well one thing wich u can doo.but will get hard to get used to playing.wen u play.take a peice of gauze.and then take a decent length peice of electrical tape.and rap it round the gauze.and u cn learn to play with the mini cast.make it kinda tite so its not alot of pressure wen ur pressing ur finger down

I can kind of see what you're hinting at but I personally think it's simply a matter of what you think sounds best. Yes, using fingers is more traditional (and probably more versatile) but a pick is also good for a "crunchier" sound.

Not really, plucking the guitar with your fingers the same way with bass is pretty much impossible. You usually use your thumb combined with other fingers for the higher strings.
