@cheerskiwi I disagree. I love the guitar playing in this. If you could put the feeling of being high on weed into sound...this is about what it would sound like :)
Great stuff for all musicians and every bass player has to fukin learn how make sound before they called them self bass players , great free example just fukin watch and practice .
@phorty89 yeah it's in the book. They were saying how well behaved he was during that interview. He used to go up to pay phones and ring people and play the bass through the phone to them.
@jw22345 your right you dont play bass. that's because every bassist who plays fretless knows that there is a difference in tone between fretted and fretless
@zincpower21: There is available, a DVD containing this performance and more from this trio. The title of that DVD is "Jaco Pastorius - Modern Electric Bass"!
you either misinterpreted me or you are the dumbass in the equation, i was simply wishing that it would have been nice if he had his fretless in this video. I know he had a fretless hence the term "the" in my first comment. Bitch
Jaco was a phenomanal Muscian and showman, I had heard he tossed his bass alot but to the drummer LOL that was great. In Bass player mag last year they said he once tossed it to someone back stage after a set but no one was there and it was destroyed. He is a joy to watch and to learn from
Scott (Lafaro) et Jaco (Pastorius) jouent ensemble avec des ailes dans le dos...Ils sont le "sublime" et la dextérité incarnée...Que St-Pierre doit être heureux"!!!
You're right it sounds awful. For a moment I thought it was a shredders version. Just goes to show blues is all about feeling not the number of notes you play.
Best thing about Jaco is that he's playing something and he'll flick onto a note you didn't expect, but you just know it should be there once you've heard it.
Um dos melhores baixistas de todos os tempos!
Grande Jaco!!!

professorcomedy 2 years ago
@professorcomedy and without frets, it sounds even more fretless, thats just his tone, it wasn't just the fretless that gave him that signature sound
