thanks for sharing but how is this any different from hatching? except that you dont lift off the pencil, which you should :D

For me, lifting the pencil takes extra time and sometimes causes me to lose my place. I use traditional hatching as well, but this technique is just as useful to me.

It doesn't really matter what direction you start from or which direction you go, as long as you progress from darker areas to lighter ones.
