This was the number one song the week I was born: Feb 14, 1956. I love it. Posting to Facebook. Had a suggestion from a friend to find and post the number one song from the week we were born. It's a great idea.
When I was a kid in the 60's my dad brought home an old wind up gramophone player and this 78 record. It had a bit of a chip in the edge but we still played it right there in the back yard, my sister and I over and over and over.......
Fabulous memories, this was my grand parents favourite song and mine (born 1956). I used to ask for it to be played all the time and remember dancing and singing to it on a Sunday as a small child. I now have my own Decca crank wind '78 player and I still listen to this song. No wonder it sold 1 million!!!! Wonderful stuff..
Thanx again, Liz! It's been sooooo long since i heard this. Now, if i could only pair up your 78 with John1948's video, we would really have something!
I'm 34, born nearly 20 years after this came out, but I've heard it on one of my FM stations quite a lot ( they must like it ). I must say it is a cute song and pleasantly innocent compared to the tripe of today that is more noise than music.

This hit by Kay Starr and The Hugo Winterhalter Orchestra was the 11th #1 song in the United Kingdom after the start of the Rock Era.

Thank you for posting this beautiful song. Bought back memories whilst growing up in New Zealand. We danced like crazy to this song.
