  • BEST ACTION MOVIE PERIOD

  • I got kicked out of this movie 3 times before seeing the whole thing in the theater. I used to buy a ticket for Robin Hood (Costner) and then try to slip in to the rated R movie.

  • t1 8

    t2 10

    t3 5

    t4 6

  • You really cant say enough good things about T2. An absolute masterpiece of scifi/action

  • Terminator 2 is so much better than 1.

  • a mean waiter whos been to the health club alot? not thats an original way to describe him lol

  • It does amaze me that Siskel absolutely loved T2 but didn't like T1. Do you think it might be because Siskel is a more sentimental/drama type guy? He said he didn't like T1 because they "should have spent more time on the 'love' story". I was like...woah dude.

  • Truly great. The best in the series, though I like all of them.

  • One of the Greatest movies of all times

  • Comment removed

  • Roger forgot that he saw The Terminator??

  • Wow, siskel did a complete 180 when it came to this sequel

  • you think i'm unemotional, don't you? i can be emotional. jesus, i cried like a child at the end of terminator 2!

  • this movie makes my man parts quiver.

  • This is the best review Siskel ever did. He nailed everything.

  • T2 and empire s. b. 2 best sequels ever.....

  • "A mean waiter who's been to the health club a lot." lol, funniest description of the T-1000 I've ever heard.

  • Terminator 2 was and still is one of the greatest action films ever made. However, my personal favorite is the original Terminator. I felt that the story was more compelling because we have no prior knowledge of the back story. Cameron provides the exposition with flair and I was mesmerized.

  • @txmoney

Both of the original Terminator films (T1 and T2), like Alien and its sequel, Aliens, are stellar masterpieces that have stood the test of time, IMO. Their sequels on the other hand, SUCK.

  • Brilliant review by Siskel, this movie is a masterpiece

  • Goddamm right ..."there is nothing wrong with T2"

  • one of the greatest action movies of all time

  • This was the first movie for me that left me breathless

Goddamn, it's been 20 years since I saw it for the first time?!

Fuuuuck, time moves way to fucking fast

  • The ending of T2 is one of the most emotional i've ever seen. The acting and the score are fantastic. The T-800 is the father John Conner never had. Cameron should make another one and forget all this Avatar rubbish.

  • Robert Patrick a mean waiter who has been to the health club a lot I bet he liked that

  • when it comes to epic climax: The Dark Knight, Terminator 2, The Matrix, Die Hard(I know theres another but I cant remeber) are the best. Anyboy agrees :p

  • @thebadassjoshuaroca i can't agree with you i have not seen termnatior 2 or matrix or die hard should i?

  • @amyroseff yeah its worth a buy, theyre one of the greatest action movies around, if you see it rent it if possible.

  • @thebadassjoshuaroca i have termantior 2 on vhs i have not seen it yet

  • @thebadassjoshuaroca Dark Knights finale sucked, the high point was 2/3 through it.

  • This was the movie that expertly showed Arnold's star quality and his ability to act. With the exception of Predator and the original Terminator, it's a shame that he wasn't in films nearly as good as them because he can act; Much better than the other action stars that dominated the genre in the 80s and early 90s. The finale in Terminator 2 showed that Arnold doesn't only play the one-dimensional bombastic action hero or villain, but realistic and emotional characters, be them man or machine.

  • James Freaking Cameron

  • this movie proved that Schwarzenegger can act. his performance at the end made me emotional. the fact that this wasnt nominated for best picture astounds me. this is an amazing film and anyone would love. even if you hate scifi action movies, you will find some great stuff in this movie. its one of the best movies ever made. no question.

  • i loved T2. one of the best sequels of all time.

(i really didn't like T3, at least to the degree that i remember...)

  • Comment removed

  • man they went easy on that one. good acion, shiity story

  • @skinwalkerxxx Didn't have a shitty story

  • 1:52 "You broke my sunglasses." WHAM!

  • I just saw a special screening of T2 in perfect digital picture and sound. I gotta say, Linda Hamilton got ROBBED for a nomination in 1991.

  • Terminator 2 is the greatest action movie of all-time.

If you do not have the blu-ray of this movie (the skynet edition), you are missing out on the best blu-ray movie as well. GET IT. GET IT NOW!

  • GoFuckYourselfBiatch, I love you...

  • these dudes are retarded, arnold was being a robot no shit he only knows how to kill.

  • cant think of anything bad to say about this film its basically perfect

  • OUCH! Watch the truck driver hit his head on the street HARD when the T1000 tosses him out at 0:40 seconds into the clip. That was a REAL impact. I hope that stuntman was paid well!

  • damn shame edward furlong's career was de-railed by drugs.

  • Ebert has no taste or style. A blob nerd. His recs are for the similarly impaired.

  • THIS THING tells you which movie to see?

  • Ignore the troll below who signed up to hide its real moniker. I expect someone who critques to be other than a slob from another decade.

    EBERT=UGLY DRUNKARD

    FANS=LOOK ALIKES

    - Love,Fran Chalomiro

  • I don't sit around shooting bullshit about old movies. I looked on here to laugh at Ebert. And MrJackieGleason or whatever

  • @daveybaby131 whats funny bout him

  • @daveybaby131 they get paid money

  • @Babric420 Ebert has no taste or style. Anyone who needs his judgement must be a loser

  • @daveybaby131 so you are saying T2 is a bad movie? Well maybe you have a bad taste of movies you piece of shit.

  • @fumanchu19951 you can go fu manchu yourself

  • T2 is the greatest Terminator movie.

  • @ZarahLean Sorry that the clothes of an old man from a show in the 90's doesn't meet your standards of style.

    Asshole.

  • @MrBryanCreason Guess you flunked out of charm school already.

    EBERT=Ugly FANS=NERDS

  • @TheBitchinbabs I'm sorry, I don't go to Hogwarts and take their Charms class. Lordy lordy, how I wish I could though. It'd just make me shit with happiness.

  • When I come out of the cinema I had sweat patches under my arms.

  • Siskel & Ebert will always be the best critics!!

  • S & E got it right. When it came out T2 was totally awesome!

  • When you look like Roger and me you know we is so super kewl and grovvey. That is why I'm up all nigh and can't git a date

  • Say what you want about James Cameron but I've always admired the strong women in his films. We need more kick-ass heroines like this. No airheads/bimbos allowed.

  • Arnold as the T-800 / T-101 Terminator and Robert Patrick as the T-1000 are two of the greatest villains ever put on film.

  • Terminator 2 is a really underated film. Not box office wise, but film tech wise. The chase seen was simply tech perfect. No CGI. The last great classic car chase scene. Plus it was just fun as hell.

  • @CobainLennon8094

It's not JUST the action sequences in T2 that are "tech perfect" as you say. Watch the simply scene where Janelle confronts Todd about John. "I've had it with that goddamn kid. He won't even answer me anymore." That one simple, pathetic scene is actually inspirational in terms of photography and art direction. Does anyone notice it?? NO, and that is part of the greatness of T2.

  • @DrunkVideoGameNerd let me correct if i may, not a robot, cybernetic organism.

  • Siskel is so spot on in this review.

  • ALIENS 1986 and Terminator 2 are tied for my #1 top action movies of all time. I mean, both of them are just imprinted into me and I marvel at James Cameron's finest work was put into those movies. I love the compelling & believable world that is and is only Terminator 2 and Aliens. Thats what really made a name for himself. Lets face it - Titanic was ultra-popular and successful, but it was NOT a good movie. The same way 2012 was another high-budget disaster movie that was successful.

  • @mrjustin5

OMG! LOL. You're honestly going to say that Titanic was not a "good movie" in the same way 2012 was not a good movie?? Do you even know what makes good movies?? LOL. What a fucking moron. Find something better to do.

  • Wasn't Arnold being a good terminator supposed to be a plot twist? It's never hinted at until the mall showdown scene

  • @OriginalMishima

A small one, but it's not long into the film that you find out he's good.

  • Awww yeah!

Next to Empire Strikes Back and Godfather II; T2 is among THE best sequels of ALL TIME!

  • @shenloken2 It is the SINGLE BEST, #1 sequel of all time. Godfather Part II is great but I have to admit that I'm not a fan of the Star Wars series.

  • "Three billion human lives ended on August 29th, 1997. The survivors of the nuclear fire called the war Judgment Day. They lived only to face a new nightmare...the war against the machines".

  • I know now why you cry, but it is something i can never do.

  • Stay here, ah'll be back.

  • gofuckyourselfbiatch!

  • T2 is one of the finest technical films ever made, but I still think that the original is superior.

  • @NotNamedJones

Personal bias can't change the fact that T2 is superior to T1 in every technical way. HOWEVER, I also love and cherish what Cameron accomplished with The Terminator. I mean, with 6 million dollars, a low budget film, Cameron made Arnold into a superstar overnight. People can say whatever they want about Heath Ledger's Joker, but Arnold's Terminator was and is and will probably be a freakin' legend for a long time. And, that includes the good, hero Terminator character in T2.

  • @LukeLovesRose well, technique is a debatable subject in of itself too. I'm inclined to say that the original is technical better as well in that it has an overall aesthetic that I like better than T2, therefore, the cinematech chosen for the first film is better. The type of special effects, lighting, music etc used for the sequel contributes to a glossiness that I find less appealing. T2 certainly had the bigger budget, that much is a fact.

  • @NotNamedJones

LOL. All opinion. And, given the legion of fans for both films, I think you're being very short-sighted.

  • @LukeLovesRose Personal bias? I think you mean opinion. I also think that the original Terminator is a better film. T2 is technically brilliant and is a very good film overall, but it lacks a protagonist and the menacing atmosphere of T1.

  • @LostBoy76

LOL. T2 is not T1. It was never going to be a copy of The Terminator. You really wanted the same exact experience all over again?? LOL. That wasn't gonna happen. And, I'm sooo glad that Cameron shook up the structure enough to make T2 its own great film.

    Piss on you naysayers.

  • @LukeLovesRose There are Naysayers of this movie?

  • @Antichrist2000

Believe it or not, yes. I love the movie... probably more than most people think possible. But, I do, and I can't see these flaws. T2 is aging so fucking beautifully that it could've been made yesterday and got the same responses from the same audience and or different audiences.

  • "...the health club..."

    I miss the 80's.

  • @JacksInn ...'91

  • Ah! I loved to watch Siskel & Ebert At the Movies! This was back before Siskel's untimely death (R.I.P.) and when Ebert was still making very good and reasonable judgments on films!

Here it seems that they are somewhat restraining their enthusiasm for the film, most especially Siskel--I think they loved it more than they are letting on there hehehehe

I wanna see more Siskel & Ebert clips, doing the movies I remember! hehehehe

  • Linda Hamilton should have gotten an Oscar nomination for her performance......one of the best performances of the 90s.....

  • @jucurtis23

Agreed! Linda was sorely overlooked. Hell, Cameron and the film itself was sorely overlooked IMO. To people, it was nothing but a B-action movie with high grade effects. Time has proven different. T2 has aged better than most of the films nominated that year. That says A LOT IMO. And, Bugsy?? Who the fuck ever cared about watching Bugsy?? Jesus!

  • Terminator 1 and 2 are classics.some of the dialogue between the kid and the "Terminator" is a bit cheesy in "Terminator 2" but the special effects and action more than made up for it.

  • An absolute classic and... they found an immortal role for an otherwise cartoonish and pretty terrible actor slash body builder. But in this role, he's perfect. Like Keanu Reeves in The Matrix. Outside of that film, he's terrible but in that role, he fits.

  • @magicbibledotcom I agree---Arnold was perfect in this role---his best role as an actor.

  • I remember watching this movie in theaters when it first came out. I was like 10 or 11. This movie never gets old

  • @adiostraitorobama plinkett will do it now :D

  • @HLimmen LOL the great Mr. Plinkett really should do more reviews on more movies, shouldn't he! hehehe :D

  • Terminator 2. gets from me a 10 out of 10 score.

  • Edward Furlong portraying "convincing energy?" Siskel must have seen clips of him that the rest of us aren't privy to. I felt sorry about Gene's death, but after watching some of his "wahwah, this action epic would be much more satisfying as a love story" reviews, I think maybe God pulled the plug on him for being a dumbass. Seriously, he didn't like Aliens, Predator, or the 1st Terminator! I hope he's happy in the afterlife jacking off to Hayley Mills movies.

  • Best Sequel ever.

  • 2:07 - :12 funny.

  • Only movie I can think of that was much, much, much better than the original. Maybe Godfather II can rival this sequel, Spiderman 2 as well. Not many sequels are this much better than the original though. Great film. A classic. The special effects still hold up well almost 20 years later which is scary.

  • @kpernod30

Most people say The Dark Knight is a solid recent example of a superior sequel, though I disagree - I still prefer Batman Begins. I imagine the consensus among both Star Wars and Star Trek fans is that the second film released in those franchises was better than the first. Perhaps most controversial is the raging debate between Ridley Scott's Alien and James Cameron's Aliens. I admit that my bias is slanted toward action films over horror films, so I enjoy the sequel a lot more.

  • @TheConciseStatement

"Most people say The Dark Knight is a solid recent example of a superior sequel, though I disagree - I still prefer Batman Begins."

I agree, while TDK is a great movie I prefer BB as well because I enjoy origin stories and because I liked how BB was focused on Batman and not the villians. In TDK, the movie seemed to center around The Joker. Both are great movies though, I love both. I sure as hell hope Nolan has rebuilt Wayne Manor for the next one.

  • @kpernod30 youre the only one who prefers BB.

  • @kpernod30 godfather 2 is not ''much much better" than the original.

  • First one is better

  • If a movie can emotionally capture your attention, persuade you to think differently, deeper, leave you in awe or visually stun.. as this one does, it has done it's job to be considered a good movie, scratch that.. Briliant movie

  • What would have been even better in this movie, was if they hadn't spoiled that Arnold was a "good" Terminator.

The scene where they finally confront at the mall is just set up that way so obviously.

It's so much more suspenseful when you don't know who's going to get to John first and they why Arnold grabs him, then starts taking the bullets if you didn't know it would throw you off like oh wait!

  • @PumaSweat

Oh I wouldn't worry about that. That gem was already lost during the truly seismic advertising campaign leading up to the original release. I'd love to meet the very few people who watched the first film in 1984 - waited 7 years - avoided most of the hype - and then were able to enjoy the reveal in T2's first act, as intended. And in fairness, it is very hard to promote and assess a film where an early surprise forms the premise of the rest of the film.

  • @TheConciseStatement

In fact, when I watched the film again (for the umpteenth time), I finally noticed that the nature of the T-1000 isn't revealed until the confrontation in the mall. Up till then, Robert Patrick seemed to be set up as the protagonist (though there is that bit at the beginning where it looks like he put on the cop uniform a little too quickly).

  • @shuboy05

That's an interesting point you make, because it just occurs to me that during the red herring opening, Cameron shoots the attack on the first police officer deliberately discreetly to try to fool you into thinking the T100 has used non lethal means. But of course, the reality of that character means he's probably used the liquid metal technology to gut him.

  • @PumaSweat Why would you watch a review by Siskel and Ebert and NOT expect a spoiler of a plot point?

  • @Bauglir100 I'm not saying Siskel & Ebert spoiled it. Back when this came out magazine's like Entertainment Weekly and the trailers etc gave it away. You can tell from the directing and editing of the film it wasn't to be revealed until that point.

  • " You have to see this picture, to appreciate the special effects". Well, no shit Sherlock.

  • @iconzero

LOL. Bit harsh on the reviewers, no? I mean, I can't be fucking bothered with Avatar — on top of a crap, overlong story, and cardboard characters, the visuals were equally underwhelming — but still, you understand what fans mean when they emphasise how different it feels to experience something for yourself. In my opinion, they were right about T2 being a 'You had to be there' moment in cinema.

  • Still my favorite action film ever....

  • Best action film ever.Period.

  • .."HE'LL LIVE'" :)

..Arnold comes back to movies !! 2012

  • James Cameron = genius :)

  • Terminator 2 is inferior to the first film. This is just a rehash of the 1984 film, only with bigger special effects.

  • @acrovader

LOL. Yeah. I hear that a lot. But, the characters in T1 don't stand out for me nearly as well as the characters in T2. I mean, Sarah Connor is beautifully illustrated and portrayed throughout the entire film. You might say T2 was simply a character study of Sarah. However, many other characters, including Miles Dyson also have wonderful characters arcs. I think these characters are much more intriguing to watch, even though, I love T1 and T2 equally.

  • I've actually only found two people who dislike T2. It truly amazes me that some people could even dislike this film and find it unenjoyable.

  • @adiostraitorobama Madden would tell us the obvious with his fucking pen:

"If the Terminator kills John, then Skynet Wins"

  • Best terminator

  • How not to kill people?

Some things you just can't learn in college.

  • You enjoyed this more than the first?

  • I love Terminator 2. It's a waaaayy better film than it actually should have been. Shows how talented the actors were and how much Jim Cameron knew exactly what he was doing!

  • @jsumudio wish I could say the same for Avatar, sure the visuals are incredibly innovative and spectacular, but it had nothing else in it; just a ripped-off storyline, obvious morals (since we've seen this sorta story so many times), and stock 2-D characters, plus it's way too long, could've been like a half hour shorter and still make sense.

  • @moviehypno23

Each to their own. And I'm sure Gene would agree with you about Avatar.

However, I think Avatar has a lot more going for it than you think. Those visuals you are talking about are literally icing on the cake.

  • @LukeLovesRose ehh maybe I'm bein too hard on it, but still I just wasn't as enthralled by it as most everyone else. I actually at one point thought about leavin the theater for 20 minutes just to wait for the action, I was gettin antsy haha

  • @moviehypno23

As I've said here before, people once hated on T2, because they thought it was concentrating too much on the effects and not enough on its characters. Time has changed that perspective. People now see how great Cameron's character development was in T2. The usage of the effects in Avatar are like nothing we've ever seen. Sure, they've dappled into Avatar-style film-making in flops like Beowulf and failed. Through the CGI, we actually see life in the bodies of the Na'vi.

  • Arnold in the original Terminator and Robert Patrick as the T-1000 in T2 are two of the greatest villains in film history.

What's hilarious is that all people could see in this masterpiece were the CGI. Sound familiar? Cameron keeps pushing effects, but his masterpieces age SOO wonderfully. So, why question Cameron's abilities, ever??

  • @dax506 yeah! its ridiculous.

  • Comment removed

  • linda hamilton as a sex object, that wouldnt work anyways. no boobs and went from looking alright to crusty as fuck in a few short years....lol. anyways, one of the best movies of all time. i love the dramatic climax at the end.

  • @tonyss9 great comment !

  • @fleischpudding thank you sir.

  • Has anyone read Leonard Maltin's review? Talk about hopeless. The man completely missed the point.

I'm surprised with Siskel here. Glad and surprised.

But, the best part of T2 is not the action or the effects,

  • @LukeLovesRose Yeah, i've read it and it is quite ridiculous, i must admit. Leonard Maltin is probably my least favorite film critic of all time. I'm also very surprised that Gene Siskel actually liked this one. Maybe his taste in movies wasn't entirely in his own ass after all. lol.

  • I liked the first movie more, it was more horror-like and darker. Terminator 2 is a well done movie however

  • 4:00 exactly!

That's how female roles should be written. Making women a sex objects is why whenever you see a woman in an action movie it very often sucks, not because women suck, but because the way they're written sucks - usually just a mate for the protagonist and it's annoying. Getting actual pornography is incredibly easy nowadays, we're visually sexually spoiled and nobody's impressed with that sexy bullshit anymore. More Ellen Ripleys, less Megan Foxes!

  • @MarkArandjus

The less masculine women the better!

  • @MarkArandjus You Right!

  • @MarkArandjus Don't worry, Megan fox was booted off the set of TF3.

  • @MarkArandjus wow dude, what a good point. i rarely, if ever come to youtube message boards for insightful comments about psychology (haha, end sarcasm) but your point about how spoiled we are with porn these days really is right on the money. why keep oversexing a way-oversexed population??

  • @MarkArandjus Did you see Inception? If so what did you think of Mal, you know, the projection of Cobb's dead wife?

  • @RudySpino I have and it was a good performance and role/character.

I mean it didn't stick out as extraordinary or anything, but like I said it was good, though I prefer Marion Cotillard in French cinema :)

  • @MarkArandjus K Cool :)

  • @MarkArandjus I'd prefer more variety among female roles, not necessarily more Sarah Conners or Ellen Ripleys. Linda Hamilton's performance was excellent, but her character becomes tedious after awhile. They shouldn't have cut the Kyle Reese deleted scene. At least Sarah seemed human in that scene.

  • @Which is why Raiders of the Lost Ark destroys Temple of Doom in every possible way.

  • @MarkArandjus I totally agree. They are just not impressive.

  • @MarkArandjus i disagree. i say, more ellen ripley's in the movies, and more megan foxes on the internet ;)

  • @JJJ10JJJ If that's what you say then you agree =)

  • @MarkArandjus

"More Ellen Ripleys, less Megan Foxes!"

    Amen to that.

  • @MarkArandjus

Art imitates life. Their won't be many women like this in future movies because there are fewer and fewer of them in real life.

  • @imblessedso Yes I'm sure since 1991 the number of strong women has dramatically dropped, they all started dying out for some reason and that's why they stopped writing them into movies. That's a brilliant explanation if I ever heard one.

  • @MarkArandjus The explanation is a simple re articulation of the principle that art imitates life. This is particularly the case in a supply and demand economy.

One should concentrate on first rendering themselves "brilliant", before they move on to the loftier goal of attempting to understand and recognize brilliant explanations.

  • @imblessedso Cool story.

  • @imblessedso The problem with you art imitates life theory is that it hinges on the fact that women have dramatically dropped in strength in the last 20 years. Which you've yet to prove. The theory I have in mind is that most films are using the same marketing strategy they have been since the dawn of film. Eye candy sells tickets. They don't often make good role models or help enhance the story however they will bring in the ticket sales. Its a cheap, simple and easy tactic.

  • @MarkArandjus Exactly. Right on dude

  • Everytime I see soemthing to do with the Terminator franchise I just need to go ♪ ta ta dun ta dun, ta ta dun ta dun, Ta Ta Dun Ta Dun, DUH DA DUN DA DUN!!!

    Know what I mean?

  • @MarkArandjus yeah lol!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MarkArandjus FUCKIN' FAIL U DOUCHE!!!!

  • Have you seen this Boy?

  • @ThomasDeCosteTV "OOOOWWAAGGH!" *Peels off into the streets.*

  • hands down, top five action film. acting, action, story, direction, dialogue, special effects, perfect action flick.

  • 1:47 Dooch!
