Yeah, I listen these clips years after years. I've to say that Mercury was one of best singer, even I'm not the biggest Queen fan. It was a great loss.
hell yeah Robert Plant beast!!!!! who ever thinks less of him where are u in life well lets see u r not the one that is paying tribute so ya stuff it!! :P

years after..people are still bitching about this????? wow. it was done and sang with heart and soul and out of respect. nothing else matters. great music history
queen and led are together with black sabbath some of the best bands ever, and their music is so complex, so perfect there's no room to discuss who's better. freddie and plant were monsters.
I love Robert but this performance was so bad... He didn't know what the song said and his voice is so diferent to sing this song, I really don't like this..
i just can't understand why some people compare Freddie's voice to Robert's voice...All Queen members were very big Led Zep fans !!!! On that performance, Robert is not in the rythm sometimes and different explanations can be found ( technical and so on ). He's doing very good ! And he visibly had a lot of admiration for Freddie. That's all ! And Jimmy has a lot of admeiration for Brian too !!
Headlong, another great rock song, Don't try so hard and Ride the Wild Wind, Queen style pop-rock, All Gods People, an anthem between rock and opera (it was written for the Barcelona album),These are the days of our lives, another great ballad, Delilah, Freddie's style, Hitman, powerful rock song, Bijou, the perfect fusion between Freddie's voice and Brian's guitar and the Show must go on which is a sum up of all the record's concept! So, it's quite natural that Innuendo fits Robert Plant so well!
Well, I really don't understand why quite all comments are about a fight between Queen and Led Zeppelin...Roger Taylor has always been a big fan of Zeppelin's, so Freddie and Brian. They started off being inspired by them but then Queen took a different path in making music. The fact is that the Innuendo album is intended to be a sum up of all Queen's career, infact on that record there is: Innuendo, 70s style, the Bohemian Rhapsody of the 90s!I'm going slightly Mad, typical Queen song! continue
I feel it noteworthy that Robert Plant got four bars ahead of where he should be, and the rest of the band realised what he had done, corrected it, and anyone who didn't know Innuendo intimately would never have known of the mistake!! It's a shame they left this off the DVD, at Robert Plant's request, because this was a pretty decent rendition of one of Queen's greatest songs.
a very intense discussion going on here... but ONE thing is clear to me... here with Plant singing this, we can finally hear how much of an influence Zeppelin really has had on guitarists and songwriting in general... because this sounds like a Zep- track more than anything else! those long chords (also present in the studio version of the song) and the howling melodies! what really bums me out are those cheezy circus keyboards around 4:00
I love his vocal on this tribute..wonderful interpratation of the vocal gritty strained but absolutly fabulous Robert .xx RIP Freddie always there never forgotten x
There was a time when he could have done a tol'rably good job... but Freddie was still around then to take care of the singing himself. You hear snatches of it here. This is kinda sad to hear, knowing that.
Man!!! This is amazing, Plant is one of the best. You cant compare to freddie, you mustn`t. We know that the lyrics are wrong but, its ROBERT PLANT! the performance its brillant.
@bruzuppone maybe you need to see a doctor, cause I actually believe there is a serious problem with your ears. When you return from that visit, you will here ROBERT PLANT screaming wrong words en distroying a great song, but sings his own song at the end in the right and good way. Maybe he forgot that this was a Freddie tribute, not a Led Zeppelin promo tour.
@driekesMfo I dont think i have to. I invite you to listen the song, im a musician too, i guess i know something about it. I talked about the performance, you didnt, listen carefully and then give an opinion. Im 200% queen Fan, but you need to get out from there for a minute. After this if you think the same way maybe YOU should try study some music...
Dont care what anyone says......This is the only time the band have played this live to a crowd as big as this and Mr Plant... YOU RUINED IT by A)forgetting the words B)Not being in time with music and C)not being so powerful as our friend Freddie
Anyone that can diss Robert on this, is deaf, and ignorant! This is sublime. Robert Plant isn't known and loved as one of the best rock singers ever! Please show education and taste, this is phenominal!
@ShieldMaidenBLS I am not doubting Plant´s voice, but he lost a lot of range relatively early on in his career. Freddie was slightly older than Plant when he recorded this song. He also had AIDS in its final stages. In spite of that, he pulled off a heroic vocal performance. Robert Plant couldn´t match that performance at Wembley, and he was in perfect health.
@MetalMan73100 Look I loved them both, and I didn't come close to comparing them. To me this was an amazing performance, but wasn't comparing Robert to Freddie or vice versa. Freddie was an amazing on once in a life time performer I miss him dearly. Yes, his longevity with that terrible disease was heroic, but I don't think Robert missed a beat here, I've always loved him to.
capisco che so non conosci puoi dire 'sto tipo dicose... at least give it a try and find out who u r talking about... just a little effort... he did it singing it
Please, guys, Plant, like others in the concert, went to pay tribute to Queen and Freddie...It wasn't like "Somebody's Got Talent like Freddie" contest...Freddie is irreplaceable, And Plant will be always a superstar.
@beunesd I totally agree with you. I understand Plant's decision of taking this song off the DVD, but it was just about paying tribute to Freddie. And Plant didn't sing the song that bad.
It may not be Plant's best efforts (he thought he was shite too), but it is still Robert Plant with Queen in a triubte to Freddie and Freddie loved Led Zeppelin so all good in my book! He picked a hard song too.
Its a decent version but i guess they didnt have enough time to reaherse. I think a full version of thank you in acoustic style would have been better instead of innuendo.
The great Robert Plant gives this music the epic drama required...The irony is that Freddie worshipped Robert in the early days when nobody on the planet could sing like Plant and Brian May was also highly influenced by Jimmy Page even down to his look. We can all learn from Zeppelin.
@AcidRainAgain You do realize that Robert Plant was one of the singers Freddie admired the most, and had a huge influence on him. It's pretty likely that if it weren't for Robert Plant we wouldn't have Freddie as a musician
@siniest , what on earth R U talkin' about? May is one of the neatest guitar players ever! and taylor is not the greatest, but he is by far the most solid drummer of all.
@titolante I know they're freaking good, just saying there's a fail...if you pay attention, the drummer doubts about hitting the crash because the guitar get lost a bit...nothing else...
even though it was a great concert which Freddie did deserve some acts really weren't any good. And it showed short after Freddie's passing that actually only one could be the evetually new singer - and that would have been George Michael imo. He really missed a great chance those days... All stuff the boys did ever after never convinced me much (except "No-one but you") and John knew why he left ... R.I.P. dear IRREPLACABLE Freddie!
I think that a good Robert Plant can sing this song pretty well (not as Freddie, but in his style, like Kashmir)... but this is just a very bad job :(
Can't believe people saying a lot of bullshits of a concert which happened a couple of decades ago. This is all about a TRIBUTE CONCERT, not a new-singer-Freddie-voice-like contest. For the love of God, stop trying to compare everyone's voice with Freddie's voice. He would be proud seeing people like Robert Plant and Roger Daltrey singing his songs.
Freebies voice I think was much powerful in way that Roberts wasn't. Freddie sounds a little more professional than Robert and the opera and jazzy and sometimes more rhythmic characteristics of his voice make me think Freddie is a better singer. Not to mention Freddie is a better writer
I think Robert sounds better now than he did in the 80s and 90s. I to think Freddie is a better singer but not by a significant amount if yur comparing them in their prime. Robert in early 70s was one of the best rock singers, had a great soothing folk voice, and great soulful blues voice and could screen quite well
@beniBVB " the other guy sucks" Right, well that's possibly the greatest rock vocalist of all time you've just insulted there. His name is Robert Plant from a band called Led Zeppelin. Maybe You've heard of them. If you're referring to the middle section where he "forgets" the lyrics, He is singing Kashmir instead, which inspired the song Innuendo in the first place. Next time try educating yourself a bit before righting ridiculous, disrespectful comments about people you know nothing about.
@rocconrollo Freddie's vocal technique and versatility was at a level beyond Plant's. Even in his prime, Plant was a great screamer, a great folk rock singer, and a soulful bluesy singer, depending on the song. Nonetheless,Freddie's voice had the quality of of a rocker, a vaudvillian, a jazz singer, an opera singer, and his songwriting ability was unmatched. His technique was wonderful, and as a person who spent 2 years taking voice from an international opera star,I think I know a few things.
@loudchristian2112 who said that you were ignorant about this subject? by the way,I think this is more subjective, but I don't see all this greatness in Freddie's songwriting, actually I think that Queen did only 4 truly good albums in their career...
@loudchristian2112 If you put Freddie singing Stairway To Heaven the result will be strange to the ears of whole world. Can't compare bananas with apples dude.

Why Robert!? You sang great ^^
TheMrAkkibakki 4 months ago
I think that a good Robert Plant can sing this song pretty well (not as Freddie, but in his style, like Kashmir)... but this is just a very bad job :(

En mi opinion.. por que no canto See what a fool i've been?? o algo como The prophet's song???
MarIrisFM 4 months ago

LilZeppLep 4 months ago 2
I think Robert sounds better now than he did in the 80s and 90s. I to think Freddie is a better singer but not by a significant amount if yur comparing them in their prime. Robert in early 70s was one of the best rock singers, had a great soothing folk voice, and great soulful blues voice and could screen quite well
LilZeppLep 5 months ago 2
this song was removed from the dvd...i think
axlhm 5 months ago 2
@axlhm Robert didn't want them to include this due to the fact that he forgot most of the lyrics. Cool take on the song though!

Robert plant is totally murdering this song. If someone did this at kareoke, they'd get booed off the stage!

brian, roger and john brilliant as used to. the other guy sucks
beniBVB 5 months ago
@beniBVB " the other guy sucks" Right, well that's possibly the greatest rock vocalist of all time you've just insulted there. His name is Robert Plant from a band called Led Zeppelin. Maybe You've heard of them. If you're referring to the middle section where he "forgets" the lyrics, He is singing Kashmir instead, which inspired the song Innuendo in the first place. Next time try educating yourself a bit before righting ridiculous, disrespectful comments about people you know nothing about.

I love Zep, don't get me wrong, but Robert is incredibly inferior to Freddie, from a purely vocal perspective.
loudchristian2112 5 months ago 2
@loudchristian2112 or maybe because his voice is now to old and can't reach those high notes right now...
rocconrollo 5 months ago
@rocconrollo Freddie's vocal technique and versatility was at a level beyond Plant's. Even in his prime, Plant was a great screamer, a great folk rock singer, and a soulful bluesy singer, depending on the song. Nonetheless,Freddie's voice had the quality of of a rocker, a vaudvillian, a jazz singer, an opera singer, and his songwriting ability was unmatched. His technique was wonderful, and as a person who spent 2 years taking voice from an international opera star,I think I know a few things.
loudchristian2112 5 months ago 2
@loudchristian2112 who said that you were ignorant about this subject? by the way,I think this is more subjective, but I don't see all this greatness in Freddie's songwriting, actually I think that Queen did only 4 truly good albums in their career...
rocconrollo 5 months ago
@loudchristian2112 A young Robert Plant voice can hold it's own with Freddie, I think.
bwallace77 4 months ago 2
@loudchristian2112 If you put Freddie singing Stairway To Heaven the result will be strange to the ears of whole world. Can't compare bananas with apples dude.
