacks are ranked 2nd in the WORLD. believe me, it's far from pathetic!! I love sport as a whole too. I would never call any sport Pathetic. . But the amount of gear that is worn in gridiron is "pathetic" . . well in comparison to rugby. . Don't get me wrong, I like to watch the odd game of gridz! =)

  • @PynkcezZ i can see how someone who plays and loves rugby can see where its pathedic to where pads but believe me its not. i played football enough to know its needed in our sport. Not saying rugby isnt tough cuz it is. and they do hit hard but a rugby hit is different from a football hit. Once again not saying they dont hit hard in rugby but its a different game. even though at times u can say some hits dont require pad but most do in todays game. either way both fun to play and watch

  • Bunch of retarded american niggroids trying to do the Haka , fools

  • @FamouSMaori there not american reject there somoan

  • @FamouSMaori If you're a REAL Maaori, You would NOT disrespect the Americans of African decent. When the Americans had segregation and all that racism there, we here in Aotearoa were going through the same things. To call them Niggroids, is to call yourself that! . And if you're a White Maaori, like myself, it's even MORE disrespectful.

  • @PynkcezZ , We need to bring the Brown Maori back, lol.

The idea of a White Maori is awfully grim.

  • @insanelylogical . . Excuse me I am not Grim? LOL!! Yeah, nah, if only we could bring back the "brown Maori" . Not many of them around anymore, unless they're cross bred? Hawhi-Kahi? . . LMFAO! * I think that's just a made up word?

  • @PynkcezZ , :) I know you can't help being a "white Maori"

you were just born that way. But just so you know, I'm part Maori myself.

An American Maori/Latino mix, believe it or not, lol.

But it disturbs me that now, some people think ALL Maori must look like Shame Cameron, or Russell Crowe. Maori should be brown! it's what makes a Maori!

I just don't want us to be edged out anymore than it already is.

    Cheers :)

  • @insanelylogical mate do you live in new zealand? or do you live abroad.... if you do live in nz i feel sorry for you cos those people must be pretty narrow minded... anyway who cares your latino...lol by the way im maori and im very brown.lol

  • @Ch0d3n1 , Well thanks for writing that bro, I feel much better now knowing that there are still brown Maori around, lmao.

And no, I don't live in NZ. I'm what you call an american Maori/Latino.

People do seem to care though,as I'm very uncommon.

You're very brown and I'm very tan, lol.

  • @Ch0d3n1 Kiwi's are far from narrow minded! thank you very much!! Though I consider myself a maori, more then a Kiwi. because the wider world has defined this twisted image of what a"kiwi Person" looks like, and sounds like! :( and i don;t fit that twisted image!! *thankfully* I'm proud to be a Maori, and be from New Zealand!!

  • this better be the #1 ranked HS football team in the state.....with all that "Mana", if not, they should be banned from trying to learn how to do the Haka with poor execution. Who are you fooling? a bunch of white people who couldn't tell the difference if you guys did it properly or not....From a PROUD POLYNESIAN!!!! Samoa Mo Samoa!!!! stick to "patty cake"!!!

  • this is done totally wrong , it is meant to intimidate the opposite players. not the freaking crowd. losers taking over a tradition and doing it wrong,

  • your ment to face the other team you americans copy alot of things but never do them right

  • @MegaEnglandsnumber1 If they were allowed to face the other team while performing the haka, I'm sure they would. Blame HS football rules, not the team themselves.

  • @ladydontekno You have no idea why we are angry at you disrespectful americans , use try to copy the maori culture by doing a freakish shit version of the HAKA. let me explain what the HAKA is my friend its a war dance that we give to our enemys befor they die. our ancestors where doing it facing the enemy its not for entertainment so all you american sluts can stfu & learn to do it right or dont at all for a start its funny americans trying to speak a foreign language !

  • @FamouSMaori Way to miss my point. In Amercan HS sports, teams are not allowed to confront the opposing team *at all* before a game. Not even a friendly handshake. So that means the haka has to be performed for the audience and not for the other team.

I also find it ironic that you are calling Americans disrespectful while using a racist slur against Black Americans. To get respect, my friend, you have to give it.

  • @krissywuvzchocol8 rightly said mate ... these guys look like fools

  • @krissywuvzchocol8 dont forget samoa

  • Kemoeatu Camp 2010 - Kahuku Haka. gotta see this!

  • u fckn idiots wat the fck was that ,this really fckz me off seeing sum mutha fcka doing da haka wrong u faggots r making us maori look stupid u fckn idiots die u bastards die!!!!

  • why are they facing the crowd? totally missed the point of a haka!

  • these guys suck at the haka.... proper moari;s do it better

  • football players aren't made for the haka

  • It's great that you're exploring Polynesian culture, especially in Texas! But true to American form, you're picking and choosing the cultural bits that you like like numbers off of a Chinese food menu.

The Haka, Cibi, SiviTau, and Sipa Tau are not sideshow acts to be seen in some Disney parade... or some hip dance moves. If you want to represent Polynesia & Melanesia, then you should probably learn more about its origins and people (and teach the rednecks). It's a golden opportunity.

  • minkia

  • So... they are players AND cheerleaders at the same time ??

  • These guys are actually embarrassing. I mean that stupid clown leading it should be shot in the face. He is destroying something amazing with his stupid interpretation of it. WTF seriously. and the crowd you rednecks deserve the same fate. Being so led into some bullshit americanised crap.

  • Fucking Fags trying to do the haka but do know how to do it properly! Typical americans, come down under & watch the All Blacks, NZ Maori & All Polynesian Rugby Teams do it!! Then run straight at us without all your protective gear & feel what a real bone crushing tackle is. Fags wearing pads & helmets!!! Idiots like this that dis respect the haka!!

  • @jamesgpaku fuck u man dont hate on us! we came from tonga, samoa, and everywhere else. we know wat the hell were doin!!! were the rawest high school football team in texas! you want some? bring yo bitch ass team here and get fucked up!!!

  • @HeckaGay6795 I don't usually get into these types of things but first of all this is a maori haka not tongan or samoan so NO you don't know what your doing!! Come to New Zealand and learn the history & be taught by the maori people than and only than wil you a non maori have the right to do say you know what your doing in regards to the haka!!

  • @HeckaGay6795 EXACTLY YOUR FROM TONGA AND SAMOA SO YOU SHOULD FUCKING KNOW THIS IS A HAKA FROM THE MAORI IWI IN NEW ZEALAND. this isnt a bloody haka for anyone from the south pacific to just take and claim.

  • @HeckaGay6795 Dude...Fag

  • Euless your clueless, learn how to do the Haka properly.

  • @jamesgpaku

It's a fuckin' HIGH SCHOOL, dude....

  • sheesh, I would never have guessed that this vid would have gotten so many people pissed off....Like anything in the world, no matter how sacred and traditional, has got to grow and evolve, lest it be lost forever. You cannot stop change. I am a white American without a lick of Polynesian blood, and I am inspired by the haka so deeply that I want to jump up and do it whenever I see it...does that make ME a blasphemer?

  • @thesharkchick despite the respect I have for the Maori culture, they don't have the sole ownership of human spirituality. So this team kinda butchers the haka...so what? Have you ever heard kindergartners sing for their parents? Yeah, they're no Celine Dions, but we don't boo them off the stage! WE ENCOURAGE THEM TO EXPAND THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF IT! I was touched at the fact that Americans finally decided to acknowledge someone else's culture other than their own! DON'T HATE! EDUCATE!

  • 2. Over the years, the Euless lads have been scrutinized for their rendition of the “Ka Mate” haka, firstly because of the poor performance, and secondly, over “rights” to the war-dance. As such, in 2009, they choreographed the “Euless Haka”, and danced this battle-cry all the way to winning the national championship. Chivalry is why they did the “Ka Mate”, and the Americans appreciated it. Pity, our own people did not.

  • 1. Euless Trinity High School has been a national powerhouse in American high school football for years now, mainly due to the contribution of Polynesians (Tongans). I am hoping you all can fathom the magnitude of such an achievement. These young men in selecting an identity of their heritage, chose NOT to hoist a symbol of their island nation, but an established icon of their race (Polynesian), such as the “Ka Mate” haka of the Maori (Ngati Toa Iwi).

  • 4. "Haka" is a Polynesian word that translates to "dance". Before battle, our (Polynesian, including the Maori) warriors, did the "haka-tau", or "war-dance" for reasons now well documented. These "haka/s" had infinite [sic !] versions, including the Euless Haka above. Tonga renamed their national "haka-tau", to "sipi-tau", after the Fijian "cibi", their war challenge, showcasing our proud close affiliation with our Fijian brothers in war, friendship, and other cultural exchanges.

  • wow they actually wore there helmets and pads.. that's just embarrassing and ignorant real Maori warriors never wore Armour of any kind, and they were actually fighting with Taiaha and Patu not just playing a game. The Maori All Blacks will sometimes take there shirts off in homage to this.

Imitation is that highest form of flatter but when it comes to culture its just insulting.

  • lame!
