ahhhh beat me to it. i was also going to say timing "go" then gunning it, very nice! LOVE the black one! im getting those nostrils for my grand prix, they have a hood made for them. anyways, nice vid, they both sound awesome!
@INMY01TA ouch, you know how to insult people....i said i was 6'5" but with longer legs than most people of that height. and an 01 might possibly have more legroom than my 96 did, sometimes they move seats a little.that was the case with my ranger. 93-97 were same, than late 97 got a 98 cab which was 2 inches longer. well mine was made in june of 97. if it was the 93-most of 97 cab, id probably still be stuck in it with my knee jammed into the dash.
i have owned a 89 2.8L V6 firebird and a 96 LT1 trans am. both were autos. and the trans am was a base trans am with t-tops and a few other options but was not a WS6. 100% sure it wasnt. actually the decklid mine had i have not seen on another trans am to this day. the decklid was shaped like a small spoiler with no gap in between. the decklid was shaped like a spoiler. but WS6 has optional stuff like bigger wheels and sway bars and mostly better suspension along with ram air and a 6 speed.
ws6 was started in the late 70's. it just a code name for pontiacs performance package for formulas and trans am's its a base option for trans am. not all trans ams wit "ws6" had bigger wheels and 6 speed manual trannys. ur 96 might have been a formula not a ta, cause firebirds and formulas had the spoiler wit no gap in it. as wit formulas im not 100 percent on the history wit them and the ws6 performance package. but i do know that there were some formulas wit them
trust me, i am a firebird freak lol. WS6 was not in the 70s, it was started in the 80s. it is a performance package. like the chevy trucks. you can get a 4x4 and you can get the Z71 which is a beefier suspension and a few other things. the WS6 has always been upgraded suspension, tires, wheels, and in the 90's it included ram air. my 96 was a trans am, not a formula. a formula looks identical to a V6 firebird but is upgraded to a V8. the trans am has an appearance package.
82-86 style trans ams had a front end with two vent like cutouts on each side, then in 87-92 they had an air dam with fog/driving lights on each end. 93-02 trans ams have the driving lights pretty much in the middle of the front but with a gap about the size of a liscense plate. formulas from 93-02 had the driving lights in an indentation on the ends of the front bumper. 98-02 were in the same area but were a different style bumper. trust me, like i said, i am an f-body knowledge freak of 82-02s
with the 90s styles you can compare the cars better. a camaro Z28 is the same internally as a trans am or formula. the camaro SS is the same as the WS6 basically. SS and WS6 have the upgrades whereas the Z28 and the T/A and formulas are basically the base models of the performance versions of the cars. then the V6 engined cars being the economy versions which is not really a good way to describe them since my 96 LT1 auto got about 23-25mpgs combo driving and about 27mpg highway at 65mph
if you want to see my firebird and my trans am i had, go to cardomain. com and search for 89birdowner, select either vehicle posting, i have pics of them on both i am pretty sure.
@Amras0407 i am 6'5" tall with longer legs than most people that are 6'5" tall. my knees would hit the bottom of the dash before the clutch pedal would be released fully. they had plenty of legroom for stretching out my legs but not very much for bent legs of my size. in my firebird(89) i could straighten both legs, barely. in the 96 t/a i could almost straighten them except left leg had a little less room.
i have had 8 vehicles, 4 were sticks. i had a 97 ford ranger(dont know how i managed to drive it) my knees did hit the dash barely. and a 78 f150, an 04 f150 heritage(03 style) and now have an 08 f150. in trucks the seating position is different so my knees dont hit. yeah it sucks but i wont own a sports car anytime soon. i wrecked my T/A 5 years ago and my insurace would kill me if i got another one. altho i will be getting a lower rate now that i am turning 25 next month.....hmmmm
I am 6'4 and I don't have any issues. It's hard to get the seats comfy in my 99 T/A though, idk the power seats are hard to get right. I am 17 though so I can deal with it lol.. I can't fit in my 73 Camaro, gonna have to drill new seat frame holes. My 80 Trans Am was fine though which is weird because it's the same platform as a 73 camaro..
the 01 and 02 are my favorite body styles i wish they wouldve kept them going this kid in my highschool had an 02 and he didnt know how to drive it very well and on street tires in the 8th mile( thats all we had where i grew up) he ran an 8.4 with a 6 speed and thats hauling ass..im a mopar guy but i have a lot of respect for these cars i want one but theyre fuckin expensive for a low mileage one but good video and love the cars
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The 02 WS6 prolly had an auto and it was a rolling start and no clue as to tha mods....I have a 2001 WS6 that ran 13.08 on street tires running a 2.1 60ft and now im running 13.07 witha 2.4 60ft and I have 7 more grand in my car n mods, but I spin bad very bad I mean from start at 1,200rpm's till I hit 3rd a little past the 8th mile...the 6spd is tricky but very fast I have $3000 into tha 6spd by the way outta the 7K in tha car....honestly I wish I had a auto or my 5th and 6th taken out
atekido = You couldn't be more full of shit... The 02's have dyno'd 400FWHP... Maybe you're thinking of an LT1. RATED and ACTUAL HP #'s are two different things. Don't mess with the modded LS1's, especially the later models..
he's talking about fly wheel hp (fwhp) it's what the motor is making at the crank before drivetrain loss. 400 is maybe a touch high, but i would say anywhere between 350-375 is accurate for ls1's (at the crank)
It is but that is what GM says and many people have taken bone stock LS1's and dynoed them at 350, 375, ive even heard of 400. GM just says 325 for cheaper insurance permiums
it goes back even to lt1's. ive herd of lots coming back with more than 300 and they were only rated at like 280. I bought a 95 z28 from an older guy who drove from PA to NYC 5 days a week. around 150k all highway miles. after tune up..(new plugs, msd wires and k&n filter in the stock box) to pass inspection I took it to a dyno cause i wanted a baseline before i yank motor and start with exhaust and stuff. No bs, 318hp 330 torque with 150,000+ miles. chevy builds quality engines
about the highest you will see is 320-330 rwhp. what people fail to realize is that is on the special editions 02s that came rated 345hp from the factory. majority of ls1's are about 290-310 range.
yes the 01 and 02 F-Bodies had a LS6 intake manifold, but a slightly smaller cam, my 98 has a smaller intake manifold but a slightly larger cam, but that intake manifold makes up for so much hp, thats why the 01 and 02's dyno way higher to the wheels is because the top end is a lot more noticable. My camaro is laying down 288whp stock, and with the ls6 intake I would be laying down just over 300whp, but remember some dyno's dont have resistance, like a dyno jet will read 20-30whp higher.
so, how much horse does a 2002 WS6 actually put out when stock? i don't trust GM's figures since the vette had the same engine for more than twice the price as the T/A.
Probably cause the corvette is both lighter and the engine is differently tuned, also the corvette is a big name, sells more to the upper-middle or lower-upper class and people who saved up enough.
i got a t/a and it rapes, but it just really matters how the engine runs, i mean just by mass production it varries.. ive seen a stock t/a with 350 and then ive seen some with less. mine prolly runs about 340-345
It's possible but I really don't think that an LS1 that has been well maintained and has ram air intake and dual exhuast would have any less than 300 hp.
I meant stock, too. Although I think I messed up, because I'm don't think the Firebirds had dual exhaust. But I know some had Ram Air hoods and in 2001 and 2002 the V8 received the higher flow LS6 intake manifold and a high performance clutch. Which must have upped the horsepower. And this was all from the factory.
actually i people seen them run on dynos stock run higher than 350whp you douche. its not random actually... what you said was random cause you dont kow what i have seen. ill try and find the url for it.
I want this same video, but without the gay music. I just want to hear the sweet sounds of an LSx engine.

recniabsal 3 years ago
he's talking about fly wheel hp (fwhp) it's what the motor is making at the crank before drivetrain loss. 400 is maybe a touch high, but i would say anywhere between 350-375 is accurate for ls1's (at the crank)
sfp4dvm 3 years ago
Is he talking stock? Cause I've read many times that the stock horsepower to the wheels are 325 in a WS6 package.
