  • If wanting a decent pension for those who spend their lives and careers working for the University of California means I'm a socialist guess I'm guilty. Although I'm not sure what definition of socialism you happen to be referring to, I suspect that socialism may also include such evils as guaranteed health care, employment, education and other such evils that capitalism can't afford.

  • An inactive retiree is some one who leaves UC and does not retiree right away. For example if you leave when you are 52 but don't want to retiree until you are 60 so that you get the maximum age factor the way the system currently works is that a cost-of-living increase would be calculated on your salary for retirement purposes until you retire. That cost-of-living will no longer be applied. Remember that if wait to retiree you lose retiree health benefits.
